Step 2. Use Boot Camp to non-destructively partiton your startup disc

Step 3. Mount the image

Step 4. Open Disk Utility

Step 5. Erase/Format the Partition created by Boot Camp as a Mac OSX

Filesystem(Journaled)

do these steps need to be done?

can i not just convert the iso to a cd master, and then burn it?

Ok, I have a PowerPC Mac and no DVD-burner: how can I go about installing this? I have the .DMG file, but what can I do with it to make it bootable? I have an external hard drive, but reformatting it isn't an option (valuable data on it)

Ok well, first, shouting isn't necessary. Second, after posting, I realized that I could use my iPod as an external bootable drive. So, I erased and partitioned the iPod (using the Apple Partition Map) and then Restored the Leopard .dmg file on to the iPod. I restarted my computer holding down Option, but the iPod doesn't show up as bootable. What did I do wrong?

Have you done it successfully, I mean complete with bootabel DVD and BootCamp drivers? I too do not wanted to waste a DL DVD. Can you clear my little confusion. Do you have to mount the DMG or convert the DMG without mounting it.

Thanks.

You have to 'restore' the iso image onto the ipod like a dvd.

I am downloading using Unison software. The files are being placed in 2 different folders alt.binaries.boneless and alt.binaries.cd.image. All the files within alt.binaries.boneless folder look consistent as osx-leopard105.rxx, but the ones in alt.binaries.cd.image folder are named osx-leopard105.rxx, osx-leopard105.1.rxx and osx-leopard105.2.rxx. What do I do once all the files are downloaded? DO I just rename osx-leopard105.1.rxx and osx-leopard105.2.rxx files getting rid of 1's and 2's and then unrar?

mount the .dmg file and go to disk utility and on ur ipod partition go the the restore tab drag over the dvd image file from the left side in disk utility into the source field then for the destination field drag ur ipod partition u want the dvd to saved too then just click restore you should be able to boot from that
my r40 and r41 files have invalid checksums.... should i just download those two again?

with "macpar deluxe", if you double click a par2 file, it will check all your files. If there is invalid chechsum, it will tell you if it can be recovered or not. If it can be recovered, it will do it for you and after it will unrar all files. So at the end you will have a dmg (in this case) with just one double click. If it can not be recovered so i don't know because i'm new to usenet and it never happend to me.

hope this help

regards
