Alright i tried to repair permissions through single user mode and it did nothing, someone said on irc that you cant use diskutil in single user mode so i tried using the dvd to repair permissions. That gave me an error saying no packages found or something along that line. I tried to repair permissions with my tiger install and that worked perfect. so i really dont know what to do now. Any help?

hey envying... can you check your /systems/library/extantions/ and tell me if there are any drivers for the GMA3000 ?
There are for kext files for GMA950, nothing for GMA3000. This is just based on file name. :P

Can you activate Root account through netinfo in app/utility, then login into root to repair your disk permission? Just a thought.

damn it :P

oh, also... is your "GeForce 7300GT" supported out of the box for 10.4.x or 10.5 or would i need a driver ?

Leopard never worked for me. At first it gave me the "Can't locate boot.com.plist" or whatever error. That's when I noticed the Permissions error. Ok. Here are two screenshots. I am booting with -v -x cpus=1

Tiger is installed on the same drive, on it's own partition. It works fine. I installed Leopard with "Remove CPU Power..." and the Azalia drivers.

What is your rig? Why you remove that AppleINtelCPUPowerManagement.kext? You have done that for any tiger version? :P

A clear screenshot will help out, take a pic! :D Tell us what is your partition setting on your Hd, looks like you are missing bootloader in your MBR? Do you have two partitions on same HD?You should boot into single mode to repair your permission of the Leo Partition.

Apologies for delay in response, work pressure.

Managed to sort the boot issue out! Convoluted, but hey it works - swapped the disk order around in acronis (disk1 became disk0 etc.) then used darwin off 10.4.10 to boot in Darwin 5 of the Leopard partition. Worked!

Now comes the fun bit - seamless install, created account, etc. Boot up, goes through the various kext loads, etc. - GETS to the GUI. Try and login under my account (also tried this in safe mode) - seems to login, but boom - back to the login page. Under verbose mode, picked up what was going on - SecurityAgent errors (a variety) - the one in non-safe or single mode:

SecurityAgent [819]: (ipc/send) invalid destination port

It then reruns the loginwindow application.

Any ideas?

it's a problem related with the GMA900 kext, delete all the GMA kexts, including the AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext . you need to download the modified version of AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext, a search will help you to find it. for the Deleted GMA kexts, you can use the original GMA kexts that stored in the /Backups folder execpt the AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext

Hi,

I've wrote on other thread regarding the same error; this is regarding the following: the BaseSystem.pkg IS NOT TO BE FOUND on /Library/Receipts/. Maybe someone can give us this package because is not either to be found on DVD (/System/Install/Packages/ ) ...

Cheers.

I told lord of the view this earlier in the thread:

i got this problem once too, i was missing the BaseSystem.pkg file in my /Library/Receipts folder.What I did was navigated to that folder and there was a .pkg named MacOSX_Leopard_9a527.pkg. i made a copy of that, renamed the copy to BaseSystem.pkg, changed the permissions and ownership and ran diskutil to repair permissions and it fixed it.

Ok - tried that - still exactly the same problem, message along the lines of 'server error - cannot release share memory"

:o

Alrighty i did this and then went open up netinfo from apps/utility and wouldnt ya know, there is no such application :\. So i navigate to my tiger install and attempt to run it from there. No luck, icon pops up in dock then vanishes. Maybe i will just wait till someone releases a retail version because this one is just problems.

Well, actually lithium06's hint was for me an improvement ... many thanks lithium06, hell of a job! Now, I'm stuck with exactly the same problem like TD ... endless login cycle (over and over again) ...Cheers.
Bummer.. it's really annoying, isn't it? There's a thread on the GMA kexts - what it also mentions is replacing the OpenGL framework with the one from Tiger. I have a sneeking suspicion it might do the trick - on my home computer now (installation Version 2, don't ask) I'm getting to the launch of the loginwindow now after the GMA etc. amendments. Worth a try...My problem now (I'm not winning, should just wait for retail) - what is the equivilent of, or WHERE is the rc script that was in /etc in Tiger? I have a BCM5751 ethernet, and all the %&^@ that comes with it - managed to sort it out in Tiger by taking out of extensions, and inserting kextload into rc script. Anybody?

forgot to mention in the previous post - thanks dude! Had the same problem, this sorted it out - we're not worthy!

Feedback - see screen grab, that's the current situation:

If i take out the OpenGL.Framework - the login window app will not initiate - simply crashes. I'm not sure if that points to any causal relationship though...

For sure, is related with graphics (frameworks); I also tried to remove the loginwindow.app -> kernel overflow ...

I searched for a modified AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext and I can't find it ... maybe this will help.

Nevertheless, for OSX everything worth a try ... I really love Apple work ...

Cheers.

Guest lord of the view

I have a Gigabyte 965P S3 motherboard, ATI x1650 Pro 512mb video card. An 80 gig WD hard drive for Vista, a 250 gig WD hard drive for storage. Both of those are SATA. Then I have a 40 gig WD hard drive with two partitions. One has Tiger, one theoreticlaly has Leopard. This drive is IDE. This hard drive is connected to a DVD RW drive by sony. The hard drive is set as master.

I have always used the "Remove CPU Power" kext. I did try to install Leopard without it, but there was no improvement.

I did remove the iPod, and no improvement.

WTH?????

Today, after work, I decided to give one shot more ... and I've got it on work!

Steps:

1. I recalled that I also have an USB HDD (Samsung 30 Gb) and I used it to install Kalyway 9a527 (both my DVD units are set to work on USB);

2. I put my other 2 HDD's on AHCI (not IDE) within BIOS;

3. I enabled on BIOS - Intel SpeedStep;

4. I enabled USB EHCI within BIOS;

5. I finally installed Leo with NO PATCHES, NO DRIVERS, NO APPS! Clean, only System!

6. Booted into 10.4.10 and changed MacOSX_9a527.pkg to BaseSystem.pkg and repaired permissions;

7. Booted with: -v -x cpus=1.

8. Setup the login info and crossed finger for a proper window ... and finally smiled :).

Note:

internet connection working from box;

only 1024x768 display (I didn't install any graphic driver);

no audio.

post-105159-1191678659_thumb.jpg Any of you can help me out with the 9A527 installation? I downloaded the Kalyway image, burned a couple of discs to make sure everything was alright. When trying to boot off the DVD to install, this is what I am getting. I am stuck at this screen. See screenshot above. Below are my specs (trying to install on a PW5 DH Deluxe).Thanks!UPDATE: I am getting the same message trying to install this on my laptop....What could it be?
