Eric.C
awesome system, but how come it only scored 10 points higher than my dual core system? kchase
if you look at the xbench i think the machine would really benefit form raptor hard drives. it seems to me that xbench places a lot of emphasis on data transfer rates and the drives in it are regular sata drives. when benched vs. anything with 10k drives it seems to "rank" similar to this machine. however if you compare this machine to a real mac pro it is only a point or two different. so i think xbench puts to much wieght on hard drives Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59866-custom-built-quad-core-hackintosh-in-g5-case/#findComment-435515 Share on other sites
dark4181
nice build. what motherboard tray is that? i haven't seen any with 2 fanslotsbtw, i didn't know that the bad ax 2 was xeon capable?p.s.- if you part it out, i'll take the case and the mobo Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59866-custom-built-quad-core-hackintosh-in-g5-case/#findComment-435981 Share on other sites
kchase
i would like to sell it as is. the motherboard tray is a coolermaster...i dont know what model, i asked for one that was aluminum, and the salesman said they used to make a tray of aluminum but it was discontinued, they said there were two in the warehouse...so i bought them both. i must say it matched the case of the g5 perfectly. as for the motherboard and xeon, well there are two xeons that are supported the x3220 and the x3210. i really like the board, and it has great osx compatibility. Colonel
Pictures HERE Ebay Item here: LOL! eBay. Its only a matter of time until eBay removes that for "legal reasons". EDIT: Just realized that you're selling it without OSx86 installed. Smart move... ~pcwiz
I dunno...seems like not a great deal for a used computer. I found almost the exact same parts online (mainly Newegg) and the total cost came to $985.93 without tax. The only way you can justify the extra $500 or so dollars is with the tax and G5 case mod. If you include that, it comes to pretty much the same price, $1450 but don't forget. The product that kchase is selling is USED. You can get the same thing new for the same price (some G5 case modding required though). ~pcwiz
If I had an extra $400 or so I'd get it, just for the sweet case. If no one is willing to buy it, maybe you should just sell the G5 case mod and then the components seperate on eBay or something. Alessandro17
I don't know why you people revived this old thread. Anyway, Starting bid: US $1,500.00? My hackintosh has much better specs overall (but no g5 case), and I could call myself lucky if I could get €1000 for it (but it is not for sale). I have also another hackintosh, Bad Axe 1 and C2D E6600 which I am not managing to sell for €500!
