SquidCombo
Would it be compatible with PC? It would be kinda nice knowing that I could stick with one keyboard for my dual boot OSX86. sarahbau
It should be. Every USB keyboard I've used has worked with both Macs and PCs. The only things that might not work for both are extra buttons like volume control. NeSuKuN
I think that the extra buttons will work on windows as soon as new bootcamp drivers arrive, on macos it'l 'Just work'. Â PS I've already bought one for my hackingtosh Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59309-new-slim-aluminium-apple-keyboard/#findComment-422584 Share on other sites
h2hummerz
So has anybody confirmed that this will work? Â If so, imma buy one. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59309-new-slim-aluminium-apple-keyboard/#findComment-423434 Share on other sites
gnhi
I also want to buy this new keyboard but I am concerned by the mac os 10.4.10 requirement. I run 10.4.8 on my hackintosh. Will it run under 10.4.8 (at least without the special function keys) ? Has anyone tried this ? Paranoid Marvin
It should be. Just a case of getting the keyboard layout.  I should be getting my own one soon (£30 is a bit steep for a keyboard though) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59309-new-slim-aluminium-apple-keyboard/#findComment-424441 Share on other sites
d3p0
Any update on this? Â I'm also running 10.4.8 and would like to sport one of those new keyboards. Â If it is still a problem, someone on IRC mentioned the thought of using pacifist to extract just the keyboard driver from the update. Ayanami
No reason why it shouldn't. All USB keyboards use the same communication for all the normal keys. Your Command key will turn into the Windows key. My Pro Keyboard worked with Vista the day it was relesed, no updates, no driver hunting. Just plugged it in and it worked. d3p0
Update: got the keyboard and none of the 'special function' keys work with 10.4.8. Going to attempt to extract the driver from the 10.4.10 update and replace my 10.4.8 Keyboard driver. Â If anyone has any other ideas how to get the keyboard's extra functions working on a 10.4.8 hack, do tell. Ayanami
Oooo.... I hate the update from 10.4.8 to 10.4.10. Software Update crashed during that installation about, hm, 4 times? If you attempt the update, make sure you're ready to do an Archive and Install. d3p0
Well I'd like to avoid the update from 10.4.8 to 10.4.10 but somehow get the keyboard working properly on 10.4.8.
