A Nonny Moose
iLife system requirements: Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 processor. iMovie requires a Mac with an Intel processor, a Power Mac G5 (dual 2.0GHz or faster), or an iMac G5 (1.9GHz or faster). iDVD requires a 733MHz or faster processor. 512MB of RAM; 1GB recommended. High-definition video requires at least 1GB of RAM. Mac OS X v10.4.9 or later. 3GB of available disk space. DVD drive required for installation. QuickTime 7.2 or later. Other configurations may be supported. AVCHD video and 24-bit recording have additional requirements. Visit iMovie ’08 Camcorder Support for more information on AVCHD. 24-bit recording in GarageBand ’08 requires a Mac OS X compatible audio interface with support for 24-bit audio. Please consult the owners manual or manufacturer directly for audio device specification and compatibility. Burning DVDs requires an Apple SuperDrive or compatible third-party DVD burner. iPhoto print services are available in the U.S., Canada, Japan, and select European countries. Internet access required; fees and terms apply. iWeb requires Internet and web server access (.Mac recommended). Some features in iLife require .Mac. The .Mac service is available to persons age 13 and older. Annual membership fee and Internet access required. Terms and conditions apply. You will see that even though at this point about 1.5 years ago Apple sold G4 systems, they are left out in the cold. Who knows if this is an "Apple requirement" or an actual "You're not allowed" requirement. iWork's requirements aren't up yet, as the link hits iWork 06 requirements. cavillor
Much, much better than '06. The addition of the formatting bar has made it actually usable as a word processor. In '06, it sucked both as a word processor and as page layout software -- now that I'm using Quark, I haven't gotten a chance to test it at laying out pages, but as a word processor it is now definitely usable. Who knows if this is an "Apple requirement" or an actual "You're not allowed" requirement. ??? The way I read it it is just iMovie that doesn't support the G4. More than likely it is a processing power requirement. Without hardware help from a video card like the new gen cards (ATI 2x00/Nvidia 8x00) you need a decently beefy CPU to manipulate video. Colonel Ingus
The way I read it it is just iMovie that doesn't support the G4. Yes. iLife ’08 will run on PowerPC G4 and G5-based Macs as well as all Intel-based hardware; however, iMovie requires either a Mac with an Intel-based processor, a Power Mac G5 with a dual 2GHz chip or faster, or an iMac G5 with a processor running at 1.9GHz or faster. The suite requires 512MB of RAM and OS X 10.4.9 or later, so it will work fine even with the new Mac Minis. EFI
According to the reviews I saw on Demonoid, there is a tracking cookie in this version. You're being watched is you steal this one... Do you have a link to this "tracking". I've read the comments and I cannot find this. Not that I'm getting it from there. (seriously I'm not). I'll be getting it through the Apple education store. Just wondering though. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59286-ilife-08-and-iwork-08-introduced/#findComment-423427 Share on other sites

(seriously I'm not). I'll be getting it through the Apple education store. Just wondering though. There is a cookie that installs itself. The allegations of it being a tracking cookie could be exaggerated according to further research into the demonoid reviews. Since I can't post the link (as we can't link a torrent on here) check it out for yourself. iLifeCookie.pkg installs a text file to /private/var/tmp/.BlankFile Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59286-ilife-08-and-iwork-08-introduced/#findComment-424333 Share on other sites
Colonel Ingus
Since they're calling it iLife 08 and not iLife 07, I wonder if that's a hint that they won't be updating it anytime soon...
