spawn
btw. I did some testing on my ASRock-Dual 915GL and this is what i found. I have another pc box with Asus P4P800 Deluxe with Pentium 4 Prescott 3.4 GHZ HT and of course ASRock with Celeron D 2.2 ghz so guess what. i did some Xbench testing on both machines My ASUS SCORED like 72 Point ( there is no CI and QE supporth though ) My ASRock only 34 Xbench points. so i moved the better chip P4 3.4 to ASRock mobo because i liked the score... and then i was really supprised !! after i installed P4 in my ASRock mobo i got only 52 Points !!! (what happened!!??? ) I Guess ASROCK is better with Celeron D i think there is an issue with mobo prescott architecture.. too dam slow so i did crank my 2.2 celeron to 2.5 works like a champ it is stable and really close to 52Points P4 3.4 ghz i have ordered Celeron D 350 3.2 GHZ to test and as soon as i get it i will update my results here.. i think its the best CPU for the Money on this mobo. I'm thinking of getting ATI 9800 Pro 128 !!! is that a good choice ???? Thanks in Advance for any Tips on Graphic Card subject.. btw do you guys get crashes in web browsers all the time ??? drives me crazy...... dasepsilon
a bit offtopic: has anyone an idea how to control the speed of the fan?? though my fan could do 800rpm it runs with 2500rpm and the bios features are missing (damn {censored}!).. anyone has an idea how to unlock the feature? (speedfan didnt work neither ) and as usual i also have the sleep and shutdown problem- doesnt sleep completely and also doesn't shutdown-, but i also have the sleep (suspend- to-ram) problem in windows (and except my usb-keyboard there were no other stuff connected, nor any pci-card or whatsoever). don't like that board anymore Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/5557-asrock-dual-915gl-owners/page/2/#findComment-48348 Share on other sites
slylock
I built a second OSx86 box recently, following the famous "$200 Mac" guide exactly, including all the listed hardware. But I was surpised to find that the P4Dual would not post with the spec'd DDR 266 RAM sticks. I put them in another board and ran memory tests on them, and the sticks check out 100%, but if I put either one in the P4Dual, it sits there silently refusing to post. I substituted some faster memory, and it posted fine. Anyone else have this experience? Dave A
Does anyone know where to get this motherboard? I've looked around on the internet, but every place I found it was sold out of them. Do they even still make these anymore? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/5557-asrock-dual-915gl-owners/page/2/#findComment-55343 Share on other sites
cavemonkey50
Just for the record, I installed 10.4.4 on my ASRock P4Dual-915GL, and everything is working just as well as it did in 10.4.3. Besides following Maxxuss' instructions I just had to copy my audio and networking kext. squeak freely
Greetings all - Pre-newbie here. There sits my ASRock P4 Dual 915GL. I wanna go buy a cpu today...or sell this thing and keep sifting through data that you all have posted. I saw the 915GLVL are back at newegg.com I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that refurbs are available. I'm thinking of bailing on the P4 dual because it's a 478. Thoughts? A Celeron D 340 ? A Pentium 4 2.8A ? Go buy an etch a sketch? Colonel
My system works fine with 10.4.5. I can't seem to OC it though. It won't start up correctly with anything but the default settings. My Celeron D works great. I recomend it if you have a tight budget. Edit: The whole Mobo fried. Time for a new one. G_G
Ok, I just put a few USB devices to the test. 1. Apple USB keyboard and mouse.... Shut down OK. 2. Sony digital camera.... Shut down OK. 3. DLink wireless USB adapter. BINGO. All three tests were done with USB Legacy Support turned off. Just for kicks I tried turning it on. Same results as above. Spawn is right on the money. cavemonkey50
Has anyone upgraded to 10.4.6 yet? Particular the latest Myzar patch (v3). I'm really tempted to upgrade, but I don't want to ruin my fully working Maxxuss 10.4.5 install.
