Is there a way or a programm with which I can use my apple remote under xp?

I'm just curious. Would be smooth giving a presentation and controlling powerpoint with that sleek remote.

I'm using a Thinkpad T60 which has an ir device at the front, so that should not propose a problem.

anyone have a hint a which software I should have a look at?

I'm pretty sure that the Apple remote and the Macs are paired up so that they'll only work with each other, and no other machines, but correct me if I'm wrong. I know on a real mac, the boot camp drivers allow you to use the apple remote on XP.

Remotes and Macs are only paired if you choose to pair them. By default, any remote will control any remote-enabled Mac.

Additionally, you might have joy getting the boot camp driver to work on a non-apple machine if the IR device is a USB device, and you can hack the IDs the driver is looking for....

... good luck!

but why the drivers. doesn't make sense, because my ir port is already beeing seen by xp.

what i need is a programm, that can remap the commands it gets from the remote to keyborad keys or something like that

Well it wouldn't be the Apple remote, but there are several 3rd party remotes (I use Keyspan) that work on both Mac/Hackintosh and Windows. The Keyspan is like $30, works with Front Row and iTunes, and can be custom configured to control other apps.

The Apple Remote works with Microsoft's eHome 2005 receiver in OSX so theoretically it should work with Windows Media Center as well. Has anyone tried? I have the Apple Remote & MCE installed on a PC but I don't have the ir receiver.
