Here's my .02 :thumbsup_anim:

As a PC Network Tech, I have to dual-boot my machine from OSx86 and XP Pro (some of my work tools are proprietarily Redmond-Centric), but lately I've been using the HackBook (ha ha) for everything else.

If I can get Active Directory working properly on the HackBook I can install many of the tools in CrossOver, then I could theoretically run it fulltime.

For me, and I suspect many users, there are specific needs for both OSes - plus, until the QuartzExtreme and CoreImage flakiness get worked out for the ATI x200M - I'll continue to dual boot.

As much as we'd love otherwise, it's still an MS world in the enterprise :D I'm just happy to fit in somewhere with both and grateful to this community's outreach and support to those of us who are "newbs" to the OSx86 scene.

Hats off to the admins and members who take the time, it's appreciated!

I want to switch to using MacOSX full time, but want to keep my XP partition just in case.

Here's my question. I have MACOSX setup to dual boot with Xp on my laptop. I was wondering if there is any way to increase the size of the MacOS partition? Could I just use GParted live cd or something to reduce XP's partition and grow the mac partition?

My install is perfectly capable of being full time, but I still switch to Vista every now and then just for a change. Sometimes I get bored of OS X, or sometimes Windows does certain things better. I usually switch back to OS X when I get bored of Vista. Its a cycle.

Just for Info, clone your OSX to a place, delete the partition, create the new partition of a bigger size, then clone the OSX backup back, this is the only way you can upgrade your partition size on Hack. :) CloneTool helps. Remember to donate if you find it helpful. :)

i use my hackintosh as my primary computer. once i got my wireless dongle working in osx86 i took my PC offline for upgrades (lol keep forgetting to get a hs/f) because it was a noisy {censored}. the only program i need windows for is msn, and parallels coherency makes the windows beta 8.5 seamless on my desktop.

i made my dell 8400 into a hackintosh for more than a few weeks now and left windows behind, i dont regret it at all!!!!

if anyone can tell me how to upgrade Jas 10.4.8 Dvd to 10.4.9 it would be great, thanx in advance

Want to do some upgrade to quad or dual xeon, dunno yet. I need more power for Final Cut. ;)

I'm thinking of doing that too, but wait until after Sunday. Q6600s are dropping to $266 per lot (retail will be a bit higher, but it's still going to be a huge price drop).

I was using my Dell Dimension 5150 Hackintosh as my primary box until I updated it to 10.4.9. Now I get multiple kernel panics a day. Seems to be related to networking since the KP's typically happen when the shared drives and printers are being accessed from other machines. I should have stayed with 10.4.8. I'm now using my Powerbook as my primary box.

running mac 24/7 even for serious stuff like Adobe CS3/Final Cut/Logic/Corel Painter, rock stable. No windows installed at all.

Hi, I'm a little off topic here, but... You are saying that your alc882 is fully functional, I was wandering if you can post what you dit to get it work... I have a asus P5LD2 with this audio and I have only 2 channels working. Would be nice to have them all. And one more thing.. I asume edimax wifi is on usb, right? Sorry again for off topic.

well, it is installed as the default partition, but I have to say I still boot to Windows a lot for several reasons:

Network bridge which is a necessity for my xbox 360. if I knew how to create a network bridge in OS X, my XP bootage would be even less.

There is also games. Ah, this PC was built to game. It is starting to show its age, but OS X still lets me use the power in it fine.
