Well I noticed that the apple store is closed today when I went to check out their refurb section. The store's temporary closure coincides with the National Associations of Broadcasters event that apple is presenting at. Apparently the store site has been down since ~11AM (pacific USA time, -08:00GMT) today per macrumors.com (go there to checkout a live update of what's going on if your interested). Guess we'll all see what new things are available when the store reopens later today!

Apple announced the following products today:

Final Cut Server

- $999 for 10 concurrent users

- $1999 for unlimited users

Final Cut Studio 2

- Final Cut Pro 6, Motion 3, Soundtrack Pro 2

Apple ProRes 422 Format

- Next-gen Post Production format

- Uncompressed HD quality at SD file sizes

- 10-bit, 4:2:2, full raster, VBR

IO-HD

- Hardware box that provides realtime conversion into ProRes 422

- Available in July

- $3495

In the system requirements for FCS, it says that Quicktime 7.1.6 (unreleased) is required. We should expect an update within the next day or so.

QuickTime 7.1.6 or later
wow that sucks, they are basically making you pay for their pro series of computers

I agree that sucks, but they want everyone to buy macbook pros and mac pros :hysterical:

I'm really intersted in the Color program. Those of you who do any professional editing may notice that the color layout looks just like the Program "Scratch".

This software update will take over more and more pro editors. HOWEVER! The one lacking program is Soundtrack 2. It doens't look like it'll come close to Pro Tools. Then again, Pro tool's plugins are what makes it work so well, and some of the high end functions as well.

We'll see what's packaged with Soundtrack 2 before I bash it. The 5.1 feature is a cool thing, but if you have ever talked to any sound mixer, it's a huge Pain to actually mix correctly, especially if you don't have hand controls. We'll see how well that works.

yea at my church i am the only one who uses FCP and others use Adobe Premier to make their videos. in the Premier they have the tool Color but a simpler form without all the presets that Color has, i was happy to see that i will have it soon.
