toddicus
I'm not sure but you could try starting up while holding the shift key, it should keep all the kernel extensions from loading, maybe you'll default to 1024x768 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/40835-change-resolution-via-keyboard/#findComment-291754 Share on other sites
gnomes
well considering the laptop actually displays the resolution- OS X just doesn't display anything (it only shows the cursor for some reason), even if i started in 1024x768 im not sure it'd fix the problem. i'll try it though. nody
CAn you boot to Os?? If so do get your mouse to the left top of youre screen and click, then with youre keyboard using down arrow tap 4 times, and enter; write displays enter and click once on youre tab key on the keyboard; finally 2 or 3 times with up arrow, enter and with luck youre set to go tell me if that worked Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/40835-change-resolution-via-keyboard/#findComment-292684 Share on other sites
Neonkoala
Have you tried booting into safe mode with -x ? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/40835-change-resolution-via-keyboard/#findComment-293850 Share on other sites
gnomes
first method doesnt work. second method: it boots in 1280x800 for safe mode, and then if i log out and restart, it boots back up in 1280x800 for the log in screen, but soon as i log in, it goes back to the unsupported resolution. dvornik
I suspect you'd need to edit some text file... Some sudo nano thing (in safe mode)... I'm new to this myself. See if this helps http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=40004 Edited February 5, 2007 by dvornik Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/40835-change-resolution-via-keyboard/#findComment-294354 Share on other sites

I recently installed Macvidia, and was running on an external display, and thought I could change my resolution, but when I did it automatically changed to a black screen, and I thought maybe if I waited 15 seconds like on Windows it would revert, but it didnt. So I went searching on here, and sure enough I found this, which worked perfectly, and now I can see my screen again! Thanks alot man!
