If you control the number of ports of each XHC controller to less than 15, you naturally don't need the XHCIPortLimit patch.

Maybe you misunderstood something? There is no conflict between lifting the 15-port restriction and customizing USB.

Ok thanks for letting me know. I thought it was either one or the other.

My brief summary of the latest tests with macOS Tahoe 26.2 Beta 2

Windows Server keeps crashing. This always returns you to the login screen, forcing you to log in again.

Opening an image, whether JPEG or PNG, takes almost a minute before the preview appears.

It also takes an extremely long time to open two windows, and closing one of them often results in a Windows Server crash,

again returning you to the login screen.

It's definitely not my late 2013 iMac (27-inch), as I have an Intel i7 processor and 32 GB of RAM.

Everything works flawlessly on macOS Sequoia 15.7.

My strong suspicion is that the problem lies solely with the lack of support for Nvidia graphics cards.

I've now concluded that Tahoe 26 is unusable on a late 2013 iMac.

This iMac is only compatible with macOS Sequoia 15.7 or later. Anything else is completely pointless

and a waste of time to even consider the Tahoe 26.

I cannot understand how some people with the same late 2013 iMac (21.5 or 27 inch) can be "satisfied" with it,

even without full graphics support.

And I highly doubt that full graphics support for NVIDIA graphics cards will ever be available.

Works better with R9 like this iMac 27" working Sequoia 15.5 and running last OCLP. This is my "new" toy ;)

That's right, @Max.1974 with a Radeon R9 there definitely won't be any problems, as the graphics are fully supported.

Even though you can buy these 27-inch iMacs from 2017, 2019, or even 2020 cheaply, it's no longer worth it since Intel support is now discontinued.

@deeveedee this is the USB Mapping kext generated using USBToolBox script in Windows. It’s an universal kext that works for both Sequoia and Tahoe.

Thank you.  I have not tried USBToolBox in Windows, but you've piqued my curiosity - I'll try it.

I'm almost afraid to reply to this for fear of opening up a conversation that has already been beaten to death.  There is no point in testing NVidia on Tahoe until OCLP patching is available.  It will be available - just be patient.

Dear friend @deeveedee you don't need to worry or be concerned that a new discussion about Nvidia graphics cards will start.

I and other users have probably also noticed that it's pointless to continue this discussion at the moment.

I'll simply stick with the flawlessly running Sequoia 15.7 and that's that.

Only God knows if an OCLP will ever come along that fully supports Nvidia graphics 🙂

I won't get worked up about it anymore or write anything more about it. For me, the matter

with my late 2013 iMac (27-inch) and Tahoe is closed and "filed away," as we say here in Germany.

@jlrycm Some of the ports in your USB map are not mapped for Tahoe.  Is that intentional?

Problem with Disk Utility on both Tahoe (26.2) and Sequoia (15.7.3).  Disk Utility keeps asking for a password and it won't take mine (I am admin on both systems).  I can't change permissions because it keeps saying its on a read only file system - but this is the only utility that asks for a password (and then rejects my password) By the way, fyi, both systems are on different disks.  I have a secondary user, which I promoted to admin, logged in as that user and tried it, but no go - same problem.

I also have logged in to Recovery and checked out things there and ran First Aid - no effect, same problem after rebooting.

Anyone else noticed this issue or is it just me?

EDIT:  As many of you know, I have Apple M systems and this does not happen on them (Tahoe 26.1 release).

macOS Tahoe updates on this hack are still going smoothly.  Upgrade from Tahoe 26.2 Beta 2 -> Beta 3 was easy.

Screenshot2025-11-17at3_16_24PM.png.1bd04ec327e1e795e79b33581d9cde41.png

I'm still using Acidanthera's WhateverGreen.kext 1.7.0, so I need boot-arg -wegnoegpu to perform the upgrade.  My complete upgrade process is as follows:

  • Temporarily disable BluetoolFixup.kext and add boot-arg -wegnoegpu (I have a USB thumbdrive with the modified config.plist so that I don't need to touch the EFI on my SSD).  Adding boot-arg -wegnoegpu disables dGPU output, but my iGPU-connected displays remain active.
  • Boot with the modified EFI and apply the macOS update
  • Restore BluetoolFixup.kext, remove boot-arg -wegnoegpu (in my case, boot with the SSD EFI) and reboot
  • Since I'm using VoodooHDA.kext for Tahoe audio, I don't need to touch SIP or apply any post-install patches after the update.  SIP stays at csr-active-config = <01000000> and VoodooHDA.kext 3.0.3 remains installed in /Library/Extensions
  • Also, since VoodooHDA.kext is installed in Tahoe's /Library/Extensions and AppleALC.kext is injected by Open Core, macOS versions prior to Tahoe continue to use AppleHDA with the same EFI.  The only change that affects previous versions of macOS (since I'm multibooting with the same EFI) is that SIP is relaxed with csr-active-config = <01000000>.

I'm disapointed that Dortania documentation continues to includes statements about bad VoodooHDA sound quality.  That is simply not true.

EDIT: Also easy upgrade of my HackBookPro16,2 (also using VoodooHDA.kext 3.0.3 for Tahoe audio).

Perfect in NEW: waiting for the macOS 26.2 Tahoe beta 3 KDK with WhateverGreen.kext (+++) 1.7.1 d7

you could use a frame buffer in your plist instead of WEG KEXT  and  KDK Version: 26.2_25C5037) works with (25C5048a) and mykextinstaller to get sound working

@deeveedee good catch - I missed editing the ports for the RP21 (Thunderbolt). Let me fix that quickly. Thank you!

You're not the only one... I have the same issue in Disk Utility, and also when trying to run programs that require confirmation;

sometimes you have to enter the password four times before it's accepted.

Oh well, those are normal beta bugs.

Anto65 and deveedee, who already have Beta3, could report whether this error is still present in Beta3.

Yes, this bug is still present in Beta 3.  I'm now down to authenticating twice and then it goes away.

And, thanks for responding!

I was having problems, the Beta 3 update wasn't showing up only on my MacBook Pro 2019 (16 Zoll).

Then I found the new, up-to-date tool on the Apple Developer website, and now the update is working immediately.

You can choose whether to download the Public or Developer Beta.

Here it is in case anyone needs it:

Thanks, I know, I've tested it, and I know it works. I also have a video posted on the subject.image.png.c5be7a5a4321930cd8c29d6533484204.png

To all: sorry for this OFF-Topic

Many Hackintoshers talk about KDK with the macOS Tahoe version number. Sorry, but I don't know what the point of installing it is.
After doing some research, I couldn't find any answers. Can you explain it to me?

I am not experiencing this "bug" on any of my hacks with Tahoe Beta 3.  Some details that may help to isolate the cause:

I use the following:

  • VoodooHDA.kext 3.0.3 for Tahoe audio, so I am not using AppleHDA patches and I keep csr-active-config = <01000000>
  • Acidanthera WhateverGreen.kext 1.7.0 (so I still need to add boot-arg -wegnoegpu when I update Tahoe)
  • Open Core 1.0.6 Release

EDIT: Also, I am not using Broadcom Wi-Fi  in Tahoe (and thus I am not using any Wi-Fi post-install patches).  For Wi-Fi in Tahoe, I am using Intel Open Wireless itlwm with Heliport.  I am also using Intel Bluetooth.
