trav1085
I created this 3-D model of an Apple iMac in SketchUp Pro. It's like CAD but really isn't. rolodex
the details were great but it seems odd. (maybe scale?) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36143-apple-imac-model/#findComment-257277 Share on other sites
trav1085
I'm aware it's not really in porportion or in scale much. The screen is wider than most of the models. The bottom stand is more bulky and less smoothed, I didn't really take the time to make it smoother. The sides and corners aren't rounded for sure. I don't know how to do that, but am going to find out. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36143-apple-imac-model/#findComment-257287 Share on other sites
Guest IanP
Hey, if you need to bevel the edges, here is how: -Take the corner of the shape you want to bevel | |___ -Draw a "cut" across the corner with a pencil tool | |\__ -Select the move tool, and lock it on whatever axis the edge of the corner travels (so it only travels along that axis). Move the line you just drew in completely across the edge to the other side, so it is in the exact same spot as the other line, just on the opposite side. -Delete the leftover 4 edges. If looking at the shape from the top, it should look like this: | \__ You know what? Hold on. I am switching into windows. I can show you better in there. kevin_4e
I'd say the same as the person above. The details looked really great but a little off scale. Looks good though Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36143-apple-imac-model/#findComment-286970 Share on other sites
eggie
turned out good a little bit boxy but it looks like a 23" i mac to me when you want to make model that looks proper go to the apple site an look around for the dimensions of the product, i used the official dimensions or some kind of document which had the dimensions of thing that you are drawing ( in this case an i mac),for my cad models i used them and they come in handy when to want to get the proportions all right although in some cases you will need to guess things and just reference to picures Edited January 28, 2007 by eggie Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36143-apple-imac-model/#findComment-287066 Share on other sites
kevin_4e
When looking back at it, now I don't necessarily think it's out of proportion, but the back view makes it look a little boxy. Great job once again Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36143-apple-imac-model/#findComment-287691 Share on other sites
