cankiulascmnfye
@eSaF Can't find the problem. I created a completely new EFI for testing. I also tried my Clover config. I think, I skip this beta. SInce it's on an spare disk for testing I don't really care about it at the moment. 2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/356881-pre-release-macos-sonoma/page/63/#findComment-2810583 Share on other sites

I know newer systems have zero problems with pcie nvme booting but mine is 8+years old Skylake Z170. Still rock solid tho. Hi my friend, im was used for long time on my old retired GA Z170 XP SLI, great mobo BTW, is quiet on my stuffs, and was used in all my MOBOS, because this is a NVME PCI-e x16 express, but because one x16 slot to GPU like AMD, its possible use x8 or x4 slots. Works fine and good, even not impress or lost constancy or velocity to run any operational system. I retired this express Nvme external too, because my Z790 Aorus Elite AX have many slots to M.2 Nvme cards/ssd. mendietinha
Latest beta surprisingly smooth and fast fresh install on my old lappy. Good temps, pm, performance. Intel 3165 wifi-bt combo no problems. HDMI as always fine since sur. 3 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/356881-pre-release-macos-sonoma/page/63/#findComment-2810589 Share on other sites
cankiulascmnfye
A clean install resolved the issue. I think this was the fastes macOS install I can recall ever. There wasn't even a "Time Remaining" on the progress bar. Can't be long until the official release, I guess. 2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/356881-pre-release-macos-sonoma/page/63/#findComment-2810590 Share on other sites
MorenoAv
Hi all good morning, I solved all my problems, made a fresh install, rebuild my EFI and now it works flawlessly... cankiulascmnfye
@eSaF: Probably. During the clean installl I noticed that the stage when the Setup-Assistant kicked-in, this was about the time the system halted during my previous OTA update attempt from b5 to b6. I checked the manual (Asus Maximus VIII Gene) but no info is provided about such scenario. I have spare nvme's that I want to use for test. It's unconvenient to remove the GPU and replace the nvme everytime since I have only one m.2 pcie slot. Just to confirm that I was able to clean install MacOS Sonoma Beta 6 to a brand new WD SN770 1TB hooked on PCIe NVME Adapter AND BOOT from it without any problems. System is blazing fast and the NVME never exceeds 45'C under load. Did you modify the BIOS ? I sold my Ivy Bridge hack (Gigabyte Z77X-D3H + i7 3770K + GTX 770) with a fresh install of Mojave 10.14.2 (mid december 2018). Worked rock solid back then but never tried m.2 drives on it. CloverLeaf
All good here. OS is rock solid. Love it! I bought cheap RX 570 4GB for testing my Skylake rig but I am lazy enough so I just applied the OCLP and postponed it for the next week Edited August 30, 2023 by CloverLeaf 7 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/356881-pre-release-macos-sonoma/page/63/#findComment-2810665 Share on other sites
