No. Keep a USB OC stick with a working config handy.

Workaround : if you can get into OC Shell from the OC boot menu, then you can use shell commands to to navigate to the the EFI/OC folder and rename the filename of your working backup copy of the config to config.plist.

Thanks - I currently do the test with the USB stick and keep the working baseline on my SSD.  Not difficult - just wondering.

Anyone who has this issue about AllowSetDefault?

when used previous macOS version(11.0), there is no problem.

but since update 11.1 beta1, in bootpicker, press ctrl+number, then boot macOS, and check nvram -p, there is no autostart(?) nvram key.

restart system, no default boot partition that i pressed it.

 

my laptop use latest OC version(last commit) with native nvram.

Default entry is not in the Apple GUID.

There is nothing regarding set default at all, probably your config and/or hotkey support is broken.

i can input key except ctrl, fn, windowskey, alt, shift key.

weird my macos mojave 10.14.6 it wont boot using OC 0.6.5 but it boots fine under bigsur 11.0.1,,had no boot issue using OC 0.6.3...specs pentium g5400,sapphire rx 570,ga-h310m h 2.0

But i want to easily use ctrl + index in Bootpicker.

Not sure I completely understand your ctrl + index requirement, but ctrl + enter works fine.  In OC 0.6.5, if I clear NVRAM, I can always restore my default boot option by using ctrl + enter in the Bootpicker.  Then during subsequent boots, the selection that I "ctrl + entered" is always chosen by default.

okay. here is summary about my issue.
 
UEFI - Input - KeySupportMode.
 
Auto : probably my system chosen V2. but cursor is freeze after cursor moved 3 times over quickly or normally. both ctrl + index and enter is working. i can use "AllowSetDefault"
V1: cursor is not freeze, both ctrl + index and enter isn't working. i never use "AllowSetDefault". i tried it at many times
V2: cursor is freeze after cursor moved 3 times over quickly or normally. both ctrl + index and enter is working. i can use "AllowSetDefault"
AMI: everything is not working. i can't type any keys in bootpicker.
 
can i use both V1 and "AllowSetDefault" option without freezing?

Hi all! I have at home 2 old PCs and I started for fun to BS Hackintosh them. HP xw4600 (Intel core2 quad q9300, 8GB DDR2 SDRAM, RX470 NITRO+) works like a dream with all the mac features ( :) I mean all), but for the other, HP DC7800 (Core2 Duo E7200, HD7750, 8GB DDR2 SDRAM), its impossible to make emulated NVRAM working. In attach: orig tables, IOReg, OC debug, OC folder.

Ok - maybe I'm missing something.  Part of that thread was intended to show how to emulate NVRAM and then to provide a work-around for installing Big Sur.  Are you saying you followed the Dortania NVRAM emulation and that didn't work for you?

Yep! No nvram.plist, no variables kept. More or less the same machine HP xw4600 (same, without native nvram) works OK with emulated.

Update:

After a lot of tryings and search it was a bad LogoutHook.command compilation. I change it and all OK now. HP DC7800 full working with latest BS beta. Kind a happy!!!!!
