BillDH2k
Anyone had success with Dual Xeon setup? I've been trying to install Sonoma on HP Z820 (X79, Dual 2680V2), but could only succeed with single CPU setup. Dual CPUs would give random lockup during booting (not KP), before reaching desktop. It only works with Single CPU unfortunately There is one exception, I was successful with HP Z620 with 2x 2680V2 (but forgot the detail if the Sonoma was installed with a single CPU 1st, then added 2nd CPU back - Z620 is using CPU add-on card so it is easy to add/remove 2nd CPU. But I will do a separate test to verify if I could install Sonoma with dual CPU). Z820 is a different story, if the 2nd CPU is installed, Sonoma could no longer boot (random lockup before reaching desktop). Follow up: I was able to install Somoma 14.3 on HP Z620 with dual CPU configuration (2x2680V2). Occasionally, I still experience a random lockup during booting, but rebooting was normally successful. Once boot up, it runs without issue. BrushEatingGoat
Hey all, I've been trying with no success, even just using the EFI as is, but when I select my EFI drive in the BIOS Boot Screen, it goes nowhere, shows no boot options, no errors pop up, and open core log is blank. I tried the USB mapper in Windows to get the kext, but I'm guessing I updated my config.plist incorrectly. I also tried going with MP6,1, but no luck. I'm good with just having Monterey on it, but I've stalled out. System specs: E5-2667v2 ASUS P9X79 Pro XFX RX 5600XT Currently trying to boot to a SATA drive, but eventually would try to install to an NVME. secure boot is off. The above boots Windows and Linux just fine, so the hardware is solid. config.plist is below, if that helps. config.plist Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/350002-installing-sonomaventuramontereybig-sur-on-all-x79-motherboard-like-huananzhi-chinese-gigabyte-asus-etc-and-powermanagement/page/4/#findComment-2818772 Share on other sites

BrushEatingGoat
I downloaded the EFI zip in the OP, mapped my USB drives, and tried to add that USBmap kext to my config.plist. I also changed the system serial to go with a 6,1MP. Copied it all to the EFI drive on a properly formatted SATA disk, and then tried to boot to that EFI partition. In one instance, I saw a boot option list, but I wasn't fast enough to select a drive before it went with my Windows install on another drive. Haven't had any luck since then, and no errors are showing. I'm somewhat familiar with OpenCore, as I have it installed on my 5,1MP to run Monterey. I even tried doing all this through the GitHub instructions for OpenCore, but I'm just hitting a wall somewhere every time. Unfortunately, my available time to troubleshoot is pretty limited these days, but I'd love to get macOS going on my Ivy Bridge-E system for photo editing, as the 5,1 is quite a bit slower in that regard. First use the EFI as it is. If it does not work then use SSDT-X79 and check. If that doesn't work then you can use my DSDT if you have Chinese X79. If you have your own DSDT then you can use that as well. You need to enable AppleCpuPmCfgLock, AppleXcpmCfgLock and AppleXcpmExtraMsrs if you are getting kernel panic. Now when you boot into the Mac you will have all the USB Working properly. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. SSDT-X79 included in the EFI folder already has everything needed so please don't change any settings in config. It will go smoothly. 4. Reboot Enjoy....!!! Note: For some motherboard using CpuTSCSync.kext causes Kernel Panic, Solution: Use VoodooTSCSync.kext instead Bios Settings: 1. If you still have issue with USB while using my EFI then go into the Bios and Disable EHCI and XHCI Handoff or vice versa. For PowerManagement do the following: 1. Create SSDT-PMC, SSDT-PLUG from windows using SSDTTime.exe 2. Create SSDT-PM using ssdtprgen method 3. Place these files in ACPI folder and also enable them in the config.plist. 4. So you should have SSDT-PM, SSDT-PMC, SSDT-PLUG (Optional) ACPI and SSDT-X79 (Note: For some users SSDT-X79 is breaking power management so disable SSDT-X79 and add SSDT-EC.aml and SSDT-UNC.aml instead)) 5. As my CPU has only 12 threads I have only kept the first 12 and will be removing the rest that I have shown in the image below. 3. Save this file as DSDT.aml 4. Place this DSDT.aml in the ACPI Folder 5. Reboot. Now there will be no random reboots while rebooting. On a ??? (without name) "X79 Server" board with 2 E5-2697v2, never success, but these mobo doesn't work very well in Windows, then no hope for MacOS. With Catalina, it is necessary to add MCEReporterDisabler.kext in the EFI because Apple add a reporter to avoid install of 10.15+ on dual socket systems. This kext doesn't work with 11 Big Sur and higher. I have try (on X9DAi) with an other SMBIOS (iMacPro), Monterey or Big Sur boot without MCEReporterDisabler.kext but the system freeze completely after about 1 minute, if I works with or not. I think there is a problem with XCPM, probably I should set another setting? I would like also try solutions of these tread, because Sleep is working, but not Wake. Trying this (and upgrade with the two E5-2697 v2 of the X79 Server) is on my (long!) to-do list The JingSha/Kllisre Dual X79 needs patches for the RAM. The BIOS shown 12 banks of RAM per CPU and the mobo have only 4 per CPU. These cheap chinese mobo (and X79 Server all well) doesn't have a optimized BIOS... It doesn't have Sleep in Windows nor MacOS. I try flash the BIOS of X79 Server with the one of a similar HuananZhi, but the chip is too small 😕 Dual processoring is less useful now, because most of the tasks optimized for Multithreading (Cinema4D, ffmpeg, ...) run better now on graphic cards than CPU Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/350002-installing-sonomaventuramontereybig-sur-on-all-x79-motherboard-like-huananzhi-chinese-gigabyte-asus-etc-and-powermanagement/page/4/#findComment-2823972 Share on other sites
jfdemiddeleer
I want also try the patches of this threads on my JingSha X79-P3 mobo. I had a lot of difficulties to install Mojave on it, because the core count of the Xeon E5-2667 v2 are special (80, 82, 84, 00, 02...) and it was a long way to find how edit the DSDT.aml file Strangely, these CPU work very well in an real MacPro6,1 but I have recently seen the E5-1680 v2 of a real MacPro having the same core count problem in Hackintoshes. With another CPU (E5-2630L v2 or E5-2697 v2) there is no need of this kind of DSDT editing For now, the X79-P3 work relatively well with Mojave, except Wake. Sleep/Wake work in Windows, but if I remember it correctly, not in Linux. I always think this is due to VIA USB 3.0 chip who use the Intel driver for work (on some Hackintoshes, adding an USB 3.0 VIA card broke the working sleep as well) but this tread let me hope another solution. The FrescoLogic FL1100 USB 3 chip use it's own driver and doesn't make problem DSDT needs a lot of patches (for CPU, but also for SATA and USB) and I doesn't know if the patches of these thread can work Since I have added SSDT to enable Turbo Boost (up to 4,0 GHz), the inboard soundcard (ALC 889) doesn't work. Probably I should use the patches of these thread : Then, the computer will be obsolete (due to long delay) when we have a perfectly working Hackintosh 😆 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/350002-installing-sonomaventuramontereybig-sur-on-all-x79-motherboard-like-huananzhi-chinese-gigabyte-asus-etc-and-powermanagement/page/4/#findComment-2823977 Share on other sites
