velopitex
Hello team, I haven’t been here for a long time, already miss you guys . I have had some changes with the graphics cards and I need your help for now. I have installed in the PC two GPUs (macOS via rx570 + Windows via rtx2080) how do I need to disable rtx2080 for macOS and use rx570. Vice versa for windows using only rtx2080 and disable rx570? Is it possible with Clover? EDIT: Looks like it works if you insert RX570 in the 1st slot. Need more tests for now but YES! 10.15.5 work as well via RX570 + 2 Display Ports connected. 1st now issue is system go to reboot when I try to wakeup it. Crispymac
Hi, I need some help or tipps, I already tried tons of guides on my hardware but ended up right now with this guide and files. I tried regular clover from Tony... and came through setup and it crashed after first reboot with 12 min remaining, without GPU at that moment. Followingly I searched for z390 aorus pro wifi guides, and this one looks by far the best detail wise. But I must have missed something. My system is: GIGABYTE z390 AORUS PRO WIFI on f12c, i5 9600k; 8gb corsair vengeance in A1(the second stick cant fit in B1 due to CPU cooler, will later switch to A2B2 dual after install) & MSI 5700 MECH OC; Right now the installer reboots and crashes while the reboot happens, when I hit reboot during installer is open manually the reboot crash looks the same. I copied the BIOS setting and tested the clover version as well as the open core one. But I prefer the clover one for easier dual boot option. lots of appreciation for any tips Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/339980-audiogods-aorus-z390-pro-patched-dsdt-mini-guide-and-discussion/page/132/#findComment-2724735 Share on other sites

AudioGod
Maybe even try and boot windows with that setup and on that ssd first and if it installs then run some tests and check for stability. If that works then wipe the ssd and try again but this time with Catalina while still in a bare bone setup to test. Start with an easy one and run memtestx86 and do 4 full passes on the ram with XMP on and make sure theres no errors coming from there. could be the board, it’s hard for me to tell without it sitting in front of me tbh. 1 hour ago, pkdesign said: I know this is a stupid question. What's your cooling? Hackintoshes mostly don't like coolers with advanced capabilities as macOS doesn't support anything other than a variable fan. Make sure your cooling system is actually supported. I'm inclined to do what AG said and strip everything back down to a bare system. Make sure all the components are installed properly and go ahead and hit restore defaults in your BIOS to reset that too. Then set it up again as listed on the first page of this thread. Grab a reliable installer. Not something you made in VMWare or got from a torrent off some site you've never been to before. Grab it direct from the MAS, preferably from a real Mac. Be sure your installer isn't corrupt. Most issues start here. Install either the Clover or OC EFI. That Intel SSD is like a decade old. Make sure it's not at the end of it's life. Intel had massive problems with their SSD line out the gate (anyone remember the 5MB bug?) so make sure that's sanitized. You may actually just want to pull that drive and try to install macOS on the WD NMVe for now. Less variables. If it works, then try on the Intel. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/339980-audiogods-aorus-z390-pro-patched-dsdt-mini-guide-and-discussion/page/132/#findComment-2724787 Share on other sites
hiverdude
Hello! So I've done this install over the past couple days. Most of it worked perfectly for me, and thanks for so much for the resource. I have a couple issues I'm trying to resolve, mostly with thunderbolt. This is a machine I've had for over a year now, my previous install on it was an earlier version of Mojave with BIOS version F9B. This build actually worked quite reliably, but I wanted to upgrade to Catalina for some ridiculous reason, and so I've created my own problems. I upgraded the BIOS to F12D, but I also briefly installed Windows and upgraded the firmware on the Thunderbolt card from version 23 to version 50. I regret doing that, because there's no way for me to go back down easily. I then loaded in the BIOS profile that's been provided, and added the Thunderbolt BIOS settings that I had been using previously for the past year. The EFIs I'm using are the most recent versions, from June 1st. I tried the OC EFI from this thread, but I couldn't get Thunderbolt to work with it, it just wouldn't show up in the System Report. I've never used OC before, so it could be that there's something I wasn't doing to get it to go, but the SSDT I tried (SSDT-Z390-RP21-SLOT4-TB3HP.aml) did nothing. I then tried the Clover EFI, and with that the Thunderbolt SSDT worked instantly. I have 2 problems, the first I'm sure someone can explain to me, but the 2nd I might just have to deal with myself. 1. It's happened twice now that after a reboot, I get the little circle with a cross through it. I took a photo the second time. I turn the computer right off, wait a few seconds and then turn it back on and then it's fine. Does anyone know what that's all about? 2. I have a Logitech Stream Cam that the thunderbolt card sees all the time. However, the main reason I use thunderbolt is for a Sonnet Echo Express chassis that I use to hold Pro Tools HDX cards, this is connected through thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter that I need to use because of some stupid limitation of the Pro Tools cards. The thunderbolt card only sees the Sonnet occasionally. If the chassis is being seen by the computer, but then I restart the computer, it can't see the chassis upon reboot and there is nothing I can do to make it visible at this point. I need to turn the chassis off, then shut down the computer, then power the computer back up, and then turn on the chassis once loaded back into osx. This isn't the end of the world, but back in my previous install of Mojave, the computer always saw chassis, regardless of what I did. Since everything is new, I'm not sure what the culprit can be... but I'm currently guessing it was my firmware upgrade, so I've ordered a new card and we will see. thanks! Something like that, and then 2 lines about OCQuirks. I turned the computer off, waited a few seconds and then turned it back on and it's been working fine since then. Does anyone know what that was all about? KASLR. The macOS kernel cannot allocate space in memory. No idea why you have AptioMemoryFix installed. juan e. jot
Hi folks. I'm happily using AudioGod's 6/1/2020 (sorry if that date format looks weird from the other side of the pond) Clover EFI, but have maintained an interest in the OpenCore implementation. I'm happy to see AudioGod himself rocks the Clover EFI for his daily driver, but I'm also concerned about being left by the wayside as OC takes over more mindshare & support. Luckily it's not too much of an issue for Intel... yet, and we using Clover have access to OcQuirks and get "the best of both worlds...," kinda. Please correct me if this is an inaccurate understanding. I had earlier tried an N-D-K & a regular fork of OpenCore, and just recently dabbled with AudioGod's 6/1 OpenCore 0.5.9 EFI, but was concerned about a couple of issues, below. Also, if OC remains unviable as a bootloader for my daily driver, I then have a follow-on cleanup question: Any possible correlation with video artifacting (in all OSes) that eventually killed two Sapphire Pulse RX580s (luckily, RMA worked, twice, and the current one has been stable for a couple of months)? It may easily NOT be related at all, but the timing of them starting to artifact is merely concurrent with OpenCore being installed at the bootloader. At the time, I had MSR locked, but have since unlocked it (thanks for the 12c file!). Whether locked or not, I did and always have continued to set kernel PM appropriately to the current lock status while using Clover, or set AppleCpuPpuPmCfgLock & AppleXpcmCfgLock appropriately to the current lock status while using Opencore. I have also always removed any " agdpmod=pikera" boot args for my Polaris card (thanks for the heads-up!). My only evidence for any correlation (NOT CAUSATION) at all is that the artifacting started previously while using OpenCore 0.5.5 & 0.5.6, (MSR Locked then, so the two mentioned variables set to YES/True), and persisted under either OC or Clover in any OS, until the cards died. I tried the card in other PCI slots at RMA behest (in Windows, of course), everything I could think of. The previous cards were just fried, but I don't know whether it was bad thermal pad placement/area, power limits getting exceeded (I never overclocked, but who knows where a software variable may have been improperly set, or stock firmware reacted weirdly to "non-standard" software settings.), or what. I'm not blaming OC, and I don't want RMA thinking I'm just continuing to do stupid (well, untested by them... though the cards are rated to work in eGPUs with legit Macs) things with my card, but I am wondering if you think there could be any link at all, or if they were just legitimately bad cards and hopefully I can keep the current one healthy. I currently triple boot (Catalina 10.5.5/Win10 1909 & maybe soon 2004/Linux Mint Tricia 19.3; Catalina on its own NVME drive & Win/Linux on another. Windows got installed first, then Linux, then macOS), but while Clover has no trouble presenting boot entries for all three OSes and successfully booting to them, OpenCore 0.5.9, which now has very macOS-like boot picker icons, only sees Windows or macOS (space bar brings up Recovery, the Time Machine Drive & the all important Clear NVRAM, but no Linux). OC 0.5.9's Configuration.pdf doc is pretty sparse/arcane (Can it be both? Well, it is...) on this matter, and it looks like folks from here to Reddit are similarly flummoxed by adding a boot entry to OC's boot screen. Can you recommend (or, if not too busy, provide) a clear guide to adding a boot entry in a current version of OpenCore? Failing OC being a worthwhile bootloader for me to daily drive for now, if I just go back to using Clover exclusively, can you recommend how to remove the "OpenCore" boot entry that 0.5.9 put in (I haven't seen previous versions do so) into the Boot options of UEFI BIOS? I don't mean "Disable" (I've done that, while I'm back with Clover); I mean remove it. Neither wiping NVRAM nor unseating the CMOS battery seem to have affected its presence amongst the UEFI boot options. Thanks for any insight you can provide! AudioGod
@juan e. jot Just a quick correction from you there, I’m a die hard OpenCore user not clover. the only reason I have clover still is because theres a demand for it but personally I’m 100% OpenCore now. and in no way could a bootloader destroy your Polaris card, that’s pure coincidence buddy. unless your using some sort of power mod table on the gpu that’s just not possible. sorry I can’t help any further at the moment but I’m in the middle of working so I only picked out bits of your very long post. when I have the time I shall read it properly and see what I can do but I’m sure somebody else on here will jump in and help you as there’s a bunch of smarty pants people on here.
