macOS Unlocker V3.0 for VMware Workstation

What is your Host OS? Did this VM work fine before? IF so, what changed?
Such as new Windows Updates installed, and/or new Windows 10 OS version, or maybe move to a newer version of VMware Workstation (such as you moved from 15.0.2 or 15.0.3 to 15.1/etc)?

Was this VM in a shut down, or Saved/Suspended state?

As a rule, always a good idea to fully shutdown all macOS VMs before doing a major change such as Windows 10 version upgrade, or VMware Workstation version update/etc.

Usually, if you have Linux and Windows VMs too, you can leave those running/Suspended, no need to shut those down.

Then if/once your macOS VM(s) work(s), you can then not shut it down and just suspend it as usual. :)

Hey,

Thanks for the reply.  I'm on Windows 10 1903.  My Mac VM was working fine on Vmware 15.0.2.  When I went to update to Windows 10 1903, Windows actually required me to update Vmware to 15.1, saying that 15.0 was incompatible with it.  So then I updated to Vmware 15.1, and then was able to install Windows 10 1903.  The VM had been fully shutdown before either of these updates.  Now, when I try to boot the Mac VM up, it shows the apple logo, with a progress bar that takes a while to get to the halfway mark or so, and then reboots itself and does until I power it down.

I have tried deleting the .nvram file (which has worked before) but that didn't fix anything.  I have also tried unisntalling the unlocker and then putting it back, several times.  Neither of these worked.

Please let me know if you have any ideas.

IF you did not run the macOS Unlocker, please do (latest version).

EDIT: Do NOT replace any files manually this way. Use Unlocker instead.

ok, try out tomorrow ,thnx.

i did, because paths havent been right in the unlocking script.

Tried unlocker 3.02 with the new VMware Workstation 15.5.0.

An existing macOS 10.14 VM boots fine.  However the option to select macOS as the operating system is missing in the VM configuration, so it might be difficult to set up a new macOS VM.

Yupp.  Also, Gettools.exe fails in downloading the latest darwin.iso files.  The URL now appears invalid.  I think VMware reorganized their web site.

I was able to grab the latest darwin.iso form the VMware Fusion 11.5 package, which also was released yesterday.  On a related note I notice that VMware Fusion 11.5 release notes indicate that macOS 10.15 is supported.  So, I suspect that there will not be any problem upgrading a VM to macOS 10.15 in VMware Workstation 15.5.

Latest is 11.5.0 - drill down into the packages folder

Intesting! For 11.5, there is NO Packages folder, how do you drill down?

Note: Older versions somehow do have such a Packages folder, strange?

Oh good point. Didn’t look, assumed it was like before. Must be why assumption URL changed... Sorry, guess I am wrong.

UPDATE: So now they include them in the core package. In the zip - com.vmware.fusion.zip\payload\VMware Fusion.app\Contents\Library\isoimages

Donk, not sure of the bet way to send you a note. Thank you for the awesome work with unlocker. VMware workstation player 15.5 looks like it was released today. It appears that unlocker doesn't yet work with 15.5 on Windows (10). Not complaining, just letting you know. My previously created Mojave VMs still boot. There is no option for macOS in the selction menu although exiting machines show that OS in the drop down box. The radio button for macOS isn't there. The only error during the unlocker install is when it tries to download the latest tools. See below. It seems like the URL for downloading tools is no longer valid. IS there any other info I can provide you? **Sorry if you receive this note in your feed as well.

Help! How to use the script!? (or whatever that is)
I carefully chose to update to version 15.1.0 of VMware Workstation Pro, instead of latest - thinking only latest 15.5 has the issues.

I was WRONG - issue happens with version 15.1.0 too - Unlocker cannot find some files on the Fusion servers.

HELP!?? :(

ok, with this patch with small modification vmware workstation 15.5 was successfully unlocked. Catalina installed without problems. But script can not download vmware tools automatically. Here is unlocker.py. Here is compiled unlocker. It was compiled with python 3. I am not python programmer, but patch was a little modified.

Enjoy!

what do you mean was successfully unlocked?  did it download the  darwin.iso files  or  not?  do you see the option of Mac OS X when you want ot create VM?

edit: can confirm that the unlocker provided works but as mentioned above no tools are downloaded

To download the tools i.e for windows the two files :

darwin.iso
darwinPre15.iso

you should (for now) manually download

http://softwareupdate.vmware.com/cds/vmw-desktop/fusion/11.5.0/14634996/core/com.vmware.fusion.zip.tar

and extract the desired files from directory

com.vmware.fusion.zip\payload\VMware Fusion.app\Contents\Library\isoimages

as last step you must copy the two files into the Vmware Workstation directory

Please post the unlocker.zip for more popular sites, such as google, or onedrive?

I am not the customer of MEGA, so I can not get it.
