  1. Verision 3 of the macOS Unlocker for VMware Workstation and Player. Supports versions: Workstation 11/12/14/15 on Windows and Linux Workstation Player 7/12/14/15 on Windows and Linux https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/963-macos-unlocker-v30-for-vmware-workstation/ https://github.com/DrDonk/unlocker/releases/download/3.0.2/unlocker302.zip https://github.com/DrDonk/unlocker/ readme.txt
  2. Here is a new utility to patch the EFI firmware in VMware Workstation and Fusion to allow the non-server versions of Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard) to run. Yoiu will need macOS unlocker 3 if you are using Workstation on non-Apple hardware. I still have to find a way to do this on ESXi as the UEFIPatch utility will not run in the ESXi console. This currently supports: Workstation 11/12/14/15 on Windows and Linux Workstation Player 7/12/14/15 on Windows and Linux Fusion 10/11 on macOS https://github.com/DrDonk/efi-unlocker/releases/download/1.0.0/efi-unlocker100.zip https://github.com/DrDonk/efi-unlocker Please read the readme.txt file for details. readme.txt
  3. Version 3.0.2

macOS Unlocker V3.0 for VMware Workstation ========================================== +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | IMPORTANT: | | ========== | | | | Always uninstall the previous version of the Unlocker before using a new | | version. Failure to do this could render VMware unusable. | | | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ 1. Introduction --------------- Unlocker 3 is designed for VMware Workstation 11-15 and Player 7-15. If you are using an earlier product please continue using Unlocker 1. Version 3 has been tested against: * Workstation 11/12/14/15 on Windows and Linux * Workstation Player 7/12/14/15 on Windows and Linux The patch code carries out the following modifications dependent on the product being patched: * Fix vmware-vmx and derivatives to allow macOS to boot * Fix vmwarebase .dll or .so to allow Apple to be selected during VM creation * Download a copy of the latest VMware Tools for macOS Note that not all products recognise the darwin.iso via install tools menu item. You will have to manually mount the darwin.iso for example on Workstation 11 and Player 7. In all cases make sure VMware is not running, and any background guests have been shutdown. The code is written in Python. 2. Prerequisites ---------------- The code requires Python 2.7 to work. Most Linux distros ship with a compatible Python interpreter and should work without requiring any additional software. Windows Unlocker has a packaged version of the Python script using PyInstaller, and so does not require Python to be installed. 3. Limitations -------------- If you are using VMware Player or Workstation on Windows you may get a core dump. Latest Linux products are OK and do not show this problem. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | IMPORTANT: | | ========== | | | | If you create a new VM VMware may stop and create a core dump. | | There are two options to work around this issue: | | | | 1. Change the VM to be HW 10 - this does not affect performance. | | 2. Edit the VMX file and add: | | smc.version = "0" | | | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ 4. Windows ---------- On Windows you will need to either run cmd.exe as Administrator or using Explorer right click on the command file and select "Run as administrator". win-install.cmd - patches VMware win-uninstall.cmd - restores VMware win-update-tools.cmd - retrieves latest macOS guest tools 5. Linux --------- On Linux you will need to be either root or use sudo to run the scripts. You may need to ensure the Linux scripts have execute permissions by running chmod +x against the 2 files. lnx-install.sh - patches VMware lnx-uninstall.sh - restores VMware lnx-update-tools.cmd - retrieves latest macOS guest tools 6. Thanks --------- Thanks to Zenith432 for originally building the C++ unlocker and Mac Son of Knife (MSoK) for all the testing and support. Thanks also to Sam B for finding the solution for ESXi 6 and helping me with debugging expertise. Sam also wrote the code for patching ESXi ELF files and modified the unlocker code to run on Python 3 in the ESXi 6.5 environment. History ------- 27/09/18 3.0.0 - First release 02/10/18 3.0.1 - Fixed gettools.py to work with Python 3 and correctly download darwinPre15.iso 10/10/18 3.0.2 - Fixed false positives from anti-virus software with Windows executables - Allow Python 2 and 3 to run the Python code from Bash scripts (c) 2011-2018 Dave Parsons
  4. Hi people there. I am new to the forum but not new to hackintosh. In 2012 I bought a dual xeon 5420 with a tyan board that run successfully os 10.6 for some years. This with a iatkos installer. Then I made a fresh install of 10.8 again from iatkos that runs great as well. This success led me to buy an intel s2600cp board with two 2670 xeons and 128 gb ram. I installed iatkos ml2 on it and it boots fine but the activity monitor only shows 3gb ram. The rest os the system and apps see 128gb, but it will crash when attempting to use more than 3gb, so I think activity monitor is right, and not the system profiler. I have also tried niresh mavericks. It installs and runs great but can´t seem to make the gtx660 work. It works in 10.9 but without any acceleration, and updating to 10.9.5 and using nvidia web drivers makes the screen freeze all the time (the mouse pointer still responds a bit). This is with ge=no. I have also tried ge=yes but I think it just got to a black screen. I have tried all sort of stuff but nothing seems to work. Was using chimera 3.0 and now switched to clover wich has far too many options. One thing I notice is that the screen seems to crash in relationship with disc activity. The more drive reads the more it freezes. There are thousand things I could still try, like different bootloaders, pci slots, graphics cards, freezefix app, etc. But before I loose all of my hair I tought I should ask here if anybody is familiar with this board. I have read of similar builds but not a single one with the s2600cp. I don´t have experience with other installation methods like dsdt or creating a custom installer, just niresh and iatkos. Thought they should be fine as I got past the installer easily. Would be glad to help if anybody is on the same boat. Thanks in advance. Pepo

  7. Hello, sorry if this has been answered in another forum post however i have looked for a solution for a long time. I am trying to run Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite on VMware workstation 10.0.3 (Build 1895310) It loads up to the point of the apple logo and displays this error message ""The CPU has been disabled by the guest operating system. You will need to power off or reset the virtual machine at this point." I have tried to fix this error in many ways, 1 - Enabling SVM or AMD V (Hardware virtualization) in BIOS (was already enabled) (following this guide = http://www.manualslib.com/manual/437993/Gigabyte-Ga-F2a55m-Hd2.html?page=28 ) 2 - Masking CPUID (cpuid.1.eax = "0000:0000:0000:0001:0000:0110:1010:0101") suggested here = http://minhdanh2002.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/fixing-cpu-has-been-disabled-by-guest.html 3 - Enabling PAE (paevm = "TRUE") 4 - Fiddling with VM settings 5 - Reinstalling VMware Workstation My Processor - AMD A8 5600k My Motherboard - Gigabyte F2A55M-HD2 Error message = Thank you for reading - any help is greatly appreciated! -Loz

I want to install it with the least modifications as possible. So could anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks all in advance.

  11. So I've been successfully running Yosemite (10.10.5) under Workstation 11 for the last 6-8 months. Recently I added a USB 3.0 external drive for some data portability. In Workstation 11, I discovered that I need to have USB compatibility set to "USB 2.0" in order for my (Dell) keyboard to work. If I set it to USB 3.0, the mouse works fine but the keyboard stops working (it's just a standard $8 keyboard). Anyway, as a result, access to my external drive is limited to USB 2.0 speeds. Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix things so that I can get USB 3.0 speeds? Can I modify things so that the keyboard & mouse are "connected" via USB 2 while the disk drive is connected via USB 3? How do I do that? Alternately, would upgrading to Workstation 12 solve this issue? I am reluctant to pay for the upgrade since Workstation 11 has been running fine so far. Advice welcome.
  12. Hi there, i've already brought a HP z800&400 to El Capitan, so now i wanna set up a fast rendering machine for VR, VFX and 4k renderings, using the following core components: 1x i7-6950k 2x MSI GAMING GeForce GTX 980 4GB OC 1x ASUS X99-Deluxe II 2x Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB As usually the question arises whether those components will work on El Capitan or not - you dont wanna spend 4k on scrap metal right? And i definitely need Thunderbolt, so will this work with the ASUS X99-Deluxe II? Any information or guidance especially considering the i7-6950k will be appreciated. Thank you in advance mcBane

  14. Hi guys, been researching all day. First-time builder here so any help would greatly be appreciated. However I have some experience adding removing computer parts, just never built one from scratch. I'd like to build a badass workstation, no gaming. I'd also like it to dual boot OSX and Windows 7 so I can cater to clients' needs. Primary software is FCP, Avid, Premier Pro, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, and light Cinema 4d work. I plan to upgrade my graphics card later when the C4d work gets more serious. Again, any help would be hugely appreciated, I'm a total noob! 15.
