My Dell DXP061 has an integrated sound card, it says STAC9227 on the chip. So I tried to use the AppleHDA Patcher version 1.7 with the linux codec dump I got from Knoppix. But it does not work. The patcher seems working fine and updated ALCinject and AppleHDA, once I rebooted the machine, it still says no sound card.

Taruga, can you help on this. The attached is the linux codec dump. Comparing it with the one from the post #1, only significant difference I can see is the subsystemId.

Any help will be appreciated.

hi sundevils, how can i extract linux codec dump?

thx

Alright, there are soooo many emails that I don't have a lot of hope, but here goes....I am trying to hack a hack to see what can be achieved.

At the moment I have a Analog Devices 1984 (AD1984) driven my Intel SoundMax via ICH8m mobo on my ThinkPad T61p (same as T61s and X61s). After a lot of reading and some experimenting this is what I have:

AppleHDA.kext -- hacked my device ID (hex 11d41984 dec 299112836) into the info.plist as well as the binary following the guide. Know I got these right.

AppleHDAController.kext--(for noobs this is a plugin inside the AppleHDA.kext) hacked my device ID into the info.plist and specifically the HDAConfigDefault. I did not find anywhere inside the binary to edit....

ALCInject--for experimental purposes using the layout from a 1986a....Didn't see anything to hack in here.....Want to get the Controller to load and then will move on to this....

Now, this is what I am getting:

Notice that HDAConfigDefault is stil lthe 1986 and not the 1984 that I entered. Can't figure this one out and any guidance would be appreciated! Thanks a mil - jl

Just wanted to give a big thanks to Taruga for coming up with AppleHDAPatcher. I've been struggling to get sound going on my SZ230P Sony Vaio and how it works! :D

Now just need WiFi ;)

Uphuck 10.4.9 r2

Enclosed is my codec dump if anyone needs it. I tried a lot of dumps I found on the forum but none worked so I decided I needed one from my machine. Don't assume just because a dump is for you're sound card or chipset that it will work for you.

I used Ubuntu live CD to obtain the codec dump for the Sony. Just d/l Ubuntu, burn it, boot it. Open a terminal and type:

cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0

I copied the output to a text file and gave it a name, then copied it over to a USB drive. I booted back to Tiger, mounted the USB drive and then dragged the dump file over the AppleHDAPatcher icon on my desktop, input my password and it did the rest.

Thanks again Taruga!

Hobs

My Dell DXP061 has an integrated sound card, it says STAC9227 on the chip. So I tried to use the AppleHDA Patcher version 1.7 with the linux codec dump I got from Knoppix. But it does not work. The patcher seems working fine and updated ALCinject and AppleHDA, once I rebooted the machine, it still says no sound card.

Taruga, can you help on this. The attached is the linux codec dump. Comparing it with the one from the post #1, only significant difference I can see is the subsystemId.

Any help will be appreciated.

download stac9227_83847618.zip from taruga. replace your kexts and maybe you'll need to change microphone Boost to 3 in AppleHDA.kext's Info.plist to get mic working. Also delete AppleAzalia.kext if you have one

I have an Inspiron 1420 with sigmatel 9228 and i dumped my codec from a gutsy install thats audio was working and when i use this patcher it only will play audio if i plug headphones into the first port. It has 2 speakers, 2 headphone outputs, one internal mic input and one mic input i attached the codec dump.

It's a know problem in Linux too, but newer distros and patches in ALSA driver get proper routing, even on the Vista "default" driver.

I find this today, maybe it could give us some clue:

http://osdir.com/ml/linux.ubuntu.devel.ker...6/msg00017.html

Maybe more patching to the AppleHDA.

searching with "macbook" and "stac922x" give a lot of stuff...

I got SigmaTel CXD 9872 Sony Vaio FE21M sound working.

I copied the file AppleHDA.kext from an JAS 10.4.8 install into a Leopard ToH install.

Then ran AppleHDAPatcher_v1.5 With a "codec#0" I got from a Ubuntu LiveCD boot up.

The speakers and the internal mic both work.

In System Profiler it shows

Intel High Definition Audio:

Hi,

Someone managed to get an AD (Soundmax) 888-A as in P5B Standard fully working ? (more than 2-chan)

thx

I agree. I found several question on P5B's AD 1988A card, but no replies. The only dump I found did not help (I'm using Tiger 10.4.9 uphuck's edition 1.3i) so I had to reinstall AzaliaAudio kext in order to get at least stereo out back working. Surfing forum 24/7 during last two weeks didn't ring any result better than that "only green out working". And I really really really need mike. Well, I can use USB mike but I hadn't found one yet. So working "pink" woud be greatly appreciated!

hi sundevils, how can i extract linux codec dump?

thx

What you need is a Knoppix live CD (www.knoppix.org), just boot it from your CD ROM drive and then do:

cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 > [codec dump filename].txt

The number maybe different depends on your machine.

Hope this helps.

Man, it works. I did try stac9227_83847618.zip last week, somehow it did not work. This time when I did it again, it worked. Thank you so much.

So the pather 1.7 does not work for me.

Woah! suddenly disappear the downloable files.

but Before that happen im download the appleHDA and works with my PC running 10.5 Leopard and now i have Out and Line In, and mic, that's pretty cool. :D

Im Install in my D915GAG with ALC860

Im only replace the Kexts and set the permissions and now work very good.

WHAT HAPPEN WITH THE FILES.....the first post is empty....____?????????
No it is not. I think there's a period on top... Like a "final period"... The end.Maybe Taruga is taking a break or he could be very fed up with all the PMs and calls for help.Future only knowsNo it is not empty.I think there's a period on top... Like a "final period"... Ok. I respect the work that Taruga has been doing for a year, but the files in the first post are/were helping many people (including myself), so he can make an statement that he cannot longer support the development but leave the file for other to use it. I did a search in google for alternate sources of this patcher return empty, all links point to this forum.

I have now a P5LD2-SE mobo, and want to try the v. 1.13 that the version that works with AD1986A codec, but now is almost impossible to do this.....IF somebody has this file, Please PM with it....Thanks.
