pet1
Upon testing the latest semthex beta build and mikfi's. Don't know what the changes are but I don't see any differences what so ever. My cpu comes up as an intel core duo with the latest semthex beta. I actually have a pentium 4 630. Xbench results are just about the same each time. Tested mifki's latest, and the third party one he put on here a few min ago. I don't see or feel any difference. I don't know what the differences are between the mikfi and semthex. But from what I've read so far, mikfi's is less modified and is designed to work with "apple" hardware. Semthex's is for more hardware that isn't compatable out of the box. So what's better logically? If you have harware geared towards apple then that's best, if not you don't have a choice really; semthex. Using the 3rd party mifki at the moment. Your right ,they all run the same.to me its about what one supports the most hardware and is best for the community. Sabr
Well, I'm running Mifki, and mostly all of my hardware needed modified kexts to work properly. After properly editing all the plist's, everything works great. So, Mifki or Semthex? No idea, I just go with what works Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32392-differences-between-mikfi-and-semthex-latest/#findComment-227336 Share on other sites
Guest BuildSmart
Really JaS? I see too many issues with the semthexi kernel and while the mifki kernel has it's own set of problems I've found it to be more stable in use and unfortunately doesn't support as much hardware. It shouldn't be too difficult to change this and get something that works better. Of course the best concept would be to combine the two but I doubt this will happen and I would blame mifki for it if it doesn't. ZOleg
DaemonES latest kernel is best - it based on mifki latest sources + right FSB autodetection + noNX + HPET emulation or native use if supported, etc. I use this kernel and dont have any problem. aberracus
Yes i go with DaemonES kernel, its based on Mifki one and its the onw less modified, i also find it much more stable than semthex, at least one core duo 2 im gona try it in my bro 805D this week Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32392-differences-between-mikfi-and-semthex-latest/#findComment-228091 Share on other sites

Would be nice sicne noone complained about stability of my kernel, it's of curse far more stable than apples original since I fixed some bug sI don't get how they came to the code lol. Hmm you should try out latest build, fixes even the "core" bug. asapreta
A bit of topic question. Any of the kernels yet need to be compiled before use? Well even though I did have a test version of mifki's kernel compiled with my no nx patch , DaemonES has made some changes I am interested to try out.He has requested my no nx patch and is going to compile a version for us poor no nx users. So I can try the latest build and I will have a more accurate testing bed for comparing the two. I am looking forward to testing it and he says sometime tomorrow.Cant wait Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32392-differences-between-mikfi-and-semthex-latest/#findComment-228107 Share on other sites
aberracus
What i s"the core" bug? please Semthex point it to me so i can test it, and i would love to update my guide in the tutorial section including Nebu for the AMD users, but really i cant do that because nebu cant be downloaded from anywhere.. By more stable means the system doesnt hangs never, under your kernel (v1.2 i think) my ihack hanged after editing for 2 hours in FCP (two time sin a row), never happened before, never happened with mifki kernel (DaemonES really) after i changed it back. Jas.. you are nearly a Macbook pro owner.. way to go man congratz! Hikari
Semthex is better because it works on my computer without any problem. =p I can't get mikfi working since it's like not compatible. ;-; (my processor doesn't have nx and hpet) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32392-differences-between-mikfi-and-semthex-latest/#findComment-228227 Share on other sites
