So, seeing as everything is working now, I figured I'd make my own thread about my experiences specific to the asus Z170-deluxe. This post will be updated as more information is available.

There are a few things that you must have before starting

- 0504 bios, needed for IOAPIC 24-119 entries

- dedicated gpu (I haven't tested IGPU yet)

- USB hub or usb3 header expansion thing Only 2 ports on the rear IO are intel, the rest are ASMEDIA 3.1

- patience

Flashing back to 0504

If you are on a newer bios (even the newest one) you will need to flash to 0504. To do this, I recommend using USB bios flashback. This is the safest method for asus boards, and also lets you flash older versions. Stick the 0504 bios on a FAT32 USB, and name the file Z170D.CAP. Then, while making sure its inserted into the single usb 2.0 port on the rear IO panel, and the system powered off, press the USB bios flashback button (see manual if you're unsure where this is.) A green light will start flashing, this will take 3-4 minutes. Then it will stop and the system will boot and finish the flash process.

Bios settings

- Disable IOAPIC 24-119 entries

- Disable CSM (for amd gpus)

- Set secureboot to otheros

Clover settings

- See attached clover config.plist

DSDT changes (dsdt is in attached archive)

- 1 change was made to the DSDT as recommended by piker here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/308707-fresh-install-from-usb-installer-el-capitan-10111-beta-build-15b38b-on-skylake-i7-6700-gigabyte-z170-hd3/?p=2183673

(THIS MAY NOT BE REQUIRED)

Post install

There are 2 main things that dont work OOB, the two classics: audio and LAN.

LAN: I was able to get 1 of the ports working using AppleIGB.kext

AUDIO: It's possible to get this working via AppleHDA injection (ALC1150) but I took the lazy way out and just installed VoodooHDA 2.8.8.

What is working

- intel USB3 ports / intel sata

- asmedia sata

- built-in wifi + bluetooth

- audio* see above

- LAN* see above

- dedicated GPU

- correct ram values (others have had issues with this?)

What is not working

- ASMEDIA usb3.1 ports

- Secondary LAN

- HWSensors (This still needs more testing)

Untested

- Intel IGPU

- M.2

- thunderbolt 3

Luke, it look that you don't use FBName for your AMD Graphics Card yet right?? and For HW Sensor it's running well here

I can confirm that nearly everything is working perfectly. Audio by cloverALC works with option 2 (which is the ALC with 5.1 surround, ALC1150 is not supported for option 3 i.e. HDMI audio + ALC).

Initially had trouble with NVidia card during booting but it seems that using Mac Pro 5,1 profile solved it.

Followed this guide to solve imessage problem.

Only USB, bluetooth, and the second ethernet port left that needs work.

Hello,

I have already OSX 10.8 successful running on a 7 year old Asus P6TD-Deluxe motherboard. Now it's time to move to a new system.

At the end of next week I am getting my new Asus Z170-Deluxe motherboard with an I7-6700k, 32GB Ram and a Samsung M2 SSD MZ-V5P512BW.  I have already created a El Caption USB installation media. (original Apple unaltered).

What do I additional need to install OSX on this system? On my old system I had triple boot (Win7, OSX, Debian) configuration. Is this possible on the new system (Win10, OSX10.11, Debian 8.3)?

I would be happy about some hints about the installation so I could do some preparations in the meantime until the new components arrive.

Thank you in advance.

Hi there,

I already have my system up and running 10.11.4:
Asus Z170 Deluxe
Intel i7 6700K
ASUS GeForce STRIX GTX 980

I guess, that I'd still need to modify the DSDT/SSDT files. But how?

Could someone help?

Also Bluetooth is not working for me.

Unfortunately I am having no sound, this bothers me the most.
Do I have to run run the script "audio_cloverALC-110.command"?
Or should it also work without it?

Thank you so much in advance.

All you need is make a USB installer USB image with 10.11.4, read guide and use the EFI files from first message and set the BIOS settings  below:

VT-d setting= Disable

CFG-Lock= Disable

SecureBoot= Disable ( Other OS )

XHCI Handoff= Enable

Serial Port= Disable

I have 170-Deluxe and 6700K. Sound and Bluetooth work fine.

Sound was easy when I install VoodooHDA-2.8.8.

Bluetooth install was success when I install ->S>L>E> BrcmFirmwareRepo.kext and BrcmPatchRAM2.kext

I have problem use KextBeats.app, so I need fix permission manually.

Sorry bad english.

Hej nomadturk,

thank you for your links.

Unfortunately the bluetooth link is messed up, but I have found the right one anyway.

I will keep you updated.

So here are my updates.

I have installed the "BrcmPatchRAM" and Bluetooth is now enabled. Unfortunately it's not finding any Devices. Did I miss something?

Audio is also working fine using a modified AppleHDA and realtekALC Kexts.

Would "audio_cloverALC-110.command" be the better option?

Unfortunately HDMI is still not showing up, but I haven't used "audio_cloverHDMI-110.command" either.

Do I need this or should it be working already?

Power Management is installed. How do I see, if it's working?

Furthermore I want to configure the correct ports for my motherboard (by creating a modified SSDT) to disable (uia_excude) the not used ones and stay under the 15 port limit.

Do I have to change ACPI in MaciASL (4.0, 5.0A, 5.1 or 6.1)?

Ok. Thank you. I will try it.

Will I need to use a special tool/app to create the USB Installer? (or only the installer?)

Should I create the needed partitions for multiboot first in the disk utility , then Install OSX first, then Windows 10 and then Linux? After that fix the OSX Bootmanager with modification/re-enabeling of Clover?

SecureBoot= Disable ( Other OS )

I can't disable Secure Boot. I only have the option (other OS).

Bios Version is1402.

When I choose to boot from the USB Boot Stick (or the USB UEFI Partition) the cursor is blinking but the system does not boot and then jumping back into the bios.

Is there something I can do?

Just delete all 4 keys under Key Management at the secure boot option and then you'll be able to disable secure boot.

osxaptiofix2

How do I know if I should choose osxaptiofix or osxaptiofix2 - what's the difference?

Now I have disabled secure boot successfully.

But I still can't boot the osx installer from my usb stick. still not working. A debian installer or windows installer is working on this stick. Strange.

I have created the usb stick with clover v2.3k special edition. I installed the el captain installation files, cloverefi64 sata, bootloader, Drivers64UEFI (aptiofix2).

Then I have copied/replaced the files on the usb with the z170 files from the first post.

Any ideas?

Thank you.
