Hello,

I have a PC (SuperMicro Xeon (2012 series) / Nvidia 400 series / 24gb RAM) running Windows 10 and VMWare Workstation 12. I have Yosemite running and updated to the latest with the VMWare Tools. I tried VMWare tools from several sources but I am not able to get more than 1024x768 for a resolution.

Any ideas?

@mindragon I met the same problem...hasn't found any solution yet.

  1. Go to VMware Workstation preferences and open Display section.
  2. Make sure no check boxes are selected in Autofit group.
  3. In Full screen group choose Center guest radio button.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Power on OS X VM.
  6. Play with screen resolution settings in OS X.

I'm having trouble installing OS X Yosemite on a Windows computer using VMware Workstation 12 (I can downgrade if it makes it any easier).

I have a .dmg file which I have converted to a .iso file. I have run the newest Unlocker 2 as admin, created a OS X 10.10 virtual machine and added smc.version = "0" to the VMX-file. The CD-ROM is pointed to the Yosemite .iso file.

But when I start the virtual machine it can't boot from my .iso. Nothing happens, no error message, I just get the VMware "BIOS" screen where I can choose between hard drive, CD-ROM etc. Any tips?

teoad,

You do not need to convert the .dmg to a .iso, if you have created the .dmg with the script in the second post of the thread, link below:

Could someone help me?? I cant find a way to patch the unlock 2.0.7 in VMWare WorkStation Player 12, when i click the windows installer with administrative rights the process is abruptely interrupted and nothing happens, very unlike the youtube videos, the option to install MAC OS X is not visible in VMWare Workstation Player 12.

I tried to install python 3.x.x but that didn t help too.

Can someone shed a light on this problem??

Open an  elevated command prompt and then run win-install.cmd. You will then see the output which may help with debugging the problem.

No output at all?

I managed to get a print screen and this what happens:

PypkTow.png

In the end it says IO Error #13: xcopy is not recognized as a input or output command, a operable program or batch files.

Anyway to resolve this problems?? I tried to uninstall VMWare Workstation Player 12 and install VMWare Player 7.1.2 and got tha same error.

Looks like the vmwarebase.dll is open so must be a process still using it. Is the host Portuguese Windows 10? I could get a copy and try it out.

Can you capture the start of the installation? Scroll up in the command window and look for the top lines from unlocker installer.

Here it is:

ElModXh.png

It says REG is not recognized as a input or output command, operable program or batch files and the unlocker does not seem recognize where vmware player is installed at.

Taking print screens of installation process is a pain because everything happens so fast like one second.

You don't need to take a screenshot you should be able to copy the text from the command window. Run the unlocker this way:

1. Right click on the Start Menu and select "Prompt de Comando (Admin)"

2. Change to the unlocker folder using ->  cd "unlocker folder"

3. Run win-install.cmd

4. Resize and scroll the command window to select all the text.

As for the problem I have no idea, do you have some sort of batch file blocker or AV running? Basically none of the bultin Windows commands are working which isn't the fault of the unlocker. I see you have Kaspersky and Malwarebytes installed.

I´ve already tried the steps that you mentioned but i cant resize the cmd window because it closes super fast.

I finally managed to get the Apple MAC OS X appear in the menu of vmware player.

I download the Process Explorer from www.sysinternals.com and killed process tree of vmware-authd.exe,this is where the vmwarebase.dll is still open and working, only doing this i was able to make mac os x appear in menu

Here is the proof:

I am having problems to get this to work on ESXi 6.  I installed unlocker using putty and I see it having created the unlocker folder as expected.  However, when I boot a working DMG image, it simply stops at various stages (depending on the OSX version).

What am I missing?

Thank you!

have you used a "patched" DMG? if you are using, os x mavericks or yosemite it needs to be a "patched" dmg file or it wont work.
El capitan dont work yet sadly enough so to get el capitan you need to upgrade either os x mavericks or yosemite

Thank you for getting back to me!

Well, I have tried an old Mountain Lion DMG, an extracted Maverick DMG and an extracted Yosemite DMG.  The old Mountain Lion DMG stops loading on the Apple Logo and the Maverick DMG doesn't load at all.  The Yosemite DMG starts loading, but eventually presents me a circle symbol with a line through which indicates that it has failed loading (happens at around 70% completion on the load indicator).

I have also looked at the link you provided.  Yes, I have used the described method to extract the Maverick and Yosemite DMG.  Is there any patching I need to do after extracting the DMGs?

In any case, I was expecting the Mountain Lion DMG to work since I have been using it on OSX 5.5 in the past.

As a last resort, I have also tried adding CPUID and changing the hardware version from 11 to 10 (shouldn't be required on ESXi, right?).  No luck!

Any other ideas?

i havent tried it on ESXi 6 or ESXi since i didnt need to since i use workstation 12 pro :/
If you dont get it to work let me know i will just test it on my esxi 6 test system.

You use either the CMI or CYI tool to make the dmg files becuase this is known to work as i understand you did this if not then do that. Nothing else is needed except using that.
When i make a new virtual machine i use Hardware compatibility 12 but i now 11 works on both mavericks, yosemite and el capitan havent tried the older versions since i dont need them.

The only things i change from standard settings are, 1 cpu and 2 cores, 4gb ram and i make the harddrive 1 large size i dont split it.

did you add smc.version = 0 into the .vmx file thats inside the folder that holds all the files for that VM machine?

I've successfully patched workstation 11.1.2 on linux 64 and my OSX VM works great. But if I make it a shared VM the vmware gui always crashes when I try to change that vm's settings. I get this:

Unexpected signal: 11.

VMware Workstation Error:
VMware Workstation unrecoverable error: (vmui)

It works for other OS types (e.g. MSDOS), but when I go into the settings for a shared VM it doesn't show OSX as an available option. I would guess the crash is because the VM is set to OSX, but that's not found in the list? I've also tried with workstation 12 and get the same result.

Hello, I'm new to hackintosh-ing,

I have tried using unlocker 2.0.3, 2.0.4, and 2.0.7 with no success to make VMWare show macs in the VM creation process.

Below is the log of unlocker 2.0.7, as you can see, when it patches vmwarebase.dll, nothing happened.

Oh, btw, I am using Win 10 Pro with Intel i5 2nd gen, and VMWare workstation 11.0.0 build-2305329, installed in E:\

Anyone have an idea of whats causing the problem? or can someone send me an already patched vmwarebase.dll?

Thanks

Edit:

on another note, I have tried disabling all VMWare services before patching with the same result.
