Easy Yosemite 10.10 Final USB Installer - *Updated 10.16.2014

This Chameleon Version tested and working:   Chameleon-2.2svn-r2391

I am posting this from Yosemite Public Beta on GA-EP43 with Q8400, ATI6450, chameleon r2391.

<snip>

Well, if true, you're one of the few that actually has Yosemite Beta booting from Chameleon.

The beta is very different from the DP releases.

Although the Chameleon appears to load all kexts at boot, my tests have shown that any modified kexts, particularly FakeSMC.kext, don't get included because of invalid/missing code signature. That didn't used to be a problem in S/L/E on Mavericks (only in L/E), but they've tightened it up in Yosemite.

Loading the kernel is not a problem for Chameleon. If mach_kernel is not present at root, it will look for "kernel" at S/L/K. So, deleting the Kernel key in the plist works okay.

But, just how are you booting the kexts?  :(

Are they installed in S/L/E?

I notice you don't have the "UseKernelCache" key, but the default is "No", anyway.

Are you using "npci=0x2000" for any particular reason?

Just really curious!

This is no more than what Apple does in their "CreateInstallMediaApp".  If installing to a Real Mac stop here, you're done.

Public Beta Update!

Unlike the early Yosemite DP builds, you can build a Public Beta installer with "createinstallmedia"  (Do not use attached script, it is intended for DP1)

sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite\ Beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Install --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite\ Beta.app --nointeraction

re:digital_dreamer

I have used a cloning method, from 10.5,10.6,10.8,10.9 and new   Yosemite Public Beta  (NOT  DP1,2,3,4)

Old cloning method was working from 10.5 to 10.9 with CCC, how ever CCC do not startup on Yosemite.

Now, the copy of a base Apple OS, is done by Windows 8.1 with VMware Work Station 10.

I have been able to install Yosemite Public Beta with a USB Stick chameleon 2391 on a legacy MB (EP43) only, no luck on UEFI MB.

But Clone Method does work on UEFI MB.

require HW:   PC with Win7 or WIn8,

a network connected Apple 10.8/10.9 PC (or USB Caddy for internal Hard Drive.

SW:`    Vmware Workstation 10 (trial version  is  free)

3 Steps:

A.

A.  Create A DMG image of a bootable OSX hard drive

B.  Restore the DMG to any Hard Drive to any target PC (UEFI or Legacy)

C.  Install loader:  Clover for UEFI and Chameleon for LegacyBios.

A:   Download Yosemite Public Beta ISO. (don't try to create it yourself from Installer.App, old method to create ISO will not work)

create a VM with WS10,  no loader required.

(DONOT install VMtools or SVGAII package)

use WS10 to Clone the Yosemite VM. (now you have two VMs)

goto first VM's setting add a second hard drive (use clone's HD as source)

boot into firstVM (you will have 2 HDs)

Disk Utility :  Create DMG from the second HD.

Option1:   copy the DMG over the network to your running Apple PC.

2: attach a USB caddy with the target Hard Drive.

    (USB caddy attach via WS10-Menu-Vm-Connect.)

B.   Use Disk Utility to restore:

C:   Loader of your choice:

When using Clover for UEFI,   (no MBR installation and Minimum Kext)

Example:  my ATC-605 with i7-4770 and ATI6450

FakeSMC (no plugins),  AMD5000 X3000 kext patched) that is all.

put FakeSMC to /EFI/CLOVER/Kexts/Others

copy FakeSMC, AMD5000,X3000  to target HD's  SLE

1st boot to Single User Mode an goto SLE

chmod -R 755 *

chown -R root:wheel *

sync

reboot

in my case, that is it:

Use Disk Utility to repair all permissions.

Ex:  GA-EP43 with Q8400 ATI6450

FakeSMC in /Extra/Extensions

But I have Cmos and shutdown problem with gigabyte MB,

I need EvoReboot, patched AppleRTC

I still use old KB, so VoodooPS2 controller

SLE:  FakeSMC, EvoReboot, AppleRTC, VoodooHDA, RTL8111,ps2 controller

other step is the same.

Note: the following flags are require: -f  , kext-dev-mode=1

-f force  no cache

dev-mode force  loading of unsigned Kexts

in Clover: under Boot add Arguments, kext-dev-mode=1

clover will patch RTC on the fly.

Public Beta Update!

What worked for me was this pattern.

The attached script ((yosemite_installer.command.zip)) is used for DP versions, NOT the Public Beta, read the post!

Use "createinstallmedia" in terminal for PB:

sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite\ Beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Install --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite\ Beta.app --nointeraction

It works fine.

Re: NSCXP2005

Install VM WS10

download unlocker & Install (use 10.9 as machine type)

in unlocker, darwin.iso  is the vmware tools (use this for Mavericks 10.9.4, you will enjoy using 10.9 as vm)

Do this for Mavericks:  download SVGA-II package for 10.9 (black screen if other version were used)

SVGA will get QE,  Vmware Tools allow for full screen.

DONOT install these for Yosemite (as a vm it is no good any way)

Steps

1 install WS10

2. unlocker

3. Start WS10-> New Machine -> type Apple OSX 10.9

  - before start machine: change settings ->  CD/DVD use iso and select YosemitePublicBeta

-  i m on i7-4770 with 8G:  my vm settings: 2G Mem, 1 cpu 2 cores. VTx enabled, HD size 40G,  others default

-  during installation, it wil reboot twice, on VM  you do'nt  need to select reboot location

Even on i7 4770, yosemite is slow, be patient.

Even it is virtual machine, it function as a real machine (slow)

Network is NATdefault  (use Windows Driver)

Sound is virtual but work with default windows sound port.

to Access Networked OSX machoe:  goto:  SMB://192.168.x.y  and browse

VM hard disk has extension  vmdk (use the first  file as source)

this is not the forum for WS10. (go there to get help).

One more thing:  vm disk is blank, so before start the installer, goto MENU -> Disk Utility -> Partition Disk Use GUID.

I have concluded that (CreateInstallMediaApp) running in legacy mode does not work in UEFI.

May I ask how you came to that conclusion? I mean here the output running CreateInstallMediaApp on a Mac Pro (late 2013) and a hack resulted in exactly the same data.

For me work both metod legacy and UEFI....

Ask How to solve it or not.

Right. Clearly a Clover issue.

thanks you Show a picture of what I can understand the media.

Update on Third Installation of Yosemite Public Beta.

Target Machine is:   Gateway ID49C04h (P6100 core duo) intel HDGraphic laptop

Succeed after four try.

1. Use chameleon 2391  (Big Big Failure)

install it on my 10.9.4,  on reboot freeze at the start,

no chance to goto single use mode to restore old loader.

end up, remove hd from laptop to restore old chameleon loader.

2. Use Clover 2774  with MBR option and default settings

copy all 10.9.4 working kexts to SLE

hang at messages:  Sandbox deny read/write

i think the default settings was the cause,

3, copy EFI folder from my working Acer ATC-605 on Yosemite

copy all 10.9.4 working kexts to SLE

same error,

I think may be may error, using chmod -R 755 * that cause it

3.  Install only FakeSMC and NullCpuPower and change Permission/Owner by each file.

Boot  successfully, on to the desktop.

copy the rest of the kexts to SLE and reboot

Again, Hang at sandbox error message.

4.  remove AppleIntelHD* from SLE

     boot to Desktop again.

That means,  Intel HD kext was the cause.

Reboot with default auto boot, hang.

Reboot with Verbose three times, All OK.

without graphic kext, i have 1024x768 and no ci/qe.

I will have to wait for someone patched Intel HDGrahic kext for 10.10 before test it again.

     Summary of my Steps

1. Restore DMG of base OSX 10.10 to a hard drive on USB caddy (45 minutes on VM, 7 minutes on real pc)

2.  install Clover on USB HD

3.  repair file system of usb HD (say no error, but you need this to be able to delete AppleIntelHD* from SLE)

4.  add argument to conf.plist

copy  FakeSMC and VoodooP2s to Clover EFI Kexts Others folder (single user)

copy  FakeSMC, NullCpuPower,VoodooPs2 and AtherosL1 to SLE

5.  Attach the USB Caddy with HD to the Laptop, boot with f12 and select USB HD.

goto single User Mode,  chmod chown for each kext.

reboot with Verbose,  auto mode will hang at white screen.

For those have a working kexts for graphic chip, you may be ok.

Concluded again

I first installed yose legacy mode works fine.

Then try the installation again at 2, but it is strange that it boot via UEFI mode to install it by running well.

And try to install again 3. It was working well with the mode UEFI.

They friends think?

Does this mean I have to install Mavericks on a VM first and then upgrade to Yosemite Beta 1?

After that do I make a clone of the VM and then use Disk Utility to restore it to a USB Drive?

Is the GTX580 supported in OS X?  If so, install using this guide to create your installer and have clover inject GE if needed.

None of this is necessary anymore:

fsck -fy

mount -uw /

chmod -R 775 /kexts/FakeSMC.kext

chown -R root:wheel /kexts/FakeSMC.kext

cp -R /kexts/FakeSMC.kext /System/Library/Extensions/

kextload -v /System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext

exit

Refer to Clover forum for help if required.

I'd be surprised if the GTX580 isn't supported, considering that the GTX550Ti is.  However, if you are using Clover, you will need, at minimum, the Inject nVidia switch in Graphics Injection options; you may also want the Load VBIOS option as well if you have the latest FakeSMC (there are both GeForce Sensor AND acceleration options in the latest FakeSMC as part of the GPU sensor rewrite; this also works in Mavericks).

Re:NSCXP2005

if you don't want to use WS10 for good, install yosemite once and let WS10 make a clone, save some time (not much)

in my case, I like to use Mavericks 10.9.4 as a VM, I use it to write XCODE programs.

so my case is,  WS10, unlocked, Mavericks 10.9.4, mount darwin.iso to install VMware tools,

from VM download SVGA II 10.9 and install. (get QE and FullScreen)

Then, install Yosemite PB1 without tools or VGA (is for clones),

Add Yosemite's VMDK (virtual disk) to my Mavericks VM.

Make a DMG from it, copy the DMG to my real PC running 10.9.4 (SMB enabled) over the network.

rest of it done with a real pc.

RE:Opa114

GOTO WS10 forum to learn how to install WS10 on Win7 or Win8 or Win8.1

Install WS10, Unlocker, tools, SVGAII

Use it as a real MAC,

follow the instructions from this forum.

To attach a USB stick to the VM,

Insert USB to the WIN-PC, message tells you, it is  not automatically attached.

GOTO  WS10 Menu -> VM -> Connect Removable -> your USB will be displayed on the list.

Select it, take half a minute to show on VM.

Use It as if you are on a mac.

Update on Testing Yosemite PB1 on GA-EP43 with Q8400 ATI6450

After failure Chameleon installation on a Gateway Laptop, and partially succeed with Clover,

I decide to test Clover with EP43.

- Clover version 2774 (MBR settings)

- no need for Patched AppleRTC, rest kexts were the same.

- Every thing works.

- 10.9.4 include USB3 generic Kext

- 10.10 USB3 loaded, not functioning, Wifi Disconnect at random, Transmission caused kp.

(do not remember what version of Atheros Chips, loaded by native kext)

- good news, since 10.5, I have tried every kind DSDT patch, sleep enabler etc etc, no luck with sleep.

Clover 2774, able to sleep and wake (100% working)

- use eth0 and disable Wifi,   no internet disconnect or kp.
