Something is wrong. afuwinx64 freezes my computer. I follow the instructions but afuwin just crashes my tower.

Whats the newest afuwin? I google, but nothing shows up.

EIDT: Downloaded newest AMIflash zip file.

Lots of folders and other zip files in there. I'll do some reading and hopefully I'll be able to patch this board. :)

Thanks for this super cool utility CodeRush!

I'm trying to patch my Haswell MSI H81M-E33.

This is the output:

PMPatch 0.5.14PowerManagement modules not found.
PowerMgmtDxe/PowerManagement2.efi module at 002C4518 patched.
AMI nest modules not found.
Phoenix nest modules not found.
CpuPei module at 007AF9C0 not patched: Patch pattern not found.
Output file generated.

Am I ready to go?

Thanks!

I used the utility on one of my other hackintoshes.  It took a few tries to get the correct process.  I recommend looking on youtube if you are having problems.

I can boot the uni thumbdrive to instal 10.8 but can't get past the black screen.  I tried two different video cards that work in other hacks.  I'm totally guessing at the bios settings so I have a bunch of things to try along with boot flags.

your mobo boots to mac without a 3rd party gpu?  I got mine to boot, but for some reason I plug in my 550Ti and I can't get to BIOS at all.

I tried a GUI version of the bios updater. If you search for the American Megatrends BIOS flash utility, theres a few in the rar file. Most of them didn't work for me or would freeze my computer outright.

Then I tried the GUI one wich had a bunch of features that I did not quite understand. SO..it's possible that my mobo was not patched.

But. I can install 10.9. But ##### takes a dump when I install a bootloader.

Major PITA!!

@CodeRush

I found two ways written by you to flash my friend's ASUS X202E laptop (with AMI Aptio Bios):

Which way do you think is safer? Or is there other way you recommend?

We have several subforums dedicated to getting your goddamn install working.

Please understand that this particular topic is about PMPatch. As a moderator it's part of my job description to make sure that it stays that way.

Too much off topic discussion in development topics tend to chase important developers away.

shiecldk, none of them. They were OK at their time, but now AMI enabled BIOS region lock and Intel FPT becomes useless.

Use "afu /gan" method described in the FAQ.

starfish_crackwhore, I can understand your feelings, but Gringo Vermelho is right - your problems in flashing modified BIOS aren't any PMPatch related, nor I can solve it in any way.

Buy yourself a cheap SPI programmer and forget about that kind of problems.

As I have said several times before, off topic posts, like the one that I've just deleted, will be deleted without warning.

This topic is not for discussion of issues that aren't related to PMPatch.

It's okay to discuss:

- Other means of modifying your BIOS in order to unlock the MSR 0xE2 register in cases where pmpatch doesn't work.

- BIOS flashing or programming, as long as it pertains to unlocking the MSR 0xE2 register.

And, for the love of god please read the first post before posting.

:)  :)

Thank you. It's my first flash and i'm french...difficult.

So with the method afu i see that :

  1. backup: afuwinx64 bios.bin /o
  2. patch: pmpatch bios.bin bios-pmpatched.bin
  3. apply: afuwinx64 bios-pmpatched.bin /gan

i boot on dos with the stick and type afudos bios.bin /o

System halted and tell me error, bios does not support AFU....

PowerMgmtDxe/PowerManagement2.efi module not found.

AMI nest Module not found.

Phoenix Nest Module not found.

CpuPei Module at 00790A88 not patched: Patch pattern not found.

CpuPei Module at 00790A88 not patched: Patch pattern not found.

Output file generated.

So, it's wrong or good ?

Oopsss....heu....i read that if it's Output file generated it's good.....so, it's good, sorry i try.

Anyway, thanks a lot for all. I come back here to report for the Z77 if it works or not.

Hi, i am using an asus z87-pro motherboard. Everytime i try to use the patcher with the newest bios .CAP file from there website, the green light stays solid lit, indicating that it does not work. The file is on the root of the usb drive, and it is formated in the FAT 32 format. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
