Any better success for you?

@ frantisheq, SticMAN: any idea?

no change here

PS: i just tried to update my original vista from dell with SP1 but after one hour all i got was Service pack did not install. Reverting changes and after reboot Windows not genuine message in lower right corner :D no such problems with OS X 10.5.3 update :)

Hey everyone...Thanks for all of the info in this forum. It's been pretty fun reading through 34 pages of stuff, but it's helped a lot. I have Kalyway's 10.5.2 disk running on my 410. I tried the 10.5.3 update last night, but I lost all of my SATA drives that I could see in 10.5.2, so I erased and reinstalled.

Only problems I've encounters (other than the Intel NIC):

--My EasyBCD bootloader works fine, but if I restart the 410, I get the "chain loading error". If I shut down, then power back up, I can boot without issue.

--I am REALLY confused on how to install drivers or "kexts". I was able to get a Belkin USB to Ethernet adapter running, but I am totally lost when trying to install my SigmaTel onboard sound or stuff for my nVidia 7300LE. I could really use a n00b guide :(

My daughter thinks it's great that I have a "Mac" in the house, since that's all she uses in school. My brother, the professional graphic artist, is angry that I have a better "Mac" than his G4, and my OS X is a newer version as well.

Anyway, thanks for letting me ramble. If I can get some tutoring on how to deal with the "kexts", I'd really appreciate it.

can't help you with EasyBCD but installing kexts is pretty easy once you get used to it :)

get the kexts open Terminal and

sudo -s

copy kexts to /System/Library/Extensions

chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/*

chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/*

reboot and hold F8

enter -f -v at the boot prompt to rebuild kext cache and if your kexts are ok everything should work

For The Kext the Easiest way to do it is to use "kext helper" google it for a download link. all you do is drag your kext into kext helper and type your root password and press enter and its done.

Again, thanks for all the help. I've been able to get the video running properly and the onboard sound seems to be working fine. I don't get a startup sound that I can hear, but the other ones are fine. Probably go looking for Kext Helper Tuesday. If the Red Wings would just score a goal, my day would be perfect. :)

Hi,

Way to solve shutdwon bug: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=76404

Sorry brandon i don't know

An update on the internet situation: Added 0x 07B2 5101 to the dev/prod id lists in plist of AppleUSBCDC.kext. Problem is, the data management driver, AppleUSBCDCACMData.kext...

it has drivers/devices i never heard of. like 0x 8888 2822 and 0x 8888 2B22 and 4902. Apparently, 8888 is motorola, dunno about the prod id's.

All i have to do is enter a frickin matching product id, and i can't do it

=(

I have a 5101 not a 5100, which would work >:)

ok frantisheq, here's what happened: one day i just started up os x and internet stopped working. I think it was because I updated to 10.5.2.

So now since I need internet working again, and since you have 10.5.3, would you please look in your extensions folder:

/system/library/extensions/iousbfamily.kext/contents/plugins/appleusbcdc.kext/contents/info.plist

and see if the motorola 5101 modems there:

<key>Motorola 5101 #0</key>

Yip! remember to backup your AppleSMBIOS, AppleHDA, AppleACPIPlatform, AppleAHCIPort, Audio and Video kexts!

You can also do the 10.5.4 beta without a problem!

I think doing it with Kalyway's update it the safest!

SticMAN

ps Still no fix for the NIC as you can see from the above post!

@ BigROB, your mom says "Hi!" :)

Has anyone successfully installed the 10.5.3 update?

Hey Guys I made a developers preview for 10.6 "Snow Leopard" for osx86. I am starting to upload it to the green demon. you will need to use the hda patcher again as well as your video drivers. Just Search Snow leopard by Rob G. I will start seeding it tonight so june 22 would be your best bet. Please Seed. if you need an invite to demonoid PM me i am willing to trade for Blackcat games or Broken Stones

Hi guys, i've got a problem and could really use some help.

I've just downloaded kalyway 10.5.2 and it installs fine. But when I try the kalyway 10.5.3 update and follow the instruction from:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=108216

I can't get past sudo -s

Every time I type this command i get 'try again' when I try to type in my password. I have tried reinstalling 2-3 times and still the same problem. - it just won't take my password.

- also, if I try to access system preferences after trying this, the computer freezes.

If I ignore this and reboot with 'update -v' I get 'waiting for root device'.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

- BTW I have a Dell Dimension 9200, 4GB RAM, Q6600 (QUAD CORE).

- I also have leo4all v3 which I have patched from 10.5.2 to 10.5.3, but I can't even get into the installer with this disk - just get stuck on 'waiting for for device' error..

Do You have a password? or did you just leave it blank. I know you get that error when no password is selected for that account. And to fix the waiting for root devices, do you had raid set to auto?

Hello,

I have an XPS 410 - Kalyway 10.5.2. I have tried ABSOLUTELY everything on these forums that I can find about getting audio to work on this. The AppleHDA Audio Patcher doesn't do a thing. I still have no sound icon and it says 'No Output devices found" in the audio control panel.

Anyone else have this problem at all and able to give some suggestions?

It's the only thing keeping me from using OSX full time on this machine.

Thanks
