I managed to get my hackintosh running Server 10.4.7 with everything working. Including the server admin app, mysql, and everything else that it comes with. It sure is beautiful.

Here is what I did:

Install Jas 10.4.6

Updated using Jas 10.4.7 update Intel

Install MacOSXServerInstall.pkg under other installs on the server dvd u can find at the demons.

Booted up asked for a serial (use serial box) and voila a fully working server

Ive used Ubuntu server, fedora, and windows, but Mac server beats them all hand down.

Here are some pics. Some are distorted due to my x300 artifacts. And i cant include the server admin menu since it has my full name...Apple Legal Department.

thanks, i gotta admit this is the easiest and nicest server ive worked with. U get mail, webmail, ftp, dns, nfs, ssl, apache, quicktime broadcaster, and all sorts of stuff out of box. Even Itunes 7 works natively without problems like some others.

I have to admit tho this was really easy to install.

oh just to add. U need to convert the dmg of server 10.4.7 to read write and remove the VolumeCheck

Very crucial point.. I went the pacifist route around this & nothing will run. maybe more detail on how you did the r/w conversion & where the volume check is might be helpful.

ok, you right click the 10.4.7 server disk image and go to open--- open with---- disk utility. U shud see the server 10.4.7 disk image then on the left. Click it once and click convert at the top of the screen. Then change under image format to read write. To remove the VolumeCheck after it is converted to r/w, Mount the converted dmg, go to other installs, right click the MacOSXServerInstall.pkg, click Show Package Contents, double click contents and u need to just drag VolumeCheck to the trash. Yes, and dont extract it with Pacifist, U dont install the packages seperately like that because the MacOSXServerInstall.pkg installs the other packages needed.

servers are the computers that process and "host" varying protocols like http, ftp, mail, and others. On os x server, if u have a domain u can host mail, websites, ftp and other services. This website is run on a server which hosts the website files and outputs them into what u see on your screen now.

Server 10.4.7 UB ,That's very nice

BUT :Does it include/run FrontRow too ?

My intension: build a multimedia/server/router/firewall etc box

-Webserver

-Mailserver

-Fileserver

-Router - firewall

-Torrent downloader

-Newsgroups (by means of something like sabnzbd)

-Media Server

- PVR

-DVD/ Divx etc Playback

1 brick for all :D

I got a 10.4.6 installation can this be installed on this.?

I have had a few probs in the past installing 10.4.7 updates...

I should do a Complete backup of the OS X partition onto spare 120Gb in windows then if it goes belly up least i can revert.
