melissagirl
I just installed. The only things I needed to fix were Graphics (I have an Intel 945), which I did from another MacOS install on a second hard drive, and I needed to fix USB by installing the Modded IOUSBFamily.kext file (you can find it on projectosx.com by googling it). Hello all, I am new to this world and I am going to need your help here. I just installed 10.6.5 and see below, kernel panic. Please help... Since you said you were new, I decided to describe the process. To remove SleepEnabler.kext, first boot into single user mode by typing -s at the boot menu (if you have chameleon, it appears in the lower left corner of the screen). Then when it gets to a prompt, type: mount -uw / That allows you to make modifications to the file system. Look for SleepEnabler.kext either in /System/Library/Extensions or /Extra/Extensions and delete or rename it. When you're done, to reboot, type: shutdown -r now

I plugged my drive on another PC and removed the Kext Manually. Now I don't get the kernel panic, but SL does not boot up. I am getting the "forbidden" sign in the middle of the screen Any thoughts? a2thedeep
Get this version (from here or the link floordance posted), it works on all 10.6.x systems, but needs a kernel boot flag to be specified - that's the pmVersion. When updating you can disable the extension to avoid KP by setting pmVersion=0 at boot time, after that edit your com.apple.Boot.plist and add pmVersion=21 (for 10.6.5, etc.) under "Kernel Flags". An explaination of this flag can be found in the comments in the link above. Thanks that explains alot... but i still dont understand where to put the pm= flag my bootplist below.. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Theme</key> <string>DType</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>5</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>arch=x86_64</string> <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1920x1080x32</string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>n</string> <key>device-properties</key> <string>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</string> </dict> </plist>

digital_dreamer
Thanks that explains alot... but i still dont understand where to put the pm= flag my bootplist below.. Add it to the Kernel Flags, like so: <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>arch=x86_64 pmVersion=21</string> On the other hand, I haven't got any confirmation that the "21" actually works for 10.6.5. It seems logical, but not confirmed. Can we get a confirmation? MAJ

digital_dreamer
Don't use it, I removed because my OSX now says 10.6.4 and updater is not working anymore. Seriously? Everyone, including me, is downloading it. On the other hand, it's 695MB and the 10.6.4 combo was 930MB, so it is of questionable size. Kinito_2k3
If you boot up with the -v option, what error messages does it give you? Well, shame on me but the keyboard does not respond so I don't know how to do this. When the Chameleon screen comes up, I have the "press any key to enter boot setup" but my keyboard does not work at that point. here is my config: Intel DP43BF Intel E6500 ( SOCKET LGA 775 ) geforce 8400 GS 512 MO RAM
