blkhockeypro19
Thanks to the hard work of comex, a new jailbreak is available for iDevices running 3.2.1, 4.0, and 4.0.1. This jailbreak requires you to visit http://jailbreakme.modmyi.com/faq.html. Visiting that page will initialize the jailbreak process, and soon enough you will be downloading all your favorite 3rd party apps and themes from cydia! If you're ready to enter the jailbreak scene on your 3.2.1+ iDevice, head on over to the website.
TH3L4UGH1NGM4N
I can attest to this but it seems some people are "bricking" their phones somehow and on engadget Josh had safari keep crashing on him but on my 4 it's a good to go JB with mms and FT working still and Cyd isn't buggy at all will post screenshots soon iPhone isn't complete without a good JB =D

There was a person on irc today trying to make a mirror of it to the modmyi.com and was kicked out of the room. It would be best to use that one at the moment until they release a official mirror list. Between the two sites, the MD5's do no match up.

pplug
This website did nothing to my iphone. I went to both the original site and the one posted on the front page and it did nothing. Am I missing something? 3gs 32gb with 4.0.
SticMAC™
Just done my iPad 64GB 3G!! Decided only to use the multitasking to be able to use skype in the background as I got myself a number so I can now use it as a phone, listen to internet radio stations, read a book and surf the web! SticMAC edit: After many tries, 2 hours, it finally allowed me into the jailbreakme sequence, I think the best is to: save the webpage as a bookmark, shut down, restart, then IMMEDIATELY go to the site, try and try again!! projekt k
will this erase everything I already have on my phone? like the music, apps, contacts, etc?
TH3L4UGH1NGM4N
@ projekt k No it won't all it does it write cydia to your iDevice but it is always advised to make a backup prior to diving in a JB like usual
TH3L4UGH1NGM4N
It should normally be in the usage settings but I've heard that some people had to use SBsettings in order to get he battery meter working well at least apple finally admitted to knowing that iOS 4 slows down the 3g but hey sounds like you can live with that
projekt k
cool so will the apps from the app store still work? like can I still use the apps I already have? or am i out of the app store exchange? also if anyone can drop a link on what they consider the best guide to put apps you recieved somehow on your computer on a JB iphone with this set up... TH3L4UGH1NGM4N
no no don't lose anything at all except for about the 3 minutes that it takes to isntall cydia to the phone and to install the apps you just drag and drop it to itunes and then synch it to your iPhone but you first have to install AppSynch OS 4.0 from Cydia so that you're able to run the app. You need to add the hackulo repo first Just google "synching jailbroken apps" if what I'm saying sounds like something from fantasyland
121fred
Brilliantly easy jailbreak. If you havn't done a jailbreak before time to give it a try, you won't regret it. Thanks to comex
eject
does this really work on all iDevices, even those nasty newer 3GS modells where there only was a thethered jailbrake possible on 3.1.2 because i happen to have one of this pieces of {censored}

coelomate1
I tried it twice on two different iphone 3g Each time it worked, cydia installed, but very soon after everything went haywire and I had to restore the phone. Cycorder never worked on either phone. Not a good experience, but I backed up my phone first. No loss. I just don't see the need for a jailbroken phone unless you cannot use ATT and need a different carrier. TH3L4UGH1NGM4N
@ coelomate1 Did you try this on iOS 4? The 3G has known problems running on iOS
eject
I just don't see the need for a jailbroken phone unless you cannot use ATT and need a different carrier. no calendar on lock screen? no possibility to use wifi only applications over 3G/UMTS. no bluetooth tethering and no pirated software. iphone without jailbrake is useless
TH3L4UGH1NGM4N
he has the wrong idea first off @ coelomate1 Jailbreaking and unlocking are two completely different things Jailbreaking first allows you to have root access to your phone and to customize your phone while using apps from cydia and other repos Unlocking is done after you've jailbroken the phone to carrier release your iPhone so that you're no longer locked to the carrier you initially bought the phone for at it's subsided price
tdtran1025
The new iOS 4.0.2 that was recently introduced plugs up the whole. No more web-base jailbreak, .
