ricren
Hi, Sorry if this is a too basic question, but I serched I have a Pentium 4 3.2 that support hyperthreading. It is running in an Intel Pearl motherboard. So, Is enabling hypertreading a good thing for OSX?Any speed gains? Do I compromise stability enabling this function? Yes enable it, you should see significant bennefits. The developer transition kits had a P4 with hyperthreading, OS X will take advantage of it. I can't think of any posts from people who had any problems with hyperthreading, at least I don't remember any. good luck, Todd Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19636-hypertreading-enabled-yes-or-no/#findComment-131432 Share on other sites

miguelcerca
you can also install chud from the 10.4.3 install dvd. this will give you a processor pallate in system preferences, you can monitor your cpu as well as turn hyperthreading on and off. an easy way to benchmark. later Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19636-hypertreading-enabled-yes-or-no/#findComment-146648 Share on other sites
alexbaldwin
I had problems with HT in 10.4.3 but with my ASROCK board there was another couple of Bios options that had to be changed to get optimal performance Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19636-hypertreading-enabled-yes-or-no/#findComment-147643 Share on other sites

love.elegance
i have an intel p4 2.4 processor with ht (SSE2) on a d865gbf motherboard and ht hasn't bothered me at all. i'm just wondering if adding "ACPI" or "X86PC" to the boot.plist will make any difference. if so, which one is more suitable for my system? i've tried platform=acpi/platform=x86pc on darwin and they both work. everything is working well: mn-730 wireless, usb bluetooth, on-board audio, & full-speed usb (no hi-speed ).
