ZackD
Hi, can someone tell me, whether DualCore i3/i5 Processors are supported in Kakewalk? I know they are not supported with Vanilla Kernel so I need something like the Qoopz Kernel. Is something like that integrated in Kakewalk or is Kakewalk useless for DualCore i3/i5 Processors? Dregath
Hi, I am trying to install snow leopard on my x58a-ud7 but every time I try to do this I get a error message telling me that the installer has stopped and I need to restart my computer. This happens after I've used the Kakewalk CD and I am loading the OSX installer. I have setup my motherboard according to the guide, though I did have a RAID0 array setup which I had to disable, though I'm in the process of removing that now. I am using the legacy CD image since I don't have access to a Mac to create one specifically for my motherboard. If someone could create the image for me and post a link it would be greatly appreciated, and also any feedback and what else could be causing my installer to do this would also be a big help If its any help my machine is running; -Gigabyte x58a-ud7 -Intel i7 920 -6GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 (3x2gb) -Gigabyte Super Overclock GTX275 -Sapphire GTS210 (Dedicated to PhysX on windows) -2x W.D 500GB 7200rpm -1x Samsung 1TB 7200rpm -Sony DVD/RW Drive -Antec TruPower 750W and I have 7 case fans and a thermalright ultra 120 so I'm pretty sure cooling isn't a issue in this instance. insanelyhacked
:censored2: This is my 3rd Hackintosh build and I must say that Kakewalk was the easiest install I have EVER done. I had an extra HD and installed 10.6 on it with the Chameleon bootloader as I had done in the past with other builds. I installed on my new machine and was up and running but had a LOT of errors. While looking around for fixes I came across Kakewalk and could not be happier. Thank you a million times MrJanek! I plan to donate when I get my next paycheck! My specs: i7 920 Gigabyte EX58 UD5 4 Gigs of Crucial DDR3 1333 Ram Zotac GeForce 9800GT (Fully working Full Res) I just have a FEW small lingering issues and they are pretty small IMO but I was hoping to get a couple pointers. 1. Sleep seems to work ok on its own but when I hit the Apple logo and force sleep, it goes to sleep fine but upon wake I get a KP. Didn't see anything on this thread mentioning a scenario like that so I was curious if anyone had that problem. 2. I am using an Asus bluetooth dongle for my magic mouse. Upon startup I get a bluetooth network message saying the device has not yet been set up. I figure this is just not fully supported but can someone confirm? Any suggestions to alternatives? 3. This one is minor, but is it possible to get the correct processor to show in "About this Mac"? Its an i7 but currently reads "Intel Quad Core Xeon". Thanks again MrJanek and thanks in advance for any advice on these subjects! Thanks again MrJanek and thanks in advance for any advice on these subjects! I have the same board. Actually 2 of that board. Q1. The ex58-UD5 does not sleep well. I have tried many things. Nothing works. Solution = Don’t sleep it. My P55A-UD3 sleeps perfectly though. Q2. After fresh boot and network prefs show new network prefs about your dongle, hit the apply button at bottom, you might have to do this a couple times. If after a couple times it doesn’t work, in network prefs delete the dongle from the list in the left pane. I am assuming you have a different network device to connect to the internet. Don’t delete it just delete the one/s associated to the dongle. I had a similar problem with a different kind of dongle and it eventually stopped adding new device on startup. Q3. I would also like to know how to change the CPU info. I tried to use the ex58 install script tool one time but the results were less than satisfactory. I hope that helps Powel Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/195248-kakewalk-minimal-effort-install-ep45-ex58-p55-g41/page/55/#findComment-1409214 Share on other sites
jkat
Hi Mrjanek, great jop, super simple 4 old gits. just my 2 cents worth. gigabyteusb.dmg ver 1.7 and 10.6 worked a treat on the EP45-UD3LR mb bios F7, with E7600 3.06 gighz processor, 4 gig 800mhz ram. gigabyte 7300gt video card either dvi or vga but not both, all resolutions All sound works, but one does not get welcome sound on first boot, need to select internal speaker, in preference. Weirdness with pci cards VIA 6306 FireWire did not work, but does in 10.5 VIA 6307 FireWire does work and VIA 6214L USB works too. (combo card) Broadcom WI-FI (minipci on pci) card (id 0x4320) mostly works ( led does not light) but works perfect in 10.5 And here's the weirdness both pci cards together don't work, mostly, but just once they did. Either card on it's own OK, Bios pci set to auto. I figure it's all this 64 bit stuff I'm an old git by the way 6502 and all that, so these days it needs to be simple or I get lost. " I can feel my mind going Dave " or as Sir Terry Prachett would say " I'll tell you when to pull that plug " I tried the 10.6.2 combo update, having read about the chameleon bootloader being able to handle it. But got KP on restart, gave it the -v next time and it seemed to be the 7300gt card that it didn't like. Oh well back to 10.6 it was 99% I'll live with out the firewire. peace and Lsd4all j kat Err 9500gt card later, and 10.6.2 update, went for airport client update 2009-002 v1.0 and my grey airport card seems 99% there's, no led flashing on the back yet. still no firewire. usb on combo card works, but not firewire and it upsets the airport card. Sleep seems to work fine, next I'll look at temp ? fan control ? anybody? simples like meerkats Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/195248-kakewalk-minimal-effort-install-ep45-ex58-p55-g41/page/55/#findComment-1409287 Share on other sites

everdone
Hi guys! this is what appaer on my screen always...anybody can help me? What that usually means is that the Install is complete but the installer could not Restart the computer. At this point Restart the computer and boot from the HD you installed on. everdone
...even if the message means "failed installation"? Yes. "Failed" is indicated because the installer could not restart the computer. I have had that same message on several installs but I ignore and restart. If it fails to start, reinstall but do a CustomInstall and only install the basic - do not install additional languages, printer drivers or additional fonts (these can be installed later if desired). trwoolley
- Meatwagon - Success! I now have AppleLPC.kext activated, showing in terminal, showing in ASP, with "Start up automatically after power failure" as an option in Energy Saver System Preferences and checked. SL runs just as beautifully as it did before my little modification - sleep still works, no KP's, etc. To see what I did check this post: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1409554 Thanks for your help! pepechuelo79
1 - Have you installed Mr Janet's package onto the second internal disk?2 - What happens if you disconnect your main disk and just boot with the 'backed up' disc. I'm going to try this this afternoon and let you know of the progress. Hi ilia, 1 - No. I've not installed mrjanek package onto second internal drive. Just Cabon Copy Cloned the start up disk. I don't know how to do that without ruining my wonderful hackintosh. Do you know how to? (I'm newby, step by step please, if it is possible, thanks). 2- I disconnected my main disk trying to boot from the Carbon Copy Cloned. But I got a "Verifying DMI Pool Disk" message forever. What i'm trying to do is to get a second bootable disk into the same hackintosh just in case a bad thing broke the installation. Thanks in advance. I downloaded Kakewalkboot into the same hackintosh. Once download finished double clicked it, selected my mobo (GA-EX58-UD5) and selected the CCCed disk. In seconds it was done. Restarted. An additional step to take is to set your 'new' HD as active. BUT, it would probably be easier just to install on the 'new' drive as if your original did not exist. In BIOS you can set the HD boot order, you can unplug the existing while installing to the new. Once install is completed and is working properly, connect both drives and set the one primary drive to boot first in BIOS. I such way that if anything goes wrong with my main disk just restart and select the other disk (that at the end of each day I would do CCC to my backup disk). He has an excellent 'script' that allows one to easily massage an install. Read the first post of the thread as it contains an explanation of what the script does and a link to download the latest version. You can use his script to make your disk active! insaneleft
mrjanek you are genious! Thanx a million! A success story for EP45C-DS3 users (not officially supported by the guide). I followed your guide precisely and on Kakewalk install I chose Gigabyte EP45-UD3P, which has very close specs to my mobo. I installed, crossing my fingers, and after 25 minutes I saw on my screen... Install Failed! Out of pure curiosity I ignored that and restarted, which proved very wise, because my Hackintosh booted into a wonderful and very stable Vanilla SL, with working sound, fully working VGA (MSI GTS250 1 GB). I updated to 1.6.2 with no problems so far. My specs (Machine recognized as MacPro3.1): Gigabyte EP45C-DS3 (recognized as Xeon 2,67) Intel Q9550 2X2 GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2@800 MSI GTS250 1GB various hdds Thanks again!!! P.S. Gigabyte users experiment, my guess is that even more mobos are supported. Pepechuelo, We have very similar equipment and I have successfully made an internal drive bootable clone of SL with CCC. Please see my post here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1403421 Since I wrote this I have removed the cloned HDD and installed it internally. With my BIOS set up as noted, I now do not press F12 at POST and instead wait for the Darwin Chameleon prompt "press any key." It sees my drives and allows me to select either SL installation. I still use F12 when I want to dual boot into my Windows 7 HDD. Good luck!
