    Radeon HD 5870 / HD 5850

Ok, my main question was whether or not someone actually got QE/QC working - which it appears not (no surprise). I have an HIS 5750 which is working fine without QE/QC but I have GE 'yes' in my .plist and a line to set the res to one of my liking. I haven't tried anything past 1366x768 or 1280x1024 though as I don't have a monitor (TV) yet to try (I have a 1080p one coming this weekend)... I'm also hoping for drivers soon...
  2. Likewise...updated to F4 and used the above DSDT/Kexts updated with the AsereBLN 1.1.9 bootloader and everything seems to be working great! It even went to sleep! Couldn't wake it up but that's farther than I've gotten before (might be my PS2 KB instead of USB)! Just need to figure out how to get it to accept a little more speed....have only managed 4 GHz (with bios set to 4.2).... I'm waiting at least a month before I punt on my 5750....jamzmar you have one sick setup (drool)!

What generic driver? QE/QC working? Multiple resolution switchable (max 1400x1050) or fixed res?
  4. I was successful using this boot CD on my UD7: http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2009/12/ins...ectly-from.html though now I am using a mod'd KW boot stick. You might try the Tony CD first then perhaps remove one of your graphics cards as a couple of troubleshooting steps...

I also have a 4850 or 4670 in my near future to replace my 5750 - though I'm not pulling the trigger until after the 10.6.3 release and the Mac Pro and MacBook Pro releases that are due any time now....(at which time I will probably also get a new MacBook Pro)....
  6. If someone has it working, and you can live with 1024x768 and no QE/QC, don't give up! Probably best to take the queries to that thread though... Like I said, I got my 5750 working and was also stuck at 1024x768 at first. Just make sure you don't have any graphics related kexts in your Extra folder. You can always try and force 1024x768 in com.apple.boot.plist as well. I've got 1280x1024 now and can probably go higher (as soon as I get a new monitor) but if I can't get QE/QC going soon, I'm in the market for a new card! Again, good luck!
  7. Things are certainly pointing to your graphics card. A lot of wasted power since you can't use QE/QC anyway (and unless 5000 series drivers come out during the next SL or MacPro update that will likely be true for the foreseeable future). Got a spare 'tosh friendly card anywhere that you can try? Which preferences? What should I be looking for?
  8. Sweet! Worked like a charm! Seems to give me a higher geekbench too, I'm up to 11210! Sleep still doesn't work though...freezes solid! But I'm down to 5 kexts! Something else interesting - my CPU now shows 4GHz whereas it was reflecting 4.1GHz previously (though I boot up 4.2 in both cases)... Thanks! steno87 - you may also need to add a line to your com.apple.boot.plist - I'm currently using a HIS 5750 and had to add the following <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1280x1024x32</string> depending on the boot method I was using in order to boot into a desired (and then only available) graphics mode. I'll probably change this to 1920x1080 as soon as my new TV arrives but am hoping apple adds some drivers in the next OSX release. If drivers aren't available soon I'll probably just get a different card so I can enable QC/QE..... Good luck!
  9. Thanks! Yeah, I splurged on the UD7 because MicroCenter had the i7 920 for $200 before Christmas. Luckily it was a newer one and can reach 4.3 within spec voltages... Appreciate the files! They didn't work for me on my boot CD though. I'm assuming you mod'd your DSDT so you could toss the other kexts? What boot file/method are your using? I'm using a modified TonyMac CD with the only mod to my vanilla SL install being RealtekR1000SL.kext in S/L/E. That way I can easily play with other kexts/dsdts without disturbing my OSX install. I'd like to boot via USB thumb but haven't been able to get that working. Have you seen these: http://www.efixusers.com/showthread.php?t=644 I may give the latest one a try next...just need to get sleep working...the only extra kexts I'm using are: NullCPUPowerManagement.kext OpenHaltRestart.kext & PlatformUUID.kext ...but since it is working, I suppose I shouldn't complain! I may also use this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...6771&st=400 for modding the dsdt to get rid of even more kexts... Thanks again!
  10. What 5 kexts are you using? Is that with shutdown/restart, sleep, audio, etc. working? Are you only using RealtekR1000SL.kext in S/L/E or anything else? What DSDT are you using? Booting via? (USB? CD? what boot file/method?)? Do you mind posting your com.apple.Boot.plist, smbios.plist, and DSDT? I have everything but sleep working but more than 5 kexts (8 plus 2 for PS2 support).... Thanks!
  11. I finally got sound! I used Tonymac's DSDT, etc. and Extras: http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2009/12/ins...ectly-from.html and replaced his sound kext with HDAEnabler.kext and LegacyHDA.kext and voila! I'm also using ApplePS2Controller.kext and AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext to drive my ps2 KB & mouse. Sleep doesn't work though.... Now I just need to get a compatible video card for QE/QC -------------------- i7 920 4.2GHz X58A-UD7 10.6.2
  12. I just downloaded this: http://www.kexts.com/view/191-gigabyte_ga-x58a-ud7.html haven't tried it yet on my UD7 though - perhaps you can compare the DSDT file in it....
  13. According to this most everything should work: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...10.6.2#Gigabyte I still need to get sound and qc/qe working though I believe both are due to my graphics card... The mobo is sweet though! I'm up to 4.3Ghz on air with mid 30C idle temps and max spec voltages...probably as far as I can push it without major tweaking... Good luck!

    Radeon HD 5750

We'll probably have to wait on QE for apple drivers but you can obtain higher resolutions by adding this to your com.apple.boot.plist file (in the /Extra folder): <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1280x1024x32</string> I was only able to test the above resolution as I only had my 32" LCD TV available for testing - it may go higher but you're still stuck with a single resolution. I still don't have sound working but I'm not sure if it is the 5750 or something else - I'm using a UD7 mobo (at 4.2Ghz so far - haven't tested higher yet )

Were you limited to 1024x768 or did you achieve a higher resolution. I also have a 5750 in a UD7 mobo and was stuck in 1024x768 - trying to decide whether to buy a 4870/90 or wait for drivers...
