Marino77
Hi everybody! I'm hamving some issues with some apps. Not working after the installation of the security Update. Some examples: Transmission (any version), Entourage 2008, Photoshop CS3, Illustrator CS3. Everything was working just fine untill reboot. Tried to downgrade to SU 2008-008 via Pacifist, didn't work. Any hint or solution will be great! Thanks

muitommy
I've tried installing the 2009-001, as it is required in order to install Safari 4,and... it's scr@@ed me up badly. The machine does not boot anymore. It looks like it was going to bring up the login window, as the screen turns into the graphics mode (blue background), but then it turns back to hi res text mode, brings several messages about generating crashlogs, blinks the blue background for another second, then goes back to text and the messages. And so it goes in a wheel. I left it for several hours, as the messages showing, were referring to different things, so I hoped it would eventually step over, but not. It's solid that way. I booted with a DVD, so I can run a terminal, but the files someone else in this thread recommended deleting are not even there in my case. Do you think there's still some way I can bring it back, or I should forget and reinstall? Why does it always have to hit only me? ... tia, jj p.s. I use iPC 10.5.6 on Gigabyte EP45-DQ6 (it took me like a month to get everything to work...) p.p.s. this at least makes me feel not alone... http://www.tuaw.com/2009/02/16/reports-of-...ecurity-update/ i should be "glad"? finally someone report the same issue as i did, by the way, don't reinstall, or you only need to reinstall the 10.5.6 update, or boot up with the voodoo kernel (i could just not with vanilla) there should be something do with the javascript/webkit frameworks, but i really don't know how to fix it... Thanks Hi Marino77, Did you try to see the output of syslog and dmesg commands from the terminal when you try to launch these applications ? how can i test if java works properly?? thx Well, you can use these: 1. java -version 2. java -verbose -splash:<path of some small jpg file to splash> the verbose will tell you if JRE is able to laod modules properly or not. 3.Run some java applets.Goto : http://www.falstad.com/mathphysics.html for some Maths/Physics simulations which use applets. 4.Last but not the least,compile/execute some java bytecode javac/javaw. Andy Vandijck
Two new Apple updates are available via "Software Update". The first one being Security Update 2009-001 and the second one the Java for Mac OS X 10.5, Update 3, which Apple says addresses compatibility and security issues with Java Web Start and Java Applets. More information about security updates, like the "Java for Mac OS X 10.4, Release 8" and the Safari update for Microsoft Windows users, can be found here. Warning: "A number of users have reported that system startup fails after installation of Security Update 2009-001. Reader reports include...". Source macfixit.com Note: I installed the updates on all our Mac's, including one Hackintosh - no problem whatsoever. No probs on my machine, Java and all working fine...
