quantumdeth
That's what i tried too, but i got several kernel panics with it. They were gone when i reverted it - i guess it's the IO8211Family.kext. I heard other people had the same problem. Really? are you dual booting? using iPC X-dl? I found that sometimes kismac doesn't work so i boot to xp using Acronis O.S. selector, then jump back to osx and it works again. (BTW Acronis OS selector is freaking awesome for dual booting, it works flawlessly on my AA1 150, installs in seconds, and there's a torrent out there with serial# activation) Ive done this to a couple AA1's id love to help, maybe i should make a tutorial on my exact setup i have running, XP and OSX 10.5.6 dual booting with Acronis on a MBR partition table, with a 25gb fat32 partition for a shared media library between the operating systems so itunes recognizes the music library shared between the 2 perfectly. Shecky Lovejoy
Hey y'all. Longtime listener, first time caller. Big ups to Redliner and all the rest for putting this guide together. Special thanks for keeping the main post edited and up-to-date. I've discovered that in the OSX86 world, stuff gets out-of-date very quickly. It's really amazing how far the OSX86 Community has come since I first started looking at this. Anyway, Mrs. Lovejoy got an Aspire One A150-1672 as a gift, and since the Lovejoys hate Windows, I thought I'd turn it into a MacBook Nano. She thinks it's just a toy, but I know better. I may install a dual-boot later with an nLited XP Pro if full hardware compatibility becomes an issue, but for now, I'm pretty happy with what we got going on a $320 netbook I've never installed Leopard on a PC that wasn't put together with compatibility as a first principle, so I thought this would be difficult. Not so thanks to this guide. So here's my results: 1. Unlike Redliner, I used the final release of iPC 10.5.6 and so far no additional issues to what's been reported here. 2. One thing missing from the guide is that it is important to use Chameleon 9 bootloader with a 10.5.6 iPC installer. Chameleon 8 will not work. Most of the guides out there tell you to use OSX86 Tools to install version 8 after restoring the iPC .iso to a drive. This is out-of-date info. I have attached the one-click installer for Chameleon 9, since it took me a little while to find it. 3 Once I got the iPC installer booted, the process was laughably simple and straightforward (again, a tribute to how far the Community has come). By contrast, the process for installing Windows is much more difficult and time consuming, even when factoring in all the post-patching. Go figure. 4. I have ordered the Dell wifi card and more RAM. Wish me luck, those videos on YouTube a frightening. However, even with just the stock 1 GB, I can run VMWare Fusion and Photoshop pretty well, if a tad slowly (lots of VM swapping). 5. Fully Working (so far): Address Book, Photoshop/Bridge, Audacity, Automator/Applescript, Calculator, Dashboard, Dictionary, Expose, Final Draft, Firefox, Flip4Mac, Perian, Front Row, iCal, iPhoto, iTunes, Mail, Word/Excel/PowerPoint 2009, Photobooth, Preview, Quicktime Player Pro, StarPlayr, Time Machine, VMWare Fusion, MobileMe syncing, Fast User Switching, File Sharing, Screen Sharing. 6. Partially working: iChat (internal mic), Yahoo Messenger (internal mic), Carbon Copy Cloner (see below) 7. Not working at all: DVD Player (I was seeing if it would play a VIDEO_TS folder, but it will not launch without a drive). 8. EDIT: Forgot to mention -- D-Link DBT-120 Bluetooth USB dongle works OOTB. Issues (much of this is redundant, but I wanted to put it all in one place and clarify a few things) 1. Sleep/hibernate: I have successfully gotten hibernate working using the method described here. I have also tried the sleep fix in the "Lazy" package, but as reported by Redliner, the One will not wake after sleep, but it does cure the KP. Additionally, as previously reported, sound out ceases to work after wake from hibernate, but the headphones jack still works. The mic continues to work in the same (limited) manner as before after hibernate. Any word on the EFI string to fix the sound out issue? Additionally, when a USB drive it attached, I get the drive-not-put-away-properly error message on wake from hibernate. The drive mounts back up fine. 2. Internal mic: Works with Audacity, QT Player Pro and in Sound System Prefs (a little low on the volume, but it works), but not with iChat or Yahoo Messenger. Strangely, there is no source/output preferences in the Audio/Video prefs panel in iChat. Video works fine for both iChat and Yahoo. 3. I keep getting an extraneous Menu Bar icon (card reader?). It has double the entries in the column after hibernate. It looks like this: 4: I cannot get aRtGUIscale to work. There are no instructions anywhere and no matter what I try I get vague error messages ("oops!" or "Undefined"). Why are there two text entry fields? Why does that monkey keep mocking me? 5. Trackpad: No multitouch love from FFScroll. Anything else to try? 6. Carbon Copy Cloner. Of course you have to install Chameleon 9 after the clone to get it bootable, but now I get KP when I try to close the clamshell when booted from the clone. Will investigate later. Thanks again to everyone. Now if I can just convince Mrs. Lovejoy to give it to me. Chameleon_9_one_click_bootloader.zip

Wish me luck, those videos on YouTube a frightening. However, even with just the stock 1 GB, I can run VMWare Fusion and Photoshop pretty well, if a tad slowly (lots of VM swapping). 4: I cannot get aRtGUIscale to work. Don't sweat the wifi card install it is a lot simpler than it looks, one word of advice is to print out some of the images of each step and use that to place the screws so you know where they went. Like you I got some more memory as if I was going in I might as well max it out, that step is a little more tense but by the time you get that far you are in the groove. aRtGUIscale works a treat for me (and I used the same image as you for the install) I can't remember the percentage you have to use now something like .85 (don't quote me on it) and it then applys it when you maximise the app window. It has come in handy but now I have gotten used to the AAO I hardly use it, I am seriously unlikey to be using an app that needs the extra deskspace when I am out and about and at home I could always hook the AAO to an external monitor, which it handles perfectly. Personally I don't feel the need to dual boot it, it had been my intention to dual boot it with ubuntu. Everything basically works, even the left hand sd card slot if the card is present at boot. The mic is quiet but then if I was really going to use it in ichat etc I would just plug in an external headset. OSX sits so nicely on the AAO I am suprised that apple haven't gone the netbook route, there would be a market for it even if they changed a hefty premium for a slick atom 330 model. SkizZO
Good work guys!!! I have installed the iatkos v5 distro on my aspire one A150 with an USB key.. Now i am trying to install the ipc relase through usb.... i have some problems.. As i have done before (with iatkos), i have formatted the drive with FAT32, then restored the iPC 10.6.5 ISO to a 8GB USB Key, also i've set the partition as active with fdisk. Unfortunately i am unable to start the iPC installation via USB flash pen... Has someone had success with the installation VIA USB ?? I haven't an external dvd drive, so this is my only solution.... SkizZO
Ok, you're right, BUT the size limit of 4GB is for ONE file of 4GB Restoring the ISO, produces MANY files LOWER than 4gb.... Perhaps i've tried installing v9 bootloader to the USB; on the reboot it say: Boot 0: error Boot 0: done Boot 1: error i think i'm at 1 step to the solution.... after this error i've shut down my pc and the pen was corrupted.... now i've to re-restore the iso on the pen, then reinstall The v9 bootloader, and as my "next try" i'll try to activate manually the partition on the USB pen.. but it should be done automatically by the bootloader installer.... If someone hasideas, please tell me thanx! :::::::::::::::SOLVED ::::::::::::::::::::: A) Format the pen in MacOS Journaled (MBR) restore the iso into your usb pen with disk utility C) Intall chameleon efi v9 (i've used the one posted some posts ago) D) Boot your installation. PS: To "preserve" the usb installation, i've made a physical copy ofthe pen (into a .vhd image) with WinImage. Now i do the same with UBUNTU 8.10 and VISTA, and i am ready to install all 3 os. The main problem however, was the macOSX, because the "usb installation method" can be build only with a MacOS, so if i was installing vista (from the same usb) before, i were unable to reintall macos. Now i have to restore the vhd image with a win pc to the usb pen. I hope those info interests someone... and sorry for the bad grammar....

harrylol
After searching and looking up information I decided to give Mac OS X a try on my AA1 and so I have a copy of iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Final v1.1 burned and ready to install. I got hooked up with an external DVD-reader and connected it to my AA1 (A150) with iPC in it. After selecting the boot menu priority it boots from DVD and I get a nice white screen with the gray Apple logo along with the "loading circle" beneath it. From here it stays like this till eternity (well at least 2 a 3 hours) and the only noise I can hear is from the loud fan of the AA1 and a spinning DVD. I have the latest BIOS (3309) installed and have tested various settings to see what could be the problem: -Tested the iPC DVD on my Dell --> it boots up but in contrast to the AA1 I _do_ get the menu after the white loading screen in some minutes on the Dell, and I can hear the DVD-drive reading the DVD under load for a long time, this does _not_ happen on the external DVD-drive that's connected to my AA1. -Tested the DVD-drive with other media, it booted up a Vista DVD (same brand DVD-R as the iPC DVD), worked although it gave an error during the installation proces of Vista when it had to extract files (this occured at 0%). -Tested a Windows XP CD on it, worked, halfway during install I aborted since I was convinced it could not be the DVD-drive. -Last but not least I booted up a Symantec Ghost 14.0 Restory DVD (same brand as both the Vista DVD and the iPC DVD) to restore the original image with Windows XP Home I made earlier that day which worked. So after summing up these tests I am not sure what the problem could be. Honestly I think it is the DVD-drive, since it also gave on error during the Vista installation but on the other hand the Symantec Ghost Recovery DVD did work. The reason the Symantec DVD worked could be due to the possibility it has to read at start from the DVD and the rest of the process is restoring from the harddrive... Sigh, some help would be appreciated, or else I will have to try to find another DVD-drive or some way to install it with an external USB HDD. Could it be the Acer? UPDATE FIXED. chuckcalo
Ok, Hibernate totally screwed up my system. Turns out I didn't restart the acer for like 3 days and I made a lot of modifications those days still there was a hibernate file created last time I restarted the acer so then I went restart it and I was back to my desktop 3 days ago and I was sure I was done. I shut down the acer and boot up but it wouldn't. So if you ever create a sleepimage remember to delete it before you restart.
harrylol
Update ______ I have OSx86 working now but it is installed on my external USB HDD (don't ask why ). How can I backup the OSx86 installation on the USB HDD and restore that backup to the Acer HDD. This would be very nice since I have to connect the USB HDD to the AA1 for booting up OSx86. Sorry for the noob questions, I am new to OS X so bare with me ^^. ~Regards UPDATE FIXED.
quantumdeth
Unfortunately i am unable to start the iPC installation via USB flash pen... Has someone had success with the installation VIA USB ?? I haven't an external dvd drive, so this is my only solution.... Through trial and error i have installed iPC on my AA1 at least a dozen times. The first 6 times were directly from an 8 gb flash drive, partitioned 7 gb for iPc and 1gb for the "unofficial aspire one recovery disc" image i got from demonoid. i even have a folder on there holding all my kext's, kismac, dual booting software. so essentially ive made a flash drive capable of doing every last step to turn an AA1 into a dual boot macbook nano. So anyone try that kismac wireless thing i mentioned in my prior post?????
