Has anyone had issues with the 10.4.6 update and dual-boot functionality? According to Apple:

You may experience unexpected results if you have third-party system software modifications installed, or if you've modified the operating system through other means.

Is this meant to directly thwart XoM by Apple?

I assume you have to rebless the boot.efi file in the CoreService folder after updating using Terminal (sudo bless --folder . --file xom.efi --setBoot).

I havent been able to boot into osx in anything other than safe mode for at least an hour! Anyone else having this problem?

I'm on a 20 inch iMac as well. After the install and reboot I am now stuck at the "Starting Mac OS X" screen with the progress bar at 100%. It has been stuck at this screen for an hour. I've tried several reboots to see if it would go further, but it hasn't. So then I entered single-user mode and reblessed the xom.efi file and can boot into windows, but I still can't boot into mac. Any clue how to solve this?

Good point! Nice to know that if OS X does spit the dummy and you haven't got another computer handy, you can atleast do the single user mode xom rebless and get into XP to go finding a solution on the web.

:)

What 3rd party programs do you have installed on your mac? Not everyone with a 20" has this problem, i'd like to see what the variables are. What about searching wider on the net, see if non-xp-dual-booting people have had this issue too....

On my MacBook Pro:

Had issues after the update with Airport connnections. Then I turned it on and off, messed around with it, etc. and now it seems to work just like before.

For the dual booting issues: All you need to do is either enter these few lines into terminal

1st: cd /System/Library/CoreServices

2nd: sudo bless --folder . --file xom.efi --setBoot

You need to copy the first line then press enter, then copy the second line, press enter, and enter your password when asked.

Or, if you don't like doing that you can always download XOMHelper , run it, press O.K. at the first dialog box, press mess with xom.efi, and then press install xom.efi.

The second way is easier.... and the xomhelper program is great to have anyway.

Hope no one has problems,
