littlepr
Since most of the compatile boards are DDR I am going to suggest DDR. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13595-ddr-or-sdram/#findComment-86736 Share on other sites
JimBob
Check out the hardware forum for more on the best hardware. I don't think memory in itself is the issue as much as the motherboard, processor, etc that the memory is installed with. declan
I may be wrong but any sse2 supported chip only work with ddr chips. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13595-ddr-or-sdram/#findComment-86757 Share on other sites
New001
to run osx86 on a pc, do you need ddr or sdram? On my "About This Mac", it says "512MB DDR SDRAM" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13595-ddr-or-sdram/#findComment-86760 Share on other sites
Eskurza
I may be wrong but any sse2 supported chip only work with ddr chips. This is not true. There are P4 boards with SDRAM also Xeon Boards come with RDRAM usually. -------- SDRAM is old and slower.. DDR is the new technology.. declan
Wasn't quite sure, am tired, probably best to rest brain, as am not thinking straight. I know about Xeon and RDRAM, but the q was DDR or SDRAM, interesting to know some boards support p4 and sdram..DDRAM is precisely what it says, double the data rate of sdram o and you can forgive me cos i'm tired and slightly drunk, nighty night I suppose the response is ram doesn't matter, as long as the chip supports PAE and SSE2, and a bit of luck you should be ok. Though my first attempt on a AMD Sempron 3000+ failed, motherboard wasn't compatible, so i ended up building a custom intel setup...Its just hit and miss whether your current setup works, though its pretty cheep to build a compatible system. vinlar
to run osx86 on a pc, do you need ddr or sdram? DDR is simply a category of SDRAM. DDR (double data rate) means that data is transferred on the leading and trailing edges of each clock cycle. An SDRAM module that lacks "DDR" will only transfer data once per clock cycle. Sabr
Well, actually, DDR2 is the new kid on the block... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13595-ddr-or-sdram/#findComment-88228 Share on other sites
