MACinized
I get two errors at the end of that script (before it reports that it is complete). Is that normal? pls post the errors you're getting. for steps 11-15, don't know how detail should it be. i believe it'd be better if u specify what exactly is it u don't fully understand (for each & every step). travisbickle
How and when do I set the MacLoader partition as active? In the same window? Should a textedit open when I run the script? Because it doesn't... I am confused about how (and whether I should expect prompts after every line) to execute the script at stage 14. MACinized
How and when do I set the MacLoader partition as active? In the same window? Should a textedit open when I run the script? Because it doesn't... I am confused about how (and whether I should expect prompts after every line) to execute the script at stage 14. - just follow step 14! u follow step 14 once you're done w/ step 13, that is you've run the macloader.sh script. - no. TextEdit.app will only open if you've double-clicked the script file. u have to run the script using the Terminal.app! - the script(s) should only prompt twice. 1st asking where u installed leopard (name of hdd/partition) and 2nd asking where u have MacLoader (name of hdd/partition). dogbait
Many thanks for the detailed guide. I'm having a little trouble setting the Macloader partition as bootable. diskutil list /dev/disk0 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: GUID_partition_scheme *298.1 Gi disk0 1: EFI 200.0 Mi disk0s1 2: Apple_HFS Macloader 896.0 Mi disk0s2 3: Apple_HFS Macintosh 296.9 Gi disk0s3 Then I run fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 and run 'flag 2' to set Macloader as bootable, but when I try to reboot the bios hangs on waiting for boot device. Going back into OS X shows the flag isn't there. Any thoughts? fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0: print produces: Disk: /dev/rdisk0 geometry: 38913/255/63 [625142448 sectors] Offset: 0 Signature: 0xAA55 Starting Ending #: id cyl hd sec - cyl hd sec [ start - size] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1: EE 1023 254 63 - 1023 254 63 [ 1 - 625142447] <Unknown ID> 2: 00 0 0 0 - 0 0 0 [ 0 - 0] unused 3: 00 0 0 0 - 0 0 0 [ 0 - 0] unused 4: 00 0 0 0 - 0 0 0 [ 0 - 0] unused Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/128274-totally-vanilla-retail-leopard-install-with-efi-strings-support-powered-by-chameleon-20/page/7/#findComment-971372 Share on other sites
bsod
updated pcefi v9 Would all you have to do is to change the "boot" file from your MacLoader parition from the default Chameleon to the pcefiv9? cause i tried that and sleep still doesnt work i might just go back to iAtkos cause atleast sleep worked on my Dell XPS m1330 with that... shmk
Hi first off fantastic guide this method rocks. Everything worker really well for me until I updated to 10.5.5 I get a panic on start up (see image) it seems to be the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. I am not very technically inclined so can someone tell me how do I fix it? I would think that I have to somehow add a compatible version of the kext to my macloader partition or disable it somehow? How does one add/remove, rebuild the extentions.mkext on the MacLoader partition? Someone earlier seems to have the same problem but I didn't really understand the response. Anyone care to dumb it down for me? So before the update I had : AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext Version 9.25.0 now after 10.5.5 it is Version 9.39.2 could I just replace the new version with the old one on the MacLoader partition? If so would I have to do any chown-ing or whatever? Can I just repack the Extensions.mtext with the older AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext and put it back on the MacLoader partition? Am I way off base here anyhow is this the right approach in the first place? cheers Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/128274-totally-vanilla-retail-leopard-install-with-efi-strings-support-powered-by-chameleon-20/page/7/#findComment-997090 Share on other sites

shmk
Did you use step #19 in the guide? yup, still didn't work even repeated it My system still boots from the boot disc I made but won't boot without it. Can I wipe my MacLoader partition and start from scratch again without having to reinstall and re-update my Leo installation? ... Did that now it boots up. awesome! The only issue I am having now is that all my internal drives are seen as external and in the sidebar my dvd/cds are seen as internal. Don't know why Thanks for the kick ass method. Monkey_@@
Hi MACinized, Do you think this method is going to work with the 10.5.6 update? What about the DSDT patch, will it be necessary to install it? Thanks, M. honestly i haven't exerted any effort to understand what the dsdt is all about or whether or not it is needed by all osx86 enthusiasts. perhaps someone can enlighten me (give us a 'heads up')? if a new version of chameleon will be released taking care of the dsdt patch, then i guess we should not have any problem w/ this method. can't wait for the 10.5.6 update. Monkey_@@
It's me again... :-) I've seen that you have made an update so I've tried to modify my MacLoader partition using the new "MacLoader_rev2.zip" available. What I did was erasing ALL content of my MacLoader and after followed the instructions provided, copy my old kexts to the KEXTs folder and running ./macloader and ./updater once I already have 10.5.5 installed. Well, after that I've got a kernel panic from Apple PowerManagement or something like that... an error concerning the number of processors I think. So, I've all way back and restored the MacLoader partition (always keep my backups before any changes!). And the system is working as before... Any tips on how can I try to "migrate" the old MacLoader to this new one? Monkey_@@
Well, I've tried upgrqding to 10.5.6 after Netkas tips but I've got a freezing mouse and keyboard. So, I decided to roll back using the TimeMachine in order to update my MacLoader partition according to the version 2. Success on TimeMachine rolling back! So, after I've got the system running again I've erased the MacLoader partition (using Disk Util) and installed the MacLoader_rev.2 (Chamelion, etc). Now, when I boot I just get that blinking cursor!!! I was using a dual boot with Vista. I've already tried to run fdisk qnd flag the MacLoader partition but the blinking cursor is still there... I've tried to use the Vista Installation DVD to repair the system (at least for boot on Vista and use EasyBCD) but got the blinking cursor! And now I don't know what else to try! My disk is as follows: disk0s1: EFI (GUID) disk0s2: Vista disk0s3: Data disk0s4: MacLoader disk0s5: Macintosh If I use my boot-132 CD I can still boot Mac and use it... Any clues??? TIA, M.
