theSpam
Argh, this ISO DOES NOT work for me. I get past the grey Apple logo screen and then I have a few lines of flashing text (which I cannot read) and it just hangs at that. Stick with the Myzar DVD... AJerman
Argh, this ISO DOES NOT work for me. I get past the grey Apple logo screen and then I have a few lines of flashing text (which I cannot read) and it just hangs at that. Stick with the Myzar DVD... This is actually the first time I am trying to install and I'm getting the same thing. The ISO is labeled "INTEL_AMD" so I assumed that the 1.0a patches were already setup in it at first, but after I got the seg faults I thought it was the AMD issue and maybe 1.0a wasn't actually in it. Now that you've also posted that it doesn't work with similar issues, I'm wondering if it's something completely different. Anyone else have any results to share? jdxxx
Did you select Custom Install and then Select the appropriate kernel patch for your system? For this to install properly, YOU MUST select Custom install (appears after the license screen, at bottom). Scroll to the last custom selection -- these are the Maxxuss patches. Then select the patches you wish to apply (AMD, Intel, SSE) -- these have tool tips attached. You must check these, they are not automatically selected!! If you do not do this, you will not install a patched and working system. It works for me. The gray apple screen comes up for a minute or two then crashes out to framebuffered text saying seg fault over and over about... I'd say 50 times. Another thing to note is that it seems that this release was pulled from locations where it was previously found. I'm going with the idea that there was something wrong with it and looking into a different release. jdxxx
I agree this image has problems. After further testing, I cannot install to VMWare. Native install to harddrive works, but on boot of system, several kext are noted "improperly installed" (PS2, AC97, IONet) -- thus no sound, no PS2 keyboard. JaS other patch for 8F1111 was very good, so I had high hopes. BUT.... Stick with the Myzar image for now. AJerman
Related or unrelated, I figured I'll post here to ask... One thing I did notice when the installer loaded up and I read the feature flags for my CPU was that SSE3 was not one of them. I have a Venice core AMD Athlon 64 which has SSE3. Like I said, this is my first time actually trying to install, so I don't know if this is common, didn't show up because of some bug in the installer, or somehow there is something wrong with my setup. macprodan
that is a know bug with the patched 10.4.4 / 5 i was worried my CPU was not being used to its full, but i have been told it is still using SSE3 if CPU has it even if its not listed in system profiler/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12079-macosx1045universalinstalldvdintel_amd_sse3_sse2/page/2/#findComment-77521 Share on other sites

dualBooter
On the new JaS DVD, It DL'd and burned flawlessly for me. Upon going to do the install, on my "Dev PC" (specs in my sig) it got about 10-15 seconds into loading and then just a thin band across the top of yellow and red, and has been like that for over an hour now. Under vmware on my Ath-64 3400 lappy, it goes into loading 10-15 seconds, and starts to get the flashing text (alluded to by 'the Spam' in post #26), part of which says: unknown sigegv code 0. The only references on Google I was able to see about sigegv errors had to do with Fortran. It doesn't let me get into Safe Mode on either system, so as far as I can see, either there is some line(s) of flawed/corrupted code, or this DVD might be compiled in such a way that it is only going to properly load on a specific subset of PCs. What has everyone else been seeing? BTW, props to JaS for always contributing selflessly of time and energy - you're still batting about .850, bud! dualBooter
Is it possible that someone from 'a certain 30 year old company' DL'd it & then purposely seeded a tainted copy? bluedragon1971
Is it possible that someone from 'a certain 30 year old company' DL'd it & then purposely seeded a tainted copy? No, because that would have to be re-seeded as a different torrent. Torrents use hashes to verify that the data is correct. dragonpool
This Universal one does not work for me either on DELL 9200. Patches were installed during custom setup. Problems happened when running "sh /etc/rc" to line: "launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons /etc/mach_init.d" if no "-x" was used, the other command: "launchctl load /Library/LaunchDaemons /System/Library/LaunchDaemons /etc/mach_init.d" would run, but still error happened. The error was like something of "illegal instructions". Something must be wrong with this Universal ISO. Maybe it is a bad copy. And now it looks that this ISO disappears from sources. littlepr
Ok Guys, I just upgraded a 10.4.3 Jas patched installation using the 10.4.5 Jas patched DVD. Now I need to know if flash is suppose to work in Safari with this upgrade. BTW, flash does work in FireFox and in IE and I also know that it does work if I enable Rosetta. I just wnt to make sure this is still the case. If not then can someone guide me in the right direction to have flash work natively without having to enable Rossetta?
