kwanbis
After always wanting to have one, I just bought my first macbook in USA. Now, back at Argentina, and not even 2 months of light use, the fan keeps running all the time. The bottom of the macbook is pretty hot, not so much as to burn, but hot. Looks like a motherboard issue, right? Anyone had experience on trying to fix outside USA? Would apple warranty cover it? Thanks. scj312
Check Activity Monitor and see if anything is eating up the CPU. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/101401-my-macbook-cooler-keeps-running/#findComment-723873 Share on other sites
kwanbis
Firefox was using 108/130 (% ??) of the CPU. My wife had opened like 100 tabs. If i turn it off, the coolers go down. Now, when firefox WAS running, the sound of the cooler was like the sound of a USB Hard drive? Very strong. Not that it would get you deaf. Is this normal? kwanbis
It is a 2 month old machine. I don't think it should have too much dust. What i wonder, is why it gets much hotter than my T60. vaporATX
Because the T60 is much better designed machine. T60 business class laptop designed to be worked hard and take a lot of punishment. The Macbook is a consumer level laptop designed for college girls to check their email and load their iPods. JSn1™
This will happen when using CPU intensive apps. For example, when I'm using Final Cut, the fans are on till I 4 or 5 five minutes after I close it. Also when running Windows Vista in BootCamp, and when using parallels. Well, let me tell you that 100 tabs opened turn firefox on a CPU intensive app. Also, use the MacBook on a solid surface, a table or so would be ok. I do prefer a bit of noise than damaging my processor. I previously had a dell e1705 like the fellow below and the macbook blows it away. When booted into windows experience index, it only gets lower on video and higher on everything else, and if your going for gaming you shouldn't be buying a mac anyway. But who wants to run windows anyway. Firefox with that many tabs will eat ram for breakfast and that could definitely be a reason for it running hot. Should be using safari anyway Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/101401-my-macbook-cooler-keeps-running/#findComment-733198 Share on other sites
