I'd like to point out that buying a refurb from Apple typically sets things pretty balanced.  The only trouble is the newer releases tend to have some bells and whistles that really put the refurbs to shame.  I ended up shelling out more when I got my first Mac just because the refurbs didn't come with multitouch.
