Technobob
I'm buying my first Mac in a couple of months, not sure if it will be a MacBook or MacBook Pro depends on how much cash I will have. I was looking at protecting it using one of these see thru case protectors and wanted to know if anyone has one or knows someone who has one. I have a couple concerns, one is heat they say that all vents are open but not all the heat comes from the vents. The other concerns is dirt getting under the shell, how tight do these fit. http://www.speckproducts.com/
turpentine
just buy a sleeve. these look like a waste of money.
Vladimir
I wouldn't bother. Save the $50 for your next laptop. By the time you replace the MacBook, $50 will buy a decent RAM or HD upgrade.
kevin_4e
That does seem to be pretty pricey for a cover. For whatever it's worth, I've got a black MacBook and it doesn't seem to take any visible damage. People were saying that they're going to chip but I think I'd have to whack it pretty good to have that happen. I have a case thingy that I got for somewhere around $20 and it works fine. head
if they would be avaiable in germany or austria, it would be just great! but there is still no chance...
Technobob
The reason I'm looking at one of these is my job site. They use black silica sand, even though my office is not in the plant the sand gets everywhere. A soft case would protect it from travel to and from work but not at work. I just want to maintain the case so I can get a better resell in 4 years when it's time for a new one.
Menno
I think that changes the situation, but personally I think this looks horrible
Numberzz
Me too. Use the carbon fiber case.
Technobob
I finally found some reviews on this product and it's not good The thing causes more scratches then it prevents what happens is dirt gets between the case and the laptop, even thou the case is a snug fit there is some movement so the dirt just keeps rubbing against the laptop scratching the hell out of it. I decided just to buy a neoprene sleeve and keep my old Thinkpad T40 for work
drprimo
I have one of these for my MacBook Pro. I have to say I am glad I got it. It serves it purpose very well, and looks great. I have had many people comment on it. I have not had any heat issues with it. As for scratches, it does not seem to be a problem. It actually stands of from the MBP slightly with little pads in the corner. When stuff does get between the case and the MBP, it does drive me a little nuts (but maybe I'm just a little crazy and overprotective of my new baby). As for the price, it is $35 with free shipping on Amazon, or you can try ebay as I have seen them close under $30, but make sure you get the right one for your model (there are different ones for older and newer MBs as the cutouts are different because the arrangment of the ports changed). Skype1964
Try this: www.notebook-cover.com I have purchased this a week ago, and I loved it! Because not like other hardcase, it won't ruin Apple looks. It's simple and cute!
