Asus P4800-E Deluxe

Well I didn't really do anything to get QE/CI, when i installed 10.4.7 i installed Prasys GeForce FX5200 installer. That didn't give me QE/CI, just the ability to change resolutions. So then i did this update to 10.4.8 and used titan's nvidia driver thats with the patch from eGWan. And when i rebooted i have QE/CI and all resolutions.

Heres a link to prasys installer

If anyone has any questions reply back.

I too would like to see how well this update works on my Dell D820. I traded my IPW3945 wifi card for a truemobile 1490 card, and got it recognized as soon as i went into sys prefs. Now just need to get the nVidia NVS 120 (aka - GeForce 7400) to have full res AND QE/CI.

Please eGWan, throw me a bone here. :( Or a tomato... ;)

Thanks in advance!

after so many people asking me how to install over and over,

damn.. they should read the readme file,

Here the requirements:

- Any Intel with SSE3 Capable [ P4 Presscot or above]

- A Working OSx86 10.4.4 or above

- Agree to use at your own risk!!

What you have to download:

- Original Apple 1048 Combo Update

- My Patch

Instruction:

If your cpu BIOS has NX /HPET feature then enable it,

NX/HPET usualy in:

Advanced Menu -> CPU Configurations -> Execute Disable Function

but if you unsure there's no nx/hpet dont choose any kernel,

the installer will install semthex B8 as default kernel*

*You can upgrade it by manual download it from irc

You should backup your drivers before install then

Install Apple 1048 Combo Update but DONT restart then apply my patch,

When applying my patch choose customize, then pick:

- DaemonES or Mifki [if your cpu has NX/HPET Feature]

- Mifki NO NX [if your cpu doesnt have NX/HPET Feature]

- or Semthex Kernel [it will install as default kernel and it doesnt need NX]

then pick your device drivers e.g Laptop Battery Indicator [just realy like to call it rather than power mangement :pirate2: ], Titan, GMA900 or GMA950, Realtek ALC882 etc

All drivers came with description so you should know what to pick,

dont be stupid like installing the kexts that you dont have its device

if you're going to upgrade on laptop,

move IOPCCardFamily.kext inside /System/Library/Extensions before restart,

you can easily move it by righ click IOPCCardFamily.kext then then choose move to trash before restart.

for pcmcia driver:

after install, try replacing IO80211Family.kext, IOPCCardFamily.kext, IOPCIFamily.kext or AppleAPIC.kext with 10.4.5 version

If you get kernel panic issue,

try boot with -legacy

or

boot with -s, then type . /restorevga

PM me for the link if your cpu meets the requirements and want to try ,

Sory about my english :)

well after 2 days of reinstalling OSX i dont think this is the method for me..

im using the Acer Travelmate 4202

it uses the intel core duo 1.66Ghz T23000

no matter which kernel i use i get kernel panics at bootup, i have tried booting in verbose mode but it crashes at slightly different times..

dunno what to do now, i will try a few more times...

hey, read my post #65

before restart you have to re/move IOPCCardFamily.kext or replace AppleAPIC.kext with 10.4.5 version

Ok! Thanks. that now works, its slower than my 10.4.7 install though..

but my realtek HD audio dosent work (dosent show up), also my ethernet isnt working, the preference pane crashes, about this mac sees my onboard ethernet, i just dont get any link, though the link light is on... weird..

Which one should we installed first, the drivers or the updates? or its just doesnt matter? Maybe eGwan can provide a step by step tutorial how to install it (the OS X) and then the steps that should be done after OS X installation..

just my suggestions... to reduce the same questions asked over and over again..

;)
