Geek_Mac2001 Posted June 13, 2013 Share Posted June 13, 2013 Hello There and i am going to develop Guest Additions for OS X 10.5 , 10.6 , 10.7 and 10.8 also for OSx86 Also i am going to put eveything and something else README: This is unofficial version of Guest Additions for Mac OS X Guest (10.5 and above) In order to avoid kernel panic or some random errors like "still waiting for root device" or something else , Try to close all applications or something else. By Paolo Landayan Requirements Here are the requirements to install Guest Additions on OS X Guests 1 GB of RAM 128 MB of Video RAM and Enable 3D Acceleration is required Sound Card must be AC97 Audio or HDA For Native Networking support , Try enabling Shared NAT or Bridged Network Intel ICH9 are not supported , Try changing to PIIX chipset To enable Core Image and Quartz Extreme Support , Your VBox Graphics Chip , Enable 3D Acceleration to support both APIs OpenGL Support will be enabled automatically if you install Guest Additions To enable AGP , tick Enable 3D Acceleration to enable it NOTE (IMPORTANT TO READ IT): Quartz Extreme and Core Image are Experimental at the moment Due to the bugs of this version , It's still in development AGP works , But there' some minor bugs like Graphic Artifacts and Flickering To avoid kernel panic before and after shutdown or restart , Close all open applications and Save your work Installation: Download the iso here : [under Construction] Mount the Guest Additions iso in VirualBox Click on the Drive named VBOXGUESTADDITONS Click VBoxGAInst.app to Install VBox Guest Additions Click Next to Continue Accept the EULA Select components here and Click Next Wait until the installation is finished After Installing Reboot your guest VM Ta-da , Now you can do anything as you want , Enjoy! themacmeister Posted September 17, 2013 Share Posted September 17, 2013 This will break the Apple SLA on non-Apple hardware That being said, I have my 10.8.4 boot running directly off existing HDD, only issue is panic after CPU halted on shutdown. You can use "Graphics Mode"="1920x1080x32" to set custom resolutions (add your own SUPPORTED resolution. I run in fullscreen most of the time, so this is perfect for me. werediver Posted October 31, 2013 Share Posted October 31, 2013 I'm very interested in running OS X on VirtualBox and the last attempt was almost ideal. I've run Mavericks on VirtualBox 4.3.0 without any single one modification in the OS X Two problems are that there was no audio support and very restricted video. The audio support can be achieved using VoodooHDA, but how to fix video... So, I think an extended video support is the most important feature for OSX@VBOX! P.S. Really hope I can use/test this soon - on legit Apple MacBook Pro. (Rosetta Support "on top of" ML/Mav while still having Graphic Acceleration without needing to purchase VMware to use the unofficial open source graphics driver.) I've tried the one that comes with the recent version of VirtualBox and it will not install.... It keeps complaining about finding the correct library path... where is your version or copy of Guest Additions located ? Is it available for download ? any help would be appreciated.... Anyway, I have successfully installed 10.9.4 Mavericks on a quad proce Haswell running Win8.1, using Niresh's distro. Everything pretty much works, except folder sharing, since VirtualBox devs refuse to release the required mount.vboxsf related modules. So I had this other crazy idea. What if we could use the the drivers from VMWare Tools for OS X instead? Basically you can download the latest fusion one from here: softwareupdate vmware com / cds vmw-desktop fusion com.vmware.fusion.tools.darwin.zip.tar and open/extract the files with 7-zip and you will find a darwin.iso, that you can mount.
