[SOLVED] Post-Installation ML 10.8.3 on Acer Aspire 5740G

Hi, this is the first time that I write in english forum so excuse me if I make mistakes... my english is not too good...

 

Well, I have successfully installed mountain lion on my acer aspire 5740G in signature. For install it I have create a bootable USB stick containing the installer of mountain lion as described in this guide: http://www.insanelym...howtopic=258485 (It's in italian). The installation was very easy and I didn't need to use kext, flag or patch for start up mountain lion. Arrived to the desktop wifi, DVD player and USB work natively but other devices not... And this is the reason I'm here

 

Everything solved!

 

Before continue I list the specs of my notebook:

 

Mobo: Acer Aspire 5740

CPU: Intel Core i5 430M (2.26 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)

RAM: 3956 MB (DDR3-1066 DDR3 SDRAM)

GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 (512 MB)

Sound: Realtek ALC272

Wifi: Atheros AR5B93

NIC: Broadcom NetLink BCM57780

 

And there my problems Everything solved!:

 

- ETHERNET: Works after installing this kext.

- TRACKPAD-KEYBOARD PS2: They work perfectly after installing these kexts.

- SOUND: It works after installing the kext in this package (voodoohda 2.7.4).

- BATTERY ICON: It works after installing these kexts.

- GPU: It works perfectly after installing clover bootloader and putting this file in /EFI directory. Thanks to mmon.

- VGA/HDMI: The HDMI works perfectly after the GPU step. I haven't tested the VGA yet.

- CMOS RESET: I fix it with the DSDT patched by giofrida.

- DSDT: The DSDT patched by giofrida enables the sleep and resolves the reset of the CMOS! You can download it from here.

- STOP: It works after installing the clover bootloader, doing the "GPU step" and putting the patched DSDT in /EFI/ACPI/patched/.

Thanks to giofrida for the DSDT patch and to mmon for his help to activate the GPU.

 

COMBO UPDATE:

- COMBO UPDATE 10.8.1: Installed without problems. I didn't need to reinstall any kext.

- COMBO UPDATE 10.8.2: Installed without problems. I had to reinstall only battery kexts.

- COMBO UPDATE 10.8.3: Installed without problems. I had to reinstall only battery kexts.

 

LEGEND:

- RED: problem that I haven't fixed

- BLUE: problem not completely fixed

- GREEN: problem fixed

UPDATE 4: The new DSDT resolve natively the problem of the reset of the CMOS and enable the stop but when I wake up the screen stays black.

To avoid issue with gradients on ATI card try to inject EDID with Clover bootloader

The recipe is:
Inject EDID with clover, I have found that an editing DisplayProductID-717 causes wrong definition of LVDS. OS X shows it as an external display.
For this you must delete or return original DisplayProductID-717
And configure clover <key>CustomEDID</key> with your EDID
then
<key>InjectEDID</key>
<string>Yes</string>

That's it. This solves my problem with correct connectors and 16bit colors(gradients) on my ATI 5470m

After that you may apply correct framebuffer patch

Hi, my acer 7741g , ati 5470 512mb , core i3 350m , 1600x900 native screen res.

Mountain Lion not reading edid .

Have modified connectors and with ge=yes have full accereraltion thru vga and hdmi but black screen on lvds

Tried everything,force edid, dsdt edits, connector edits, bootloaders but never got anywhere.

Have edid extracted with aida 64 windows 7 , have to assume it's correct.

Is there anything in clover that could help?

I have an acer 7741G Intel Core i5 480M AMD Radeon hd5650

I was able to work with this guide

AUDI

ethernet

battery

but the video does not work black screen

if I put an external monitor everything works perfect

as I used chimera boot loader latest version

I uninstalled it and installed Clover v.2.r826 but I can not edit my Boot.plist to recognize the main monitor

install the latest version of clover from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/cloverefiboot/

Then put the "config.plist" in the /EFI directory (download: https://dl.dropbox.com/s/603owqixrhw0cbd/GPU.zip)

 

Then your gpu should work.

hi, i'm using 10.8.3 on a dell inspiron. i just bought a wi-fi card just like yours. unfortunately, it doesn't work. have you managed to make it work? what kexts have you used?

Hi, so i bought a screen for my acer 5740 (broke it some time ago) and well i tried once again to install OS X into.

 

I have a little different specs: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 , CPU i3 330M and 8Gb ram , well think its the only different things.

 

i followed your guide and it worked well some things, lets sort it:

 

first "GPU: It works perfectly after installing clover bootloader and putting this file in /EFI directory. Thanks to mmon." i dont know if it changed with clover versions but actually i had to put into EFI/CLOVER/ , and not only EFI/.

 

i used Iatkos ML2 to install so i had chamaleon as first bootloader, and wireless and wired cards works flawless after install even thou some people say they need kext for BCM57780, with chamaleon it works ok but now with clover its not working (not that i need atm but its good to be working).

 

Since i used your files( DSDT and config) it detects mine 5650 as 5470 but with 1Gb well i dont understand much so it is detected in DSDT or in the EDID in config, i would like to know so i can change it (is DSDT need to create mine).

 

And webcam, mine its not working, needs any kext?

This laptop works also perfect with El Capitan 10.11.6 except the card reader.

Will Sierra works on this laptop? Any experience???
