  1. It's been what a year since I dropped $30 on Lion? Now I'm supposed to drop another $30 for Mountain Lion? What am I getting for the expense and hassle of upgrading to Mountain Lion, Twitter integration?! If this keeps happening Cupertino is going to make Windows look even cheaper. They are also cutting the legs out from under hardware from 2009! Anyone else underwhelmed by this annoucment? Am I missing something?
  2. Boas pessoal, saiu 10.8 na Apple Store ... tao barato que até dá pena nao comprar..... Disfrutem do novo OS X...
  3. Besides current video card compatibility OOB (GraphicsEnabler=No I'm assuming), retinal display adaptation, Ivy Bridge CPU support, and current app functionality (anything else I'm missing?), what's so good about upgrading to Mountain Lion from Lion 10.7.4. Does this mean, Apple will stop making updates for Lion now like they did with Snow Leopard?
  4. Trying to instal 10.8 thro USB installer as dual boot W8/ML GUID scheme after booting, no hard disk is detected. Only USB installer is recognised. Windows installed and booting normally. Can anyone guide me. Tried every method to instal, No success Help me please
  5. Hello Community! I currently have a Zotac 550 Ti installed on a ASRock Extreme4 P67. I have been unable to get graphics acceleration with the following: changing id in NVDAGF100Hal.kext, adding DSDT for motherboard, adding Geoforce.kext, patching GeForceGLDriver.bundle, and using ##### Femni Patches. None of these have worked at all and create no difference. In OSX I cant change the resolution too. Is their any other method I can use to fix these problems?
  6. hello, i've searching for an answer with no luck... to the following question: can i have full QE support on an AMD 6970? 7. Hi everybody, im trying to install mountain lion 10.8 on my PC (i5 2300, asus p8H67, nvidia 560ti) I've made a booteable USB drive from a vmware mountain lion based system, with ###### and the original mountain lion from the app store When i tried to boot with it, i can only reach the screen with the apple logo for a few seconds, and then, the computer goes to "sleep" (with the monitor suspended), and nothing happened, i also tried with -v , but the same thing happened Any idea? Thanks a lot, and sorry for my english
  8. Hey InsanelyMac, its been a while. I used to be very active back in the day under the name erei33 and then retired from the newsteam as I played too many PC games to have a hackintosh. Anyway I haven't been gaming, so I decided its the best time to try out OS X. Dell Studio 1558 1.6 Ghz Intel i7 720 QM (4 cores) 8 GB RAM 1 GB ATI Radeon HD5470 (working natively even before I added device ID) Ethernet works post ###### with Lnx2Mac's Realtek driver included in the latest ######. Ethernet probably works native too. Anyway for the life of me I cannot figure out wireless, I've read these stickies, I've tried all kinds of kexts from osx86.net. I've read the guides on studio 1558. I've been stuck here for a couple days, and prior to OS X I spent a miserable 4 days using OpenSuse and Linux Mint. So I'm about to the point of returning defeated to Windows 7 (which is good anyway). Theres conflicting information, my laptop either has Intel wireless n6200 or dell wireless 1520 (broadcom 4322 rebrand), even dell.com cannot tell me with my service tag. Does anyone have any idea at all on how I could get Wireless working? Any help would be greatly appreciated. It looks like next time ill pay the $800 dollar premium and go Mac Book Pro lol.
  9. Hello all, I have successfully installed 10.8 on a partition on my HP ENVY dv6-7247cl and am able to update to 10.8.1. After using the 10.8.2 delta update or the 10.8.4 combo update, however, I encounter "Still waiting for root device" when attempting to boot. Though I have scoured forums all over the internet, I cannot identify the cause or find a solution. Any help for this inexperienced hackintosher would be greatly appreciated! Edit: Managed to install 10.9 DP1 on another partition, but I still get "Still waiting for root device." If anyone could offer some ideas, that would be fantastic. Below are what I figure are the important specs as reported using AIDA64; if any more information is needed, please ask. 12. Installed ML on my hackingtosh tonight, although the installer failed it still boots and works, and the same with the combo update, so im running 10.8.2 now I am trying to sort my graphics card out, and ATI radion 5450, Ive installed ati5000injector, along with all the other ati kexts and I can only view it 1900x700 which is wrong for my monitor, I also get quite a lot of lines across the screen. I cant boot with graphic senabler= yes as I get stuck on 'iobluetoothhcicontroller start completed' and I believe the next line is to do with the graphics so its hanging there. the 5450 has been reported to work with 10.8 with the ati5000injector and GE=yes and it worked with me on 10.7 I also have no sound kexts loaded yet, everytime I run mult i beast and instal either the voodoo kext or the RLT8xxx kext it wont boot, not even in safe mode, I have a gigabyte GA-H61MA-D2V any links to kexts for that? cheers all Gigabyte GA-H61MA-D2V Intel Pentium G380 4Gb Ram
  13. Hi, this is the first time that I write in english forum so excuse me if I make mistakes... my english is not too good... Well, I have successfully installed mountain lion on my acer aspire 5740G in signature. For install it I have create a bootable USB stick containing the installer of mountain lion as described in this guide: http://www.insanelym...howtopic=258485 (It's in italian). The installation was very easy and I didn't need to use kext, flag or patch for start up mountain lion. Arrived to the desktop wifi, DVD player and USB work natively but other devices not... And this is the reason I'm here Everything solved! Before continue I list the specs of my notebook: Mobo: Acer Aspire 5740 CPU: Intel Core i5 430M (2.26 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB) RAM: 3956 MB (DDR3-1066 DDR3 SDRAM) GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 (512 MB) Sound: Realtek ALC272 Wifi: Atheros AR5B93 NIC: Broadcom NetLink BCM57780 And there my problems Everything solved!: - ETHERNET: Works after installing this kext. - TRACKPAD-KEYBOARD PS2: They work perfectly after installing these kexts. - SOUND: It works after installing the kext in this package (voodoohda 2.7.4). - BATTERY ICON: It works after installing these kexts. - GPU: It works perfectly after installing clover bootloader and putting this file in /EFI directory. Thanks to mmon. - VGA/HDMI: The HDMI works perfectly after the GPU step. I haven't tested the VGA yet. - CMOS RESET: I fix it with the DSDT patched by giofrida. - DSDT: The DSDT patched by giofrida enables the sleep and resolves the reset of the CMOS! You can download it from here. - STOP: It works after installing the clover bootloader, doing the "GPU step" and putting the patched DSDT in /EFI/ACPI/patched/. You can download clover bootloader from here: http://www.insanelym...-instructions/. Thanks to giofrida for the DSDT patch and to mmon for his help to activate the GPU. 14. I have just successfully set up Mountain Lion DP4 on my Asus P8P67-m Pro and decided to share what I found with the community. I used a patched version of the latest BIOS (3602) along with the DSDT and SSDT for that version. A modified BIOS is not necessary but should help with speedstep and sleep, and NullCPUPowerManagement will no longer be needed. By using this method I have gotten everything working except sleep (but its close). I found all of this information here and on other forums. I am in no way claiming any of this as my own work, I am simply bringing it all together in one place. Things you will need: A working install of OSX Lion or Snow Leopard A spare USB flash drive, USB hard drive, or internal hard drive (at least 8GB) A copy of Mountain Lion DP4 (Please don't ask me for it. I'm assuming you are a registered developer) Lnx2mac ethernet driver (get it here http://lnx2mac.blogs...osx-driver.html) A mountain lion compatible chameleon boot loader (get the pkg here) My P8P67-m Pro package (attached file) This pack includes (You do not need to download the following list, this is just to give credit): FakeSMC and Plugins (found it here: http://www.osx86.net...nd_plugins.html) DSDT for patched 3602 from samisnake Patched BIOS 3602 (not sure who patched it, but i found it here P8P67-M-PRO-ASUS-3602_modified.ROM) Kext Wizard by Janek202 (found it here http://www.insanelym...howtopic=253395) Installing the new BIOS (DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BAD BIOS FLASHES) 1) In your existing Lion or Snow Leopard install, replace your existing DSDT with samisnake's DSDT from the download package. 2) Remove NullCPUPowerManagment.kext from S/L/E. 3) Use Kext Wizard to repair permissions. In maintenance section check "System/Library?Extensions". This should automatically check the two sub entries as well. Choose the target disk, it should be the Lion/SL install you are currently in. 4) Install the new BIOS. I did this by putting the BIOS ROM on a flash drive and booting into the flash utility. *****FLASH THE BIOS TWICE****** I'm not sure why this is necessary but according to Asus, IT IS! If you do not do this zombies will eat you. I updated from the flash utility, then rebooted. The system forced me finish the flash, then rebooted again. I then repeated the whole process. No zombies. 5) Reboot as normal into your Lion/SL install. Creating your Mountain Lion installer and installing. To do this I followed eep357's guide from right here on insanelymac: http://www.insanelym...dpost&p=1826183 "My super fast easy method requires you don't install to MBR and that you have a hard drive with chameleon on it already that is new enough revision to boot ML. first, make empty partition available for installing onto on guid only drive, hfs+ formatted. RT click install ML app, mount InstallESD.dmg, navigate to basesystem.dmg and mount it. restore basesystem.dmg from ML install app(to usb or another small partition) via diskutility. Eject basesystem.dmg so u dont get it mixed up with new restored one as it will have same name. [delete packages alias in System/Installation on the new USB drive] Fire up ye mighty terminal and go to bash shell with:sudo -s then copy packages folder from installESD.dmg to System/Installation/ on your newly restored usb like this:cp -R (drag packages folder here) (drag installation folder from usb here) give it a few minutes to finish then do the same copy technique, but this time for mach_kernel from InstallESD.dmg to / of new usb:cp -R (drag mach kernel here) (drag entire usb installer volume here) and done with terminal-yay create /Extra folder on usb and only put in your smbios and org.chameleon.boot.plist, leave your DSDT out use kext wizard to install fakesmc and nullcpupowermanagement [not needed if you used the patched BIOS] to s/l/e on your usb drive, then use kext wiz repair and rebuild cache options reboot as normal, do not change boot drive in bios. At your normal chameleon prompt, choose instead to boot to your new installer (OSX Base system) and use boot flags -v add any other bootflags you normally use that are not already in your org.chamleon.boot.plist install DP4 and reboot back to your old OSX. From there use kext wiz again to install fakesmc to your new DP4 and any other kexts you know are required to boot and copy /Extra folder from installer to your completed installation. I still didn't put my DSDT in it yet reboot, and this time from chameleon prompt choose new OSX DP4 and have fun. Should always use -v to boot until your install is rock solid (with dev preview just always use it)." Thanks, eep. Some notes: My copy of ML was a .dmg file, not an .app file. If you have this, mount the dmg. BaseSystem.dmg is a hidden file at the root directory. You will need to show hidden files. In terminal type "defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE". Return. Then type "killall Finder". Return. To unshow the hidden files do the same thing but use "FALSE" instead of "TRUE". The packages folder that needs to be copied is also in the root of the mounted ML installer image. I needed to use boot flag PCIRootUID=1 to boot the installer disk, and the installed ML. Installing P8P67-m drivers Once into your new Mountain lion install: Install the chameleon boot loader from the P8P67-m Pro Pack Use Kext Wizard to install all kexts in the P8P67-m Pro Drivers folder of the pack. You can drag multiple kexts into kext wizard. (IOAHCIFamaily.kext is patched for TRIM support and only needed if you use an SSD) Install the Lnx2Mac driver if you need ethernet support Copy the DSDT and SSDT to /Extra (Use the SSDT that is appropriate to your CPU). Add kernel flag PCIRootUID=1 to the boot.plist in /Extra Reboot. You should now be able to boot directly from your new ML install. If you want hardware monitoring such as CPU frequency and temps, use Kext Wizard to install the fakeSMC plugins that were included in the P8P67-m Pro Package. I used ACPISensor and IntelCPUMonitor. Others may be needed depending on what hardware you have and want to monitor. Of course you're on your own for video cards and other hardware. I use an ATI 5750. If you want to see what i did with that, check it out here: http://www.insanelym...dpost&p=1826652 P.S. This is my first guide, so please let me know if there's anything i need to fix. I hope it helps someone. P8P67-m Pro Pack.zip
  15. Hello, This is my first attempt at building a Hackintosh system, and I am running into some problems. Perhaps somebody with more experience could point me in the right direction. My current build is as follows: Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Processor: AMD FX-8350 Memory: G.Skill Trident X DDR3 2400 2x8GB (non-ECC, Unbuffered) Video: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 I used myHack to install OSX 10.8 (Mountain Lion) on an SSD, GUID partition map, HFS+ format. It took some work to figure out how to even get the installer to boot. I used the following boot flags: -v npci=x2000 GraphicsEnabler=No -nossse3bit arch=x86_64 USBBusFix=Yes I had to replace the included kernel with the AMD FX Kernel 10.8.x from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/13-amd-fx-kernel/ After installation, I used the terminal from the installer disk to copy the AMD kernel to the new Macintosh HD, and booted using the same flags. It has seemed to hang up on the login screen, giving me the following messages: com.apple.launchd 1 com.apple.UserEventAgent-LoginWindow Stopping job... com.apple.launchd 1 com.apple.UserEventAgent-LoginWindow Sent job SIGKILL... com.apple.launchd 1 com.apple.universalaccessd Stopping job... com.apple.launchd 1 com.apple.universalaccessd Sent job SIGKILL... com.apple.launchd 1 com.apple.coreservices.appleid.authentication Stopping job... It just continually flashes this screen. So any suggestions for getting past this? Meanwhile, it's bedtime for me, but I will get back to work on this tomorrow.
  16. Hi, I heard that the nVidia GT650m works natively in Mountain Lion (thanks to the new 15" MBP (retina and non retina)) but I didn't manage to make it work. Here is what i see in the device manager (I don't know exactly if it's called like that, I installed the French version) : NVIDIA Chip Model : Jeu de composants: NVIDIA Chip Model Type: Processeur graphique (GPU) Bus: PCIe Longueur de la voie PCIe: x16 VRAM (totale): 0 Mo Fournisseur: NVIDIA (0x10de) Identifiant du périphérique: 0x0fd1 Identifiant de révision: 0x00a2 Révision de la ROM: preset 1.0.0 I have to boot with -x because It would freeze after NVDAGK100Hal loaded and registered It hanged if I didn't put GraphicsEnabler=no (couldn't patch ROM blablabla nVidia 0mb or something like that) but I fixed it by using MacBookPro 9,1 smbios. I'm using a Ivy Bridge based laptop. Here are the specs : http://www.materiel.net/ordinateur-portable/dell-inspiron-17r-se-7720-80006.html I'm sorry for non-French speaking users but it's easy to understand the specs... I also installed the lastest version of chimera (1.11.1) for the HD 4000 but It won't work either (same thing freeze even if i delete the nVidia related kext) By the way, I don't understand why there isn't any topic about the 650m, which is very common in the new MBP (There is a GTX680 Thread, why not 650m ?) Thank you in advance ! ThibaultAnd

    Elan Touchpad Driver

Latest There is another work on the same topic in tonymacx86, http://www.tonymacx8...er-mac-osx.html I will have a try tonight or later. Note: they released kexts for Lion and Mountain Lion, source code in https://github.com/EMlyDinEsHMG/ElanTouchpad-Driver/ Status Just started, very beginning(yes, I mean not much functions work by now). For V3, single finger movement and taptoclick should work. It's a development thread for now, not for final end users! If you want to help this topic, please join! Target This thread is focused on Elan touchpad(at least for ASUS laptops), not for others. Code Code Base: https://github.com/AppleLife/VoodooPS2 (Thanks Slice, THe KiNG, AndyV and all people who contributed to VoodooPS2) Relative talk: http://www.projectos...?showtopic=1937 My repo: https://github.com/liangqi/VoodooPS2/ My change: https://github.com/l...21f16bd0dd3e1a5 Note: this change will allow people to build code on 10.7 + Xcode 4.4 and 10.8 + Xcode 4.4, but I only tested the VoodooPS2ElanTrackpad.kext on 10.8. Need someone to verify whether it works on 10.7 or not. Environment My work env: 10.8.1 + Xcode 4.4.1 / 10.7.4 + Xcode 4.4 My test env: 10.8.1 + Xcode 4.4.1 Laptop: ASUS A43SV/K43SV Finished please check the commit msg in above link of "My change". Todo 1. at least by now, we found Apple hasn't released any api for multitouch device, you could find this, /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MultitouchSupport.framework/ 2. then what we could do for now, only provide functions which are in IOHIPointing, you can consider it is a mouse device. I will try 2 fingers taptoclick for right button click, and 2 fingers scroll for h/v scroll 3. we should use the settings in System Preferences/TrackPad, at least the "Tracking Speed" 4. And I think current one is "very" unstable, not sure about the reason.... Attachments 1. AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext.zip 2. ApplePS2Controller.kext.zip 3. 18. Hi! I'm planning on building a Hackintosh, and it is my first time building a computer from scratch. I have taken apart a computer and put it back together successfully quite a few times. Although I have no experience with Hackintoshes, I have been doing by reading. Anyways, I plan on building my Hackintosh into a PowerMac G5 chassis. I have little (very, very little) experience with rotaries and soldering, and no experience with hardware modding. These are the parts I plan on using: Intel DZ77GA-70K Motherboard EVGA GeForce GTX 660 SC 3GB (Yes) Intel Core i7-3770K Processor (Yes) Intel 330 Series SSD - 240GB LG BH12LS35 Lightscribe Blu-Ray Writer Corsair 500W Modular PSU Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 RAM (Yes) Aluminum Apple Cinema Display 20" (Yes) Apple Bluetooth Module Apple WiFi-N Module (Yes) Feel free to make any suggestions as to the parts I'm using. What I'm mainly concerned about is the front and back I/O panel. Can somebody write a step-by-step guide as to how to make the case fully ATX-ready? Is there someone who could also make a cover for the bottom where it has to be cut, and make the cover look Apple-like? Thank you very much.

    MSI MPOWER Z87 install help

Hello! I'm brand new to installing OS X onto a physical machine, so please pardon my newbishness note: I posted this in the wrong place (OSX 10.9 installation), so If this is also the wrong place, could an admin please move me to the right place thanks! So Here's the build I'd like to install OS X 10.9 (or 10.8 if 10.9 wont work): Processor: Intel Core i7-4770k Graphics Card: MSI Twin Frozr GTX 660 Ti (The MSI version of Nvidia's GTX 660 Ti?) Memory: Patriot Viper 32GB (4x 8GB cards) Motherboard: MSI MPOWER Z87 Chipet (Does have the UEFI thing) DVD Drive: ASUS 24x DVD Burner DRW-24B1ST HDD: 1 or 2 TB (Don't think it matters) I built it with the best that I could get, thinking that it would be better so that OS X would run really fast So will my hardware support? and what boot flags (I read some of the instructions) should I use? Will provide everything necessary to get this baby working xD Thanks! DustinKazi P.S. Could I also possibly install Xcode and iLife on it (via the DMG files that I found)?
  22. Hi: I have a Gateway M685-E that I had running 10.7 Lion previously. I needed to redo the laptop from scratch (unrelated hackintosh problems). I now have 10.8 installed successfully but can't boot regularly. When I boot to safe mode, I can log in but afterwards I get a completely "grey" backdrop with a mouse cursor. It appears the system is running fine but there is an issue with the desktop being rendered. All my research points me to my graphics card not being configured. My question is: has anyone successfully gotten the GeForce Go 7600 / 7800 working in Mountain Lion? The best thread I've seen so far is here: http://www.insanelym...o/#entry1842802 I've read about NVEnabler in other places on the net but haven't tried it yet. Has anyone had success with it? I've tried all other command line options that I've read about. GraphicsEnabler, PCIRoot, SafeMode, Cache flags, etc. I haven't done any DSDT stuff yet. Can't do any DSDT editing yet because I can't get working graphics in regular or safe mode. This is definitely going to be interesting since I'll be working in single-user mode until I can get some kind of graphics support in at least safe mode. Thanks for any info.
  23. 1024 x 768 fills up the screen but isn't HD. 1080i the max allowed by my TV is shrunken and the pixel lines have a buzz to them. My Xbox doesnt do this and neither does my Uverse so I believe it to be a problem with the hackintosh graphics. These all run on HDMI. Has any one else experienced this problem or have a solution? This is on 10.8.2 with a Zotac GTX 550 Ti Amp.
  24. Installed ML on HP HDX 16 using ###### method. Then used Chameleon 2.1 as bootloader. Noted that after install, whenever I updated the boot config file (org.Chameleon.Boot.plist in /Extra) using GUI tools (e.g. Chameleon Wizard), the permissions would change and the system would freeze during booting. Upon closer inspection, I realized that the permissions on the file which allowed the system to boot fully was 666 (rw-rw-rw-). Every time the permission changed to prevent write permission to "group", "others", the system would refuse to boot. Changing them back to 666 (chmod 666 /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist) would allow the system to boot smoothly again. So to everyone who encounter unexplained boot freezes, I would giving this a shot; it may just work out for you. PS: Sorry if this has been covered earlier; didn't search the forums.
  25. Somebody use ML on this system? How to get started and what are the pitfalls? A lot of guides for SE or Deluxe motherboards, not vanilla. Also, I have two video cards - 9800GT and HD5850. How to use only one in Mac OS? I tried in Snow Leopard - system starts with 9800GT, but goes reboot with two video cards. (I use both in Windows).
