I still use a PCI card with the Ralink 2860 chipset. Everything is great, except the fact that I need to boot with arch=i386. I don't think it's future proof if I keep using the 2860. Anyone knows a good PCI(e) card which works great with 64 bit and Lion? I don't want a USB stick, never have good reception with these things and I am on a fast internet connection (30mbit).

Works natively in 64 bit on SL and now Lion GM as well.
Beware though, there seems to be a revision of this card that doesn't get detected natively. Not sure about that one.
Mine has the device ID 4318 (vendor id is 14e4)

@Antaeus thanks!
@Kitmac I hate these 8192 sticks, I have one myself, but can't get more then 900kb/sec out of it on OSX. I have a 30Mbit connection where I usually get 3000-3300kb/sec with a Wifi N PCI card.

I use a N class encore router and i usually get 2mbs on torrent files.
But yeah i can see y a pci-card would give you better throughput than a usb.
What PCI card u suggest for Lion?

I think the DWA556 is exactly what I need. Downside is the price, which is 50 euro's in the Netherlands. Hopefully I can find it somewhere cheaper
edit: lucky me, someone is offering it for only 35 euro's. Hopefully it'll work in Lion, because it seems some people has some problems even on SL. Guess I'll just have to try it out.

Already ordered it. Well, if I can make it work with a Kext, that is fine as well. Just want a card that is working in Lion and in 64bit.

The DWA556 is working really well. Just works out of the box, didn't edit anything or added a kext. This was the thing that I was looking far, and it is great
So thanks for the tip.

Hi,
Does Air Drop work with it?
If no , then it might not be fully compatible with LION.

There is a very good recommendation from Noam AA in this thread. It's about using an genuine Apple Wifi-Card with a pcie-adapter. According to the reports it works out of the box with the native airport utility. I also bought the card+adapter on ebay since I have problems with my Ralink-Stick in Lion. I'm still waiting for it because the shipping from the US to Germany should take a few weeks.

Dlink 552 v1 is native on OSX
V2 and V3 need a patch. Both work great.

Anybody confirm D-Link DWA 556 native support with Lion OS X to me (and 64bit mode)? I'll buy it.
Thanks!
Thanks!
