I can't seems to get it to give the GeForce GTX 260M in About My Mac and have tried quite a bit of stuff with no success (the best I got was a generic geforce with 1024mb of vram). I have tried injection, different driver, tried deleting stuff but in the end I do not have the full capabilities of my graphics card.
Is there any chance someone could give me full details on how they got Quartz and whatever else working? (maybe even post drivers if those were needed?)

I just wanted to add my two cents to my topic and what i got to work for me.
Initially i had a friend of mine come over and clone his OSX drive onto mine which had preinstalled kexts he thought i would need in order for OSX to run on this computer. We got it running smooth after about an hour with WiFi, sound, and webcam all working. We had to add an EFI string for an Nvidia 9800 GT because apparently it is on the same chipset as the GTX 260m (This fixed an issue we were having with the display being stuck at a lower resolution). After he left I realized that things like Preview werent working and the computer seemed a little sluggish for the specs. After doing some research I realized the full graphics hardware acceleration was not enabled. I tried a plethora of Kexts and messing around with graphicsenabler in Chameleon but with no luck. After about 2 days i decided to just try wiping the drive and Reinstalling from scratch on my own.
My G72GX now is running perfectly with graphics acceleration, and all the hardware recognized (including my graphics card as the GTX260m and E-SATA) on 10.6.7 . The only thing I have not been able to get to work is ProTools because of its apparent conflict with VoodooHDA.
I am also running it off of an additional internal SATA drive if that matters.
My install Process was :
Download Snow Leopard Retail
Burn The DMG/ISO image to my 16Gig flash drive
Download Iboot
Burn Iboot to a DVD-R (I am pretty sure the image is small enough to burn to a CD but i didnt have any)
Set boot Priority to DVD drive in the BIOS
Boot to Iboot DVD
Select to boot to Flash drive that Snow Leopard is installed on
Select Disk Utility from one of the drop down menus
Reformat Drive I wanted to install OSX on to HFS+
Close Disk Utility
Follow Instructions Onscreen to Install Snow Leopard
Reboot
Select the drive I installed OSX on to boot to in iboot
Go Through welcome experience (at this point I had full Graphics Acceleration, Correct Display Resolution, WiFi and webcam)
After it boots to desktop, check the System profiler. Mine was reading 4Gb of Ram, And my GTX260M.
Download Multibeast
Download 10.6.7 Combo update from Apple's Site (not apple updater)
Install 10.6.7 Combo Update
When it asks you to reboot, Open Multibeast and install Easybeast. I believe the only kext I installed in Multibeast was VoodooHDA and VoodooBattery because at this point I had no Audio nor battery indicator.
Reboot
Set my OSX drive as boot priority in the BIOS
It should boot to Chameleon at this point
Select OSX to boot to
At this point I now had audio and now OSX recognized the full 6Gb of RAM.
I think i had to use a kext in Multibeast to get the ESATA to work later on. For me it only works if I boot up with the ESATA drive already connected and then it reads as an internal drive but that is not an issue for me.
I hope this helped.

How to install in two four steps:
(assumes clean install)
Download & Burn ModCD 0.3.1
(the successor to Empire EFI)
Start your laptop with ModCD
Replace ModCD with the Snow Leopard retail install DVD
Proceed with the install as normal
Personally I consider that two steps because the hardest part of it is downloading & burning ModCD, everything after that is the normal install.
After Snow Leopard is installed you will notice that thanks to ModCD you already have all of the kexts you need for our laptops (minus the card reader it don't work in SL or at least it don't to my knowledge)
In addition to all of the hardware working "out of the box" the chameleon bootloader has already been pre-installed so no need to bother with that either, all you have to do is download the updates about 1.2 Gigs total and your new "Mac" will be up-to-date
On a side note I did backup my kext's before doing the updates but its not required I use the system updater to download / install all of my updates and none of the updates screwed up anything.
Total time from blank hard drive to fully updated Snow Leopard 45-65 Min. depending on your download speeds on the updates

Voodoohda GraphicsEnaber=y bootflag will be going through my install method a few times to get the process completely worked out. Followed Tonymac install method adding only a few steps to fix issues that came up like my machine stalling while trying to install over snow. Also had difficult time with the installer not loading from app store. My fix for this is reinstall with Hazard 6.6i that was the only fix I found for that issue.

Everything I've tested so far is working (I'm missing SD Reader, HDMI and FireWire)
I've only been able to boot with arch=i386 flag. I don't know why, but trying to boot on 64 bit mode the computer will just keep loading.
Sound output is working, but input is not.
Sleep works fine, but sound crackles after resume. I have found some fixes to this (reloading kext on wake up) but haven't tried them.
Can anybody share the sound kext you're using? I tried every version of VoodooHDA in Multibeast but each of them gave me Kernel Panic. I understand this kexts are working on 64bit mode, but as I said, I haven't been able to boot other than 32 bit. Any clue on this?
Other than this, it is a pretty stable install, I think even more stable than my last SnowLeopard install.
Also, since SnowLeopard I'm having this bug on VoodooPS2Controller where pressing CapsLock and some other key at the same time freezes the whole keyboard and trackpad. The only way to go through this is connecting a USB mouse and keyboard to save my work and reboot.
I've disabled CapsLock key to prevent this and forced myself to get used to write capital letters with shift, but it would be nice to have my CapsLock key back again.
@bunc5224
if you have a 100% working install of Lion, could it be possible for you to make a backup of your kexts with OSX86 Tool and share it with the forum? please?
Since we all share specs and hardware, this could make it easier for others to install/reinstall Lion and have a less painful experience than what we've had. (I also lost my drive several times and tried for almost 2 weeks to get it working in a reliable way)
Thanks

Alright after much effort and a reinstall found that I also was booting arch=i386. I have fixed this issues. Had to go kext.com and download 64bit capable ps2 and touchpad kext. This fixed my issues with booting arch=x86_64. So now I have a 64bit os and software. It's functioning quite well although sleep doesn't work correctly and for some reason got a bios reset after going to sleep. I deleted sleepenabler.kext. Hoping this will fix this issue til someone comes up with a way to sleep correctly. Otherwise follow tonymacs blog and my couple of changes and should be able to get a good mac install. Have fun. I did.

I googled them specifically for 64bit. Think that I got the ps2 kext from kext.com and the voodoohda kext from voodoo's site. I might be wrong. I tried for several hours with diff kext to get it up and going. Then my hd drive pooped out on me last week. So Im also on the hunt again for the kext. I will let ya know where I get them this time. Been a long process.

With disk utility in the installer, I erased Snow Leopard partition again with HFS+, and installed on that partition.
After that I installed Chameleon, it starts with 10.8.0.
The thing is the boot loader is designed for MBR I guess, therefore yo uare not able to see after partition 4, so if you have partition 5, 6, so on; you are not able to see it.
I haven't checked anything much. Just installed FakeSMC.kext. I don't know what it is.
To install raw to USB, use terminal in snow leopard
First, partition the USB to 1 partition as free space though. Otherwise, it didn't work on mine (Using disk utility)
diskutil list
That is to see which disk is the USB. You will see something like /dev/disk3 (I am writing as it is disk3, it maybe different on your Mac)
sudo umount /dev/disk3
If it says it is not mounted, never mind.
sudo dd if=location of the raw file(use get info if you are not sure; at the end it should be /filename.raw) of=/dev/rdisk3 bs=1m
Then just wait it to finish. Then you will have your USB Installer.
It fits in a 8GB.
I do not know of anyway to see the partitions 5 and over.
I don't know if 10.8.1 is released, because software update didn't show any updates.
It is able to install on G72 with no boot options (Snow Leopard needed cpus=1)
There is a tutorial here
http://olarila.com/f...php?f=27&t=1627
but you can just boot with usb, select usb to start, partition your mac drive to one partition as free space by disk utility if you haven't yet, then just install.
After the install, There is an Extra folder in the dog of the Extra folder in the USB; put that directly where your Mac Partition is, let's say it is called ML; put it directly /ML/.
Then find the latest Chameleon, or something better and install it.
Or use Chameleon wizard from the tutorial.
I still didn't do anything about SMBIOS.pllist. I don't know what needs to be done about it or what is it.
You can use Kext wizard from the tutorial to unpack the mkext file in the extra folder to the desktop and again by using kext wizard to install FakeSMC.kext.
I don't know what it is for though. Tutorial said it is always needed. I haven't tried other kexts yet.
Before doing all of this, I suggest you to backup your Snow Leopard partition if you want to go back.
And also after the installation of Mountain Lion, without doing anything (even without installing Chameleon), you can also back up Mountain Lion partition, but installation didn't seem that hard.
I don't know how much it will work.
