  1. Hi I am also a proud owner of an Asus Zenbook Prime UX31a and ever since I got this Ultrabook I've been itching to get OS X up and running on it. Previously, I have ran Snow Leopard on an old Asus gaming laptop before and got it working just fine with only a few kext installations to fix a few minor issues. I have no experience with DSDTs or SSDTs or the chameleon bootloader or HDEF. However, I'm eager to learn and help out to get OS X working on this stunning 1080p super thin laptop! I shall be attempting to install Mountain Lion on my zenbook prime over the coming weekends when I have time. In the meantime, if nhart12 could describe his/her installation process (like how did you swap out the wifi hardware?) that would be extremely helpful. Thanks and good luck!
  2. Asus Zenbook UX31A

Yeah I want to see OS X on UX31A's beautiful 13 inch 1080p display. Here is what my research turns up: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=280414&st=0&p=1839793&hl=ux31a&fromsearch=1&
  3. Hackintosh on a Ultrabook

Oh man, I am planning on getting a UX31A for college and I would love to be able to run Mac OS X on that incredible 1080p display. I am willing to open up the laptop to achieve this goal. Best of luck to you, gsly!
  4. Is there a simple way to redownload and replace my kexts in S/L/E and in E/E? Because an unsupported version of fakesmc.kext caused a kernel that required booting into Windows to fix. After replacing it with the original fakesmc.kext, my touchpad stopped working. I attempted to solve the problem by messing around with VoodooPS2controller and AppleACPIPS2Nub (I think). Then I could no longer boot, it just hangs at the blue boot screen before the login window. After messing with VoodooPS2controller, AppleACPIPS2Nub, AppleACPIPlatform and NVEnabler.kext (I thought it was a graphics problem), I'm still stuck with either a blue screen or a login window with no keyboard or touchpad support, just a mouse whose buttons don't work. So I think my kext deleting + adding did something wrong.. I don't see anything wrong in verbose boot, except maybe "AppleSMBusPCI" has some problem. Can anyone help me either remedy the problem or suggest a way to fix my kexts? Thanks! Terry
  5. FakeSMC causes Kernel Panic. Cannot boot.

I tried all that I can, swapping out some kexts but I can't figure out why my Mac won't boot! It now gets past the black verbose mode but hangs at the blue screen. Login window will not show up. Actually, I did get it to show up once by booting in safe mode. However, my mouse and touchpad and keybaord would not work so I couldn't log in anyways. EDIT: Since booting into safemode works, I'm guessing there are some big problems with my extensions?
  6. FakeSMC causes Kernel Panic. Cannot boot.

Alright I tried placing itt in Extras/Extensions but it doesnt seem to work.... I remember seeing "Synaptics" in Verbose boot but after this kernel panic I dont see it anymore...
  7. FakeSMC causes Kernel Panic. Cannot boot.

Alright thanks to your FakeSMC file I managed to fix the kernel panic. By placing your FakeSMC in both extra extensions AND S/L/E I got it to boot. However, my touchpad does not work anymore!!! voodooPS2 crash maybe? My keyboard and external USB mouse work fine but I still need a working touchpad. I stared at the screen during verbose boot but only FakeSMC failed to load, found lines and lines of NVenabler lines like probe failed
  8. FakeSMC causes Kernel Panic. Cannot boot.

Do I delete extensions.mkext ? Do I redownload fakesmc even though i dont know how to manually install it ? Thanks for the help
  9. So yesterday I installed FakeSMC (download link here) and it now it causes kernel panic on boot. By looking at the text stuff outputted by the screen in verbose mode, I determined that FakeSMC is causing the problem. It says something about how FakeSMC is a duplicate and it fails to start. (Pictures attached at the end of post) With my resourcefulness, I installed Paragon's HFS+ for Windows 7 so I can access my Mac drive and edit system files or back up all my existing files for the remainder of the 10-day-trial period. I tried backing up and deleting the FakeSMC.kext in S/L/E and in /Extras but the problem is still exactly the same. Do you guys know how to solve this problem? Am I even approaching the problem in the right way? THANKS A BUNCH!
  10. Unknown Video Card

Hey I also have an Unknown Video Card, similar to the specs posted by the OP. I am running an ASUS G71GX-RX05 with Geforce GTX 260M and I'm wondering if anyone can help me get my card recognized, graphics drivers installed because I would like to run Steam on my Hackintosh. Thanks!
  11. Crazy VoodooHDA issue

Ah so how did you fix it? I have a similar problem. VoodooHDA settings never save after reboot or wake up. I always turn the Input Gain down because it makes a static noise, but it resets everytime I boot or wake up!
  12. ASUS G72GX Notebook - Perfect Hackintosh!

Hello Artkrime!! Let me say that we have something sort-of in common. You own an Asus G72GX, and I own an Asus G71GX-RX05! Your specs are the exact same as mines! (Except I don't have a backlit keyboard) Because of this, I'm really, really excited. Right now, I'm in the process of installing iATKOS S3, I customized it following this very helpful video tutorial. However, I had not tested it out and I guessed on my wired and wireless drivers It would be great if you could share your kexts files if everything does not work for me But overall, your post fills me with optimism! Can't wait until it finishes installing. OS X is so cool -iliveinabucket EDIT: Grrrrrr Instead I get Boot0: error message after installing and rebooting! EDIT: Fixed, Got it to boot up! YES YES YES
