  1. I found a raw file for USB Install for Mountain Lion. I wanted to install directly on Snow Leopard 10.6.8 but it stopped at "System uptime in nanoseconds". With disk utility in the installer, I erased Snow Leopard partition again with HFS+, and installed on that partition. After that I installed Chameleon, it starts with 10.8.0. The thing is the boot loader is designed for MBR I guess, therefore yo uare not able to see after partition 4, so if you have partition 5, 6, so on; you are not able to see it. I haven't checked anything much. Just installed FakeSMC.kext. I don't know what it is. To install raw to USB, use terminal in snow leopard First, partition the USB to 1 partition as free space though. Otherwise, it didn't work on mine (Using disk utility) diskutil list That is to see which disk is the USB. You will see something like /dev/disk3 (I am writing as it is disk3, it maybe different on your Mac) sudo umount /dev/disk3 If it says it is not mounted, never mind. sudo dd if=location of the raw file(use get info if you are not sure; at the end it should be /filename.raw) of=/dev/rdisk3 bs=1m Then just wait it to finish. Then you will have your USB Installer. It fits in a 8GB. I do not know of anyway to see the partitions 5 and over. I don't know if 10.8.1 is released, because software update didn't show any updates. It is able to install on G72 with no boot options (Snow Leopard needed cpus=1) There is a tutorial here http://olarila.com/f...php?f=27&t=1627 but you can just boot with usb, select usb to start, partition your mac drive to one partition as free space by disk utility if you haven't yet, then just install. After the install, There is an Extra folder in the dog of the Extra folder in the USB; put that directly where your Mac Partition is, let's say it is called ML; put it directly /ML/. Then find the latest Chameleon, or something better and install it. Or use Chameleon wizard from the tutorial. I still didn't do anything about SMBIOS.pllist. I don't know what needs to be done about it or what is it. You can use Kext wizard from the tutorial to unpack the mkext file in the extra folder to the desktop and again by using kext wizard to install FakeSMC.kext. I don't know what it is for though. Tutorial said it is always needed. I haven't tried other kexts yet. Before doing all of this, I suggest you to backup your Snow Leopard partition if you want to go back. And also after the installation of Mountain Lion, without doing anything (even without installing Chameleon), you can also back up Mountain Lion partition, but installation didn't seem that hard. I don't know how much it will work. 525] Model Name: MacBook Pro 525] Model Identifier: MacBookPro4,1 525] Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo 525] Processor Speed: 2.53 GHz 525] Number of Processors: 1 525] Total Number of Cores: 2 525] L2 Cache: 3 MB 525] Memory: 6 GB 525] Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz 525] Boot ROM Version: MBP41.0073.B00 525] SMC Version (system): 1.30f3 875]Firmware Revision: AS02 875] Interconnect: ATAPI 875] Burn Support: Yes (Generic Drive Support) 875] Profile Path: None 875] Cache: 1024 KB 875] Reads DVD: Yes 875] CD-Write: -R, -RW 875] DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RAM, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW 875] Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO 875] Media: To show the available burn speeds, insert a disc and choose File > Refresh Information 65] FireWire Bus: 65] Maximum Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec 575] Asus GTX 680: 575] Chipset Model: Asus GTX 680 575] Type: GPU 575] Bus: PCIe 575] Slot: Slot-1 575] PCIe Lane Width: x16 575] VRAM (Total): 1024 MB 575] Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) 575] Device ID: 0x0618 575] Revision ID: 0x00a2 575] ROM Revision: 575] Displays: 65] Display: 65] Resolution: 1600 x 900 65] Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888) 65] Main Display: Yes 65] Mirror: Off 65] Online: Yes 65] Built-In: Yes 65]As you see graphics shows as some ASUS thing. 65]Even though system profiler shows as MAcBook Pro 4.1 65]Overview at About this Mac shows as iMac Summer 2001 Processor 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Memory 6 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Graphics Asus GTX 680 1024 MB Software OS X 10.8 (12A269) I hope we can make Mountain Lion work correctly on ASUS G72 (even with Core 2 Duo). Not being able to see partition 5 and over is pretty bad, but I believe there should be solutions for that. I just wanted to share my experience. Have a good morning.
  2. Can we upgrade our Snow Leopard to Lion? How?
  3. 1) I had to choose Azores Summer Time as Time Zone and chose not to update automatically to show the correct time ( I am in US Pacific Time). 2) Upon booting, I see this line: Hibernation time is too old by xxxx seconds, use forcewake=y or something like that. It boots ok. I am just wondering what is this? Is it ok to show this. Does this use any of my BIOS/CPUS or whatever battery that gives the power to BIOS Clock? 3) I have no VoodooHDA sound works, but in About this Mac, it says, there is no built-in Audio. When there is VoodooHDA, it shows everything including HDMI, but no sound. Anyway to fix? 4) About My Mac, sees my GTX 260M as Unknown , but the other information is correct. (such as Vram = 1024 MB) 5) Any comments on NTFS-3g? Advices? Does it (2010-08-08) still need MacFuse or it is included inside. (I am talking about The Free One). 6) I am sorry to ask this, but can someone explain the key differences (apple, non-apple to me). What refers to what in our keyboards. (Home and End does not work, why?) 7)Had anyone had any trouble installing Xcode 3.2.4 Update? 8) This is a specific question. Firefox - Google toolbar - bookmarks. Why I cannot use the right click in the bookmarks? 9) This is just a note. The sound does not go to the headphones when you put the headphone jack, but it goes to the headphone from the S/PDIF jack. Is everyone's like that. (Mine shows no built-in audio in about my mac).
  4. OK. It is installed. Hazard. cpus=1 -v. guid. atherosfix, elliottforcelegay, achisatafix, smbiosresolver, uuid, efi 10.5, nvinject, macam. deleted applehda, disabler. (About EFI bootloader, I had 2 windows on the other disk, and when I tried to boot into the logical one, it didn't show up the boot screen, but when I booted into the primary one, it showed the boot screen, and let me select from those 2 windows. Maybe this can be helpful to some with the boot). Wireless didn't work. Installed atherosfix and IO80211family from the kext folder mentioned in this thread. It worked. MAybe, it was just IO80211family. Yes, it is 11 channels, not up. For some reason, it is seeing firewire and ethernet plus wireless. I thought, it wouldn't be seeing the firewire. It doesn't see Nvidia Geforce GTX 260M. It sees Graphics by Nvidia. It is 1600x900, but not GTX 260M. graphics Memory is 256 instead of 1 gb.How can I fix this? It sees NVInject 0.22 in about this mac. (If I was able to get the screenshot file, I would attach it, but I don't know where it is saving them yet.) Another thing, SL sees my Prt Sc button as F13, not F14. How can I increase the screen brightness? I already made the shortcuts as F3/F4 as on G72GX screen, but I didn't see any effect. The screen brightness changed after I put the battery for a minute to change the plug. Is there any power profiles on SL? Sound comes from the computer but it doesn't see internal speaker/headphones. It sees Speaker/Headphones, Headphones, SPDIF, Digital Output. When it is on select an output, sound comes from the computer, when it is from speaker/headphones, the same, only when you choose headphones, the sound comes from the headphones. What is this? How can I fix it? About the trackpad, it moves. It works, I am not using it much, so I don't know. Just the page doesn't scroll when you get to the blue places on the right. (And yes, I am talking about ASUS G72GX). Logitech Marble Mouse works though. Camera works on Mozilla and Safari, but not on ichat (quits unexpectedly). It doesn't see it in cameras. it sees it in USB thing in the About my Mac. About Time Machine, how does it create the backups, does it delete the other files/folders in the partition? Do I have to assign a whole partition to it, or just tell it to keep in which partition and the other files will be allright??? Thanks.
  5. If I am going to install Windows 7 and Snow Leopard on the same disk, which should I install first? Which steps should I follow? Can I create an HFS+ partition on an MBR disk (by GParted Live for example) and install Snow Leopard onto that partition without losing the data in other partitions? If I have 2 disks, and the OS's are on Disk1PartitionA Disk1PartitionB Disk2PartitionA Disk2PartitionB Can I arrange the computer to give me these 4 options to boot, or do I have to change the boot disk/device from BIOS to boot from Disk1 or Disk 2 and the boot will give me the option from to boot from A or B (both disks are internal)? P.S.: Anyone with a Hazard in Los Angeles can help me a lot because I can just use the library connection and it will take weeks for me to get it.
