I tried de FakeSMC rev.171+plugins original version and it's in my /Extra/Stored_Kexts/
and it works !

Installed it with 4.51 Digital Dreamer Script and build the Combined boot caches


Going to try Your fan mods to night !

N.B.  rev.190 is out !

At some revision fakesmc doesn't panic if not installed in SLE, but the plugins won't work unless installed there.

Here's SL i386 and x86_64 compiled, revision 181 from `svn co http://subversion.as...vn/fakesmc'.

My modifications;
1. Changed fakesmc's Info.plist for post 1, item 13.
2. Added GPU_FAN, CPU_FAN, PWR_FAN, SYS_FAN1, SYS_FAN2 names to fakesmc's Info.plist.
If your GPU isn't supported, remove GPU_FAN and shift the others back one place.
3. Added GPU nvidia GeForce GTX 285 support to the FakeSMCnVclockPort/src/backend/info.cpp source according to;

4. Changed `Enable Fan Control' in FakeSMCSuperIO's Info.plist from false to true.

But two problems:

SMC FAN CPU shown value is in fact my SYS FAN 1 value
SMC FAN GPU shown value is in fact my CPU FAN ... i have a fanless graphic card.

I can also confirm these scores. I just updated the drivers, my OpenGL Extensions Viewer scores, using the stats d00d set are 127-124 fps not as low as d00ds but a pretty big drop, and my CINEBENCH score is in the 14's also.

Sorry to be ignorant but I can't find any kernel.log file.  Can you point me to the right place.  I have looked and searched all the usual suspects.

The messages listed below on yours are what I see on my cartro Quadcore in verbose boot where your fakesmsc works fine.
I don't see these messages on the X58A rev. 2 but some messages about fakesmc failing to load something do flash by—I'll make a video of it and post.

At some revision fakesmc doesn't panic if not installed in SLE, but the plugins won't work unless installed there.

I have an interesting finding about the graphics performance after 10.6.4 update. First of all, I have two systems: Core i7-920 on GA-EX58-UD5 configures as MacPro4,1 and Core i5-750 on GA-P55M-UD4 configured as iMac11,1. Furthermore, I have two graphic cards: GTX 285 and GTX 260. Therefore I have four combos of system+graphics.

1. MacPro4,1 + GTX 285: Graphics performance dropped significantly compared to 10.6.3.

2. MacPro4,1 + GTX 260: Graphics performance UNAFFECTED!

3. iMac11,1 + GTX 285: Graphics performance dropped significantly compared to 10.6.3.

4. iMac11,1 + GTX 260: Graphics performance dropped significantly compared to 10.6.3.

Both systems have same kexts in /S/L/E (RealtekR1000SL.kext) and /Extra (fakesmc.kext, OrangeIconFix.kext, ALC889a.kext). Both systems also have similar DSDT fixes. Hope someone can find out what's going on.

The messages listed below on yours are what I see on my cartro Quadcore in verbose boot where your fakesmsc works fine.
I don't see these messages on the X58A rev. 2 but some messages about fakesmc failing to load something do flash by—I'll make a video of it and post.
The log is in /private/var/log/, or you could open Applications:Utilities:Console and select it from the list on the left.

Thanks Dood.

Now it is working to show CPU fan speed and voltage and northbridge temp, etc., but not SYS1 or SYS2 fans; looking at the MB, these are only 3-pin connectors so perhaps that is why it cannot sense the speeds?

Here is the most recent kernel log.  It shows how the onboard 8111E chipset is not found but that the NIC is.

From the messages, can someone tell me if there is something else that is missing/needs tweaking in the dsdt?

The i7-980x is now supported natively in the 10.6.4 kernel.

force64 and busratio=25 are no longer needed with 10.6.4

Only issue I've seen so far is About this Mac doesn't recognize the Processor even after adding
<key>SMcputype</key>
<string>1793</string>

I've attached my DSDT that was created via d00b's method on page 1

DSDT.aml and dsdt.dsl for i7 980x, derived from GA-EX58-UD5 ver 1.0 and BIOS F12, with S3 sleep, fixes (doesn't include 18 and 19) and audio option B->(post 548): DSDT_GA-EX58-UD5_F12_S3_980x.zip

After updating to 10.6.4 and updating the drivers d00d linked to (the link is currently dead) I have been getting an error message about needing to update my cuda drivers. I did some looking around and apparently nvidia realizes that the 10.6.4 update nerfed the cards significantly and are working on getting something out to fix it. So hopefully there is another update here sooner than later.

Just letting everyone know what I had found.

Hmm, my time clock in the OS is running shockingly fast. Maybe by up to 30% FAST!  Has anyone come across a situation similar to this?  I'm overclocking bclk but About this Mac says the stock clock rate and "Unknown" for the  processor name... I'm thinking this is  all related.

So I flashed this bios and have been running smoothly since May.
Today, I updated to 10.6.4 and get a kp unless i boot in safe mode.
Any thoughts?
I get a version mismatch between kernel and cpu pm

I have put the new FakeSMC.kext rev.218 with DooD info.plist and SMCITEController.kext in S/L/E and get this layout with iStatmenu:

GPU fan doesn't work beacause of ATI grapg-hics card ! :)(

The plugin is called FakeSMCnVclockPort, it's for (nV)IDIA GPUs.
There's none for ATI.

If you have slower graphic performance after 10.6.4 update, rename it from MacPro4,1 to MacPro3,1.

Worked for me.

Would it be possible to add support in fakesmc for the now working GTX470/65/80/80M at some point? Whenever you get around to recompiling it next -_-
