Swad
Wow, I just checked out this page about the new Gnome 2.14. I have mixed opinions about Gnome vs. KDE, but I'm pretty impressed with the improvements in this version. It has the simplicity I hope the KDE devs will pick up on for KDE 4. http://www.gnome.org/~davyd/gnome-2-14/ Does anyone else think it's funny that they're launching it on the Ides of March? :pirate2:
cyrana
Yes, I saw that...looking quite nice if you ask me. I'm one of those people who doesn't like KDE (I tweak my systems and all, but the KDE Kontrol Center and other things have WAY too many stupid options and too many things in the menu). To each his or her own, just saying which I prefer. Sabayon as an admin suite name, eh? It is at least a tasty sauce I guess.
Swad
The KDE UI gets pretty cluttered. It seems more powerful than gnome but less elegant, IMO.
snackole
I prefer Gnome over KDE also. I just wish they would come up with a better set of default icons. They are easy enough to change, but you would think they could dress it up a bit more.
Escape311
Wow that seems to be much better.
Swad
I agree snakole. One of the things I don't like about Gnome is that everything looks so muted and drab. Granted, eye candy isn't the most important, but everytime I look at it I feel like it's a leftover from some Soviet program. If it's imporant to you, Gnome, at least put out a nice looking default UI.
panda
I used to use ROX before osx86 came along. Closest I got to the Mac UI in linux. http://rox.sourceforge.net/desktop/static.html Gnome 2.14 looks great though.
